Priority Points Updated
Priority Point totals on the mgoblue.com site were updated yesterday. The changes include those that were previously highlighted; including the increased points to alumni (20 instead of 5) and letterwinners (40 instead of 10). It looks like they're still updating some of the categories since not all of my information is showing, but I noticed a boost of approximately 30 points.
What are you guys seeing?
How do you check your priority points?
Disagree. Apologies to those who aren't alums, but alumni should have a leg up when it comes to tickets. Why shouldn't the fact I actually went to Michigan be an advantage when I'm moving up the ladder for season tickets?
The better seats were taken up by higher priority point holders. There's also a limit to how many tickets you can buy so it's harder for ticket brokers to have the rights to a lot of tickets anyway.
I think this year is a great schedule though (ND, Nebraska, OSU at home)!
But just because i am successful in life without having to attend the university shouldn't keep me from watching a team I love and donate my hard earned money to either.
Then stop donating money, let the university know, and then demand that financial donations equal points or more points or something like that.
Basically the same technique as the one used by athletes/alums to get more points.
I like this idea for two reasons: 1. this is pure america 2. ultimately the points will be more for everyone and still have equivalent value thus making all of the efforts on both sides moot; I am a dadaist at times...

That doesn't make you a better fan. You know better than that. You're intelligent.

Donate money to the University?
Whatever. You were calling people out and big timing it, and I said "purposefully" obtuse, because you are snart enough to know the answer to your question, and were just being confrontational. Which seems to be your game for some reason.
If you don't see the sign in button, then click on the tickets page and try to buy tickets (for example, baseball tickets are in season now). Then, there should be a sign-in button on the top right where you can log-in with your username and password.
I feel really lucky that my dad has had season tickets for over 30 years. It seems like it's impossible to get season tickets now without shelling out a ton of money.
He should transfer them to your name (the next time that option becomes available).
Transfer period ended in February.
The announced period was supposed to end in Feb. I am glad that you checked, and I'm glad that they are politely allowing an apparently extended informal transfer period. It is always hard on people when they jack up the PSD's.
So thanks for the info and I am not at all disappointed to be corrected on this one.
I think you're right that they must still be updating... In the tally I only see the 40 for being an alum listed. Shows 0's for everything else. But my total shows as 45 which is less than what it should be.
Yup. I'm up to 54, but it doesn't count another 25+ points for my donation last year and some other points that I'm probably forgetting about.
All looks to be good except I am missing my Season Ticket points. They have combined my alumni status with my wife for 40 points which is nice.
I first got my tickets with about 10 points (2 seats in the corners). So it's not impossible to get tickets, but it is kind of impossible to get great tickets (i.e., 30, 40 or 50 yd sideline tickets at a decent row) plus the PSL's.
So they only award points for number of years being a football season ticket holder? That sucks. I've been a hockey season ticket holder for going on 10 years now. Seems like I should get some credit for that as well, along with purchasing more than one ticket per season.
Didn't you used to get a small number of points if you were also hockey or basketball season ticket holders? IIRC, it wasn't a substantial amount, but it was something.
Note that the percentage distribution rankings at the bottom of your page are based on June of 2012 data, prior to the changes for alums and letterwinners. Given that the median was about 20.5 prior to that change, expect a big jump when they recalculate.
I've only ever gone to games on someone else's dime (read:season ticket holder.) I really want to go the the OSU game this year. Realistically, how difficult and/or expensive will it be for me to get tickets?
Furthermore, I am an alum, but am I not sure how to verify that so I get my points.
Any help would be appreciated.
You'll probably have to buy one of those 3 game packs to get tickets to Ohio.
How many points are MGoPoints worth?

You can exchange them for sprinkles. 1 MGoPoint = 1 sprinkle.
Seriously; I looked at my account info, and it didn't make any sense. It had me at 100* points in current donations, and 118* points total. With zero points for everything else. No points for years of season ticket renewals. No points for alumni status. What up? Anybody else have a similar problem? The extra 18 points, the difference between "current donations" and "total" is, I think, indicative of my 2013 donations that will be counted in the next biennial re-ranking. I am set for ticket priority, but the points are a huge deal for parking priority, and for away-game ticket offers like MSU/OSU.
In looking at your account displays, was anybody else missing their alumni status points, or their points for season-renewal-years?

I'm still waiting to see all the updates, too. I see my 40 alumni points, but I don't see anything under "Consecutive Years of Purchase," even for my football tickets. I'll be curious to see where I fall once all the numbers are in.
To answer your inquiry, and to add to the discussion...
A representative of Athletic Development very kindly got back to me. Here is what to look out for.
With regard to points for Years as a Season Ticket Patron, everybody's display probably shows "0" right now. it will be updated by April 15, and your display should show a change then. Reason is that they still have to count this year I guess. (Or maybe last year.) As of today, when you log into your points page, there is now an explanation that those points are under construction.
With regard to Alumni status, your display should display that. If it doesn't, as mine didn't, they should make that correction now, to display after April 15.
I didn't get into details of other points categories. But basically here is what to look out for. If it is a matter of your personal status (things like being an alum or a letterwinner, that don't keep changing/updating), those points should be showing now. If it is a matter of recent donations or current ticketing status, etc.; those things are being calculated between now and April 15.
