I'm not big on picking on RCMB (particularly after we made such fools of ourselves after PSU) but that thread has some pure comedic gold in it.

Looks like they need a moderation system like we used to have here where you can vote (-1 - Repetitive).  There is about 20 of the same comments about the wrong logo.

The SEC vs. out of conference BCS teams: 6-6. Of the six wins (VaTech, Wash St, UNC, Indiana, TCU, TX), these teams have won a total of one out of conference BCS game. The SEC is Alabama, a bunch of unproven teams, and a few terrible teams, e.g., KY and Ark. The PAC-12 and ACC have better resumes out of conference.

I will also say that Baylor is the most paper tiger I've seen in some time.  Let's see how they handle anyone with a winning record before we crown them the #5 team in the country.  Their best win is against 6-2 Buffalo, and they haven't beaten another team above .500 all season.  Yes they can score a billion points, but if they are embarking on a three-week slate against ranked teams.  If they come out of that reasonably unscathed that's great, but until then I'm not buying their dominance.

Alabama -- because they're a legitimate #1 at this point unless someone can beat them.

Oregon -- because (a) ESPN is touting the Pac-12 as being an "almost SEC" conference, and (b) they're the darling spread team, and (c) they're undefeated and look pretty good.

Florida State -- because (a) they're an undefeated state of Florida team, and (b) they look really good ... maybe better than Oregon in my opinion.

Ohio State -- because of Urban Meyer.  Otherwise, they'd be 6th or 7th.

Baylor -- the pollsters love the up-tempo stuff.  Next week against OU will indicate whether this is legitimate.

Stanford -- see reason "a" above under Oregon.  Next week is shake-out week.

Miami -- because (a) they're an undefeated state of Florida team, and (b) they beat Florida earlier in the year.  Next week they play FSU.

I didn't realize how many good games are on tap for next weekend! :-)

Auburn, Clemson, Missouri, LSU, Texas A&M ... because at this point in the poll nobody really has a clue what team is better.  So they threw in the towel and mopped up the SEC teams, and threw in Clemson to keep FSU company.  Their new-found love of the Pac-12 goes only so far.

You know what all this indicates?  It indicates the half-life of the 4-team playoff is about 2 years ... then we go to 8.

Oregon just blew the doors of UCLA...they deserve to be #2. FSU has nothing to do with being from the state of Florida. Why did it take Miami so long to move up if this were true? Ohio State has never lost under Meyer. They just beat the brakes off PSU. There is no problem with any of the top 10. It's just not a great year for CFB...a lot of B level teams and only 3-4 "A level." I don't see any bias, and it also doesn't matter because like YOU said...so many teams have to play each other. But that doesn't mean that you don't rank them where they should be now. I think FSU beats Miami by 35. That doesn't mean I put the Canes at #17 this week.

I was being tongue-in-cheek.

Right now I think there's one elite team (Alabama) and two that look really good (FSU and Oregon).  The rest of the Top 10 are well behind those three.

Ohio State would get crushed by Alabama, and probably crushed by FSU and Oregon.

I don't really care what the polls show, or where Michigan falls in the polls, or how the Big 10 is doing in the polls.  I don't care whether the SEC gets too much credit or the Big 10 not enough.  All that matters is the next Michigan game.  Win or lose the sun comes up the next day and life goes on.

I'm not sure I agree with your comment about it not being a great year for CFB. It seems to be no different from the past few years. In fact there are more undefeated teams (8) at this point (week 10) than there were last year (6).

Granted, these rankings don't mean anything until the end, but I agree with most of it.  SEC is ahead of everyone.  They have the top undefeated team and most of the top 1-loss and 2-loss teams.  Although I believe Oregon and FSU deserve to get the nod ahead of Bama it's hard to argue with the undefeated champ that beat last year's heisman winner.  The rest of the SEC (LSU, Georgia, S Car, T A&M, etc.) are probably a notch below OSU and a notch above most of the B1G's top half (Wisc, UM, MSU, Neb, healthy NW).

Between UM & MSU we seem pretty even to me, especially when playing in E. Lansing.  It figures to go down to the wire and either team could win.  That makes me lean towards the better defensive team at home, but the fan in knows we can win if we don't turn the ball over and the offensive play calling is on par.  But, we have yet to do that on the road against a quality team under Hoke that I can recall to date, so I guess MSU is the slight favorite.  But, eventually we gotta figure we get over this hump and win with better talent, albeit younger talent.

If you look at SEC play since 2008, Alabama is 40-5, Florida is 31-13, LSU is 31-14, Georgia is 30-15. There is a clear separation in those schools and the rest of the pack. Everyone knows it is not strong everywhere but that separation is really evident.

Miami and Stanford are ranked way to high, but at least the Stanford ranking will help out Oregon if they win out. As far as all the highly ranked two loss SEC teams , I think that will end up making the B1G look better come bowl season.

This. The non SEC schools need to rise up and take it to Rome this year. The SEC is vulnerable this year due to injuries and we need to take advantage. Obviously not a good thing for people to get injured but if non SEC teams cannot take advantage this year then sheesh, make the SEC the official NFL D-league.

Um..what the hell logo is that for MSU? Yet again, it looks like someone has no idea who MSU is. I find it absolutely hilarious, but I imagine Sparty fans aren't taking too kindly to it...

The polls only matter of you're fighting for the national championship or a mid-major fighting for the BCS. As for us...just win out, win the league and go to the Rose Bowl. Who cares about anything else? As for this weekend...it's about time we straight handed it to a ranked team. I want a FSU/Clemson or Oregon/UCLA type beatdown. We haven't had these too often (a couple over ND under Carr and one over Neb in Hoke's first year). It's time to execute in every phase. It's time to win by 30+. I want a 34-3 blowout.

Might not be the weekend you expected against MSU then.  This is not a team you blow out by 30+ points.  There's a very good chance the combined score won't be north of 30 points.  Now Nebraska or NW, those are blowouts in the making.

At this point of the season I really don't care much about the ranking. Win games and the rest will fall into place.

We have the ability to beat anyone on our schedule - we also have the ability to lose to anyone on our schedule. We control our own destiny so it comes down to how we play week in and week out.
