Magnus should keep beating the drum. We dont have another WR whose primary position was QB the previous yr. I hope that this doesnt become a problem this season.. 2 Deep at qb is really iffy.. And, why the hell do we have so many damn ILB.s??
Thanks. You're so helpful. I don't know what it would have mattered, you wouldn't have liked him anyway.

I would think of the graduate variety to get immediate eligibility. Any prime suspects?
April 10th, 2013 at 12:22 PM ^
JUCO transfers could play immediately, too.
April 10th, 2013 at 12:25 PM ^
Ah, that's right. Thanks, for some reason I thought they may have to wait and see if they would.
April 10th, 2013 at 12:24 PM ^
Only a few JUCOs left on this list.
That list is terrifying.
April 10th, 2013 at 12:21 PM ^
JUCO?! That is not the Michigan I know. What's next, taking players with sub-29 ACTs?!

So did Ricky Green

Right Herm, no one has ever transferred to Michigan before. Never. In the history of the school.

Somebody(s) needs their sarcasm meters calibrated.

Not that I believe Shane Morris wouldn't be ready, but redshirting him really helps us down the road.
April 10th, 2013 at 12:25 PM ^
Given Bellomy's injury, this makes sense to me. Help protect Morris's red-shirt. If, heaven forbid, something happens to Devin we have a true freshman and walk-ons.

Jameill Showers might be one name to watch. Duder was supposed to be the starter for Texas A&M last year, but that obviously didn't go his way. I know he graduated and intends to transfer as a grad student, although I don't know if he'll want to trade one backup situation for another.
He was a three-star prospect and is primarily a throwy-guy who can run a little. I'm not sure if he played at all last year.
EDIT:
Womp womp. After researching this for a little bit, he announced he would be transferring to UTEP about two weeks ago. Nothing to see here.
April 10th, 2013 at 12:32 PM ^
A quick google searched returned Drew Allen, who's graduating from OU and looking to transfer. 3 Star recruit, I don't know anything about him, but he's looking at the likes of Maryland and Arkansas State, so I'd have to think he'd entertain Michigan.
April 10th, 2013 at 12:39 PM ^
I don't have time to dig around but I think Drew Allen is pretty much locked up at NC State. He wants to start somewhere.
Looks like he's down to Syracuse and NC State.

but you do have time to double post?
April 10th, 2013 at 12:26 PM ^
Our depth chart right now is:
- Gardner
- True freshman
- Walk-ons
So basically panic if Gardner goes down. Morris is highly ranked, but nothing about his past season leads me to believe he's going to be able to step in immediately and play at a high level
April 10th, 2013 at 12:33 PM ^
This most definitely does not end in
4. Profit
NEED MOAR QBs
Angelique Chengelis has a small write-up on the situation here (HERE).
It mentions the current depth chart, more or less, as being Gardner, then Cleary then Swieca. Here is Hoke's exact quote from the Big Ten Conference Call:
"I think that's something we've looked into and will continue to address," Hoke said Wednesday on a Big Ten conference call, when asked about the JUCO and graduate-transfer options. "At the same time, you've got to feel good about the guys that are in the program, the guys who know the system, but that's something that, yeah, we continue to look at."
As others have said, there really is no downside to this avenue.
April 10th, 2013 at 12:29 PM ^
There is really no downside to this, assuming we have schollie space. This is a no brainer.
April 10th, 2013 at 12:31 PM ^
We could send Wisconsin the rights to two 2015 recruits and a future draft pick, for one of their postgraduate quarterbacks. If, that is, the Badgers are looking to clear space under the salary cap.

What about Gunnder Kiel? Is he still floating around out there?
April 10th, 2013 at 12:42 PM ^
He would have to sit out a year.
April 10th, 2013 at 12:43 PM ^
I don't think he has announced for any new school yet, but he would be an FBS-to-FBS transfer, so he'd have to sit out the 2013 season, anyway.
Couldn't he just eat a year of eligibility?
didnt he leave bc he knew he wouldnt play behind all the QBs there? he Lost the job to Golson, so he left. why woul dhe come here knowing he is gardners backup w 2 years left and shane coming in and then speight. he may be better then them ( we dont know) but clearly the kid seems scared to compete and wants a starting job handed to him.

It would be nice it we could find a dual threat person as a change of pace and get some game action to guard against a worse case scenario.
April 10th, 2013 at 12:45 PM ^
Before anyone else thinks of it, no, Tate is not NCAA eligible; he played pro ball in Canada last year.

Not sure, but I am sure if you check www.qbforce.com you'd find out very quickly.

What about QBs from Penn State? Can't they transfer penalty free because of the NCAA sanctions?
I think just walk-ons and incoming freshmen.
Bolden transferred to LSU already.
