Brady Hoke on Rich Eisen Podcast
Rich Eisen had Brady on his podcast for a good, long segment. Brady opened up a little more and shared a few stories, one of them a little physical altercation he had with John Harbaugh when they were coaching together at WMU under Jack.
Also of note, we've heard before but when asked about Jake Ryan, Brady said - "he'll be back by October."
Brady talks about his relationship with "Tommy" Brady, who will be coming back "to do some things" at Michigan at some point.
Brady likes Duck Dynasty.
Laura Hoke also doesn't wear red. The Hokes generally don't wear green either.
Definitely worth a listen.
I'm sure it's definitely worth a listen... and I'll probably get to that at some point tonight... but if someone could help a lazy brotha out with a summary it would be appreciated.
Another highlight:
In first meeting with Denard after he was hired, the first thing Denard said was "Coach, I'm not going anywhere. My dad wants me to get a degree from Michigan and I'm going to stay."
Buckeye hating, Notre Dame bashing interview is AWESOME
Michael Eisner was such a big Michigan fan.
He's SHAMELESS about it...
But legend has it that Eisen once called a David Terrell TD highlight thusly:
"Who's got the bomb? David Terrell's got the bomb."*
Eisen also used to come by the Daily offices to shoot the shit periodically.
*For those who don't know, legend has it that Mr. Terrell, while engaging in amorous activities in his dorm room, repeatedly queried his partner as to who got the bomb-ass dick.
a buddy cop or lawyer show on TNT?
but this is fantastic. Pretty great interview and Rich Eisen is doing his best to troll Ohio and Notre Dame. A recommended listen for sure
Rich: "You do know there is a 'State' after Ohio, right?"
Brady: "...I've heard that yes"
Rich: "I love this man. We are going to hug by the end of the show"
"You know there is a 'State' after 'Ohio'?"
I had to chuckle at Brady' reply there. I found it fascinating to hear Hoke talk about the way that meetings begin with players, essentially with program goals and goal-setting as well as some history. He has a great way to get everyone on the same page and working to achieve the same thing and it has paid dividends several times over already.
Im listening now. It's a pretty awseome listen !
I'm listening now, and I can now understand why he recruits so well. He has a great presence that even comes through the podcast. Very impressed.
Also, when he refers to late night calls and how it breaks his heart, I was totally reminded of Godfather II.
"I had two goals. Play football and drink every beer in Muncie Indiana." Always gets me.
I particularly enjoyed the story about Jack Harbaugh bedside with Laura Hoke while she was in labor on National Signing Day, with Brady out delivering a letter via snowmobile.
Then I had a visual of Brady Hoke riding a snowmobile with short sleeves and sunglasses.
I cannot stop smiling while thinking of that image now. Well done.
Great interview overall but you can tell Hoke regrets making that Notre Dame chicken comment. I can't imagine how many times he's been asked about it.
Great interview as well... I don't wear red either because of Ohio and chavez... thank god they are the same color, otherwise wardrobe was going to start getting limited.
No red, no green, and a kickass beer opener. Now that's a FOOTBALL coach!
Thank you for sharing!
This will be on replay all day at work today.
That was a TREMENDOUS listen for a Friday morning. Thanks OP! Hoke's recruiting prowess is no surprise if this podcast is to be believed. I feel like I could sit in a room with Hoke and just listen to him talk for hours.
Wow, this is fantastic. I'm pushing the thread back up in case anyone missed it.
