Adidas to Offer Shoe Deal to Fastest 40 (EDIT: & Combine Open Thread)
Article is over at ESPN but Denard should have a pretty good chance at competing for this deal.
The WWL however thinks there are a few others to look out for:
Players that are favorites to run the fastest time include Tennessee's Cordarrelle Patterson, University of North Carolina's Giovani Bernard and Marquise Goodwin of Texas.

It was unofficial and handtimed. Currently he's listed at a 4.25 with Tavon Austin. Some people had him at 4.19 (not 4.17).
Usually your official time goes up a little bit. I'd say He'd be a 4.26 or 4.27 when it's official.

Fastest college QB ever?

Fastest qb time was a 4.35 by Reggie Mcneal

4.34!

Hell yeah Denard! I never doubted him.

He smoked the other quarterbacks...

Well, there were plenty of clowns around the internet who expected him to win the thing. I'm guessing they're disappointed.

A 4.43 is not a phenomenal time. It's a very good time, yeah, but he's not the fastest person in the universe and didn't challenge the times of Chris Johnson, Jacoby Ford, etc.

a 4.34 at the first attempt, good for 3rd overall.

A 4.34 forty unofficial.... Faster than I expected

I would've been surprised if he ran 4.25 like Austin and Goodwin, but Denard runs a 4.3-4.4 with ease.
The kid was on the Michigan track team, not sure why we act like we've never seen him run before.
I think his 2nd attempt will be fast. I expect him to run closer to 4.3 flat (hand timed).

...kind of a fun little game if you have a stop watch or a cell phone with a stopwatch.

Are these false starts/stumbles a result of different form from track running?
February 24th, 2013 at 12:01 PM ^
The clock starts on the runner, so you can't really false start. What's happening is when the arm goes up, you have to hold it for "3 counts" before you can run. Denard and others were going and soon as the arm went up and that's why they got stopped.
The stumbles are probably jus nerves and the fact that this is unorthodox in nature. You'll never run like this again in your life. And you'll never just take off trying to run as fast as you can with nothing else in mind. At lot of these guys are just trying too hard to get everything perfect.

Denard's second attempt: 4.45

Seemed to be too tight and short stepped midway down the runway rather than extending.

Denard compared to Jordy Nelson on the back-hip catch.

I'd love to see him in RB drills. I've always felt his role in the NFL will be in a Percy Harvin/Dexter McCluster type role.
KR/PR, slot...but not Welker slot. Bubble screen, quick screen, short crossing route slot and speed RB plays. Then also some Wilcat.
He's a player that I'd try to get the ball 10-15 times a game. Rarely down the field (although I would send him on a "go" route 1-2 times a game to see if he can get behind the defense). Just get the ball in his hands and let him get as many yards as he can.

Any of you expert football scouts get any more out of that? How'd his hands look? Wish the cameras had stayed on him instead of the ball boy.

He cradle caught all the passes. Probably not a good sign.

Mike Mayock is a douche bag.
