Why I love MGoBlog
In the spirit of 100 Reasons to Hate Notre Dame, I started thinking about why I love MGoBlog. Here are some off the top of my head, help me fill them in! (Don't tell Brian, I'm going to collect these from the readers and put them into a diary to surprise him.)
-Brian's personality/online character is strong enough to support his voluminous level of coverage. (i.e. he's not a one-trick pony).
-Nerdy references and a nerd-friendly keep the discussion accessible to non-jocks and at a high level - no deadspinners or ESPN Conversation ad hominem to drag the discussion down to "ur teams stupid LOLZ."
-Unverified Voracity and other state-of-the-union posts link to other high-quality blogs
-Existential missives like "The New Math" and "MINOR RAGE" lend a human, wistful element to the coverage
-Brian agreed to meet me for lunch when I was in Ann Arbor last spring (I guess that reason only applies to me)
-The "it's all about DENARD" post singlehandedly illustrates a healthy blog community in action
-Caped pajama crusader without a "journalism" degree rips apart mainstream media stories in a single bound
-Charts.
-Emu!

$5 for every reason you like it.

By the new math, if he's got a hundred reasons, that's only like $6.

Guilt, freshly beveled; just the way I like it.

for every hit or page-view! That's like a lot of page views!

Internet advertising is based on page views-- We wouldn't have the slick MDen banners or have suffered/drooled all spring through the bosom-fest of those online gaming banners without the traffic numbers Brian can prove. Page views = exposure, which eventually = money.

I thought that it was fairly obvious that my post was dripping with sarcasm.

In a random sports bar, you can yell out "TACOPANTS!" at an overthrown pass and a significant number of M fans will know exactly what you mean.

I will be watching at a bar in Chicago this weekend, and will try that if given the chance. Hopefully there aren't any chances though... I'll gladly sacrifice that opportunity for a well-quarterbacked game.

Last weekend at a bar in NY (that i was able to find out about on the mgoboard), I said to myself out loud after Denard's sweet run "sometimes when you're on." The guy next to me turned and said "you're really fucking on" and gave me a high five. GO BLUE

I'd like to add that while other boards are full of threads looking under every rock for bogeymen out to get UM, that mentality hasn't spilled onto the clear-headed group thought of MGoBlog. We do hav Jihad the Two, but well, that is something to sink yer teeth into because it like, actually happened. ut this other stuff about Lloyd, Desmond, and all the other BS is getting to be toooooo muuuuuuuch. The conspiracy theorists have taken over. But not here.

I understand the reference but how did an 11 foot tall imaginary wide receiver get the name tacopants? Charlie Weis' and or Mark Mangino's FUPA makes me think "tacopants".

Because I have the power to delete this thread, muhahahaha.... not that I would.

The sarcasm font.
... ... ...
September 11th, 2009 at 11:06 AM ^
I like the fact that everyone here really gets sarcasm and MgoBlog is programmed in such a way as to automatically insert the sarcasm font because it can pick it up in the way the posters hit the keys on their compooters. Sheer genius I tell you.
