Final Pre-Bowl AP Rankings
Are out: http://espn.go.com/college-football/rankings/_/poll/1
We lost to 1, 2, and 3. Pretty amazing.
And some other team, I forget whom.

that Michigan is indeed the highest-ranked 8-win team in the country.
So, we got that going for us. Which is nice.

i'm standing in line at the grocery store today and an old guy with an ohio hat on says to me, 'but why did you guys stop giving the ball to robinson?'
ugh

I'm afraid they couldn't make it here this week; recruiting trip to Lesotho or something
December 2nd, 2012 at 7:30 PM ^
recruiting intergallactically. Dantonio looks a little off in that spacesuit, so they keep it on the down low.
December 2nd, 2012 at 7:55 PM ^
No, that's merely interstellar recruiting. If STAEE was truly recruiting intergalactically, you'd expect a commit or two from the Tadpole Galaxy. Especially because tadpoles are well known for laying in the weeds.

That's because Bill O'rion has that territory as a lock for PSU

That just earned one of those wife waking, dog startling laughs. It was the random use of Lesotho, and reading that comment in your avatar's voice.

Laying in the weeds.
I think they forgot to come out this year...

Wonder what impact the final AP rankings will have on our bowl invitation.
Someone should create a 'bowl selection show viewing thread' so that mgobloggers can speculate on where Michigan might land...and vs. whom.

Even if we had beaten the #1, #2, and #3 teams in the AP poll we still wouldn't have won the Big Ten Championship. Think about that one.

December 2nd, 2012 at 8:05 PM ^
But we would most definitely have a BCS "at large" bid in hand.
December 2nd, 2012 at 8:07 PM ^
MNCG bid, actually. What other 1-loss team would have had a comparable resume?
December 2nd, 2012 at 8:16 PM ^
Since Michigan has the worst luck with this sort of thing, this would be the year that the NCAA decided that winning your conference WAS necesary to play for the MNC, since it wasn't an ESS EEE SEE team being affected by the ruling.
December 3rd, 2012 at 2:06 AM ^
If UM had beaten those teams they wouldn't be ranked 1. 2 and 3. Florida beat A&M, LSU, South Carolina and Florida St.
December 2nd, 2012 at 8:03 PM ^
In this years bcs there will be the ap #13,16,22 and a NR team. Hell of a system they got going there, really matches up the best of the best.
December 2nd, 2012 at 8:33 PM ^
So done with those two idiots.
December 2nd, 2012 at 9:41 PM ^
Lou Holtz and Mark May ... So done with those two idiots.
I like Mark May ... but I'm with you regarding Holtz. If he retired and we never saw him again on TV I'd be perfectly okay with that.

Who's pre-season #1 next year? Alabama, LSU, Florida, FSU, OSU all bring back a lot of guys. Is Alabama again the preseason favorite to repeat? Ugh, will there every be a day when Alabama isn't the best team in the country again?

People think I'm crazy, but I remember growing up in the 90's and the B10 always was the best conference top to bottom. A Florida, Oklahoma, USC, etc, might have a team that ended up being the top, but they were usually far and away the top in their division. Remember when the game for the brown jug used to be a competition? Purdue had Drew Brees. Even seeing a top 10 Iowa was not uncommon. Up to 2006 mich-ohio game, outside illinoi, northwestern, and indiana, any team in the B10 was a tough game. The tide of college football switched that day. But it is cyclical, it will swtich back eventually......

The mid to late 90's was a darn good era for Big Ten football.

Maybe WC Ford I & II will fire Ken Schwartz and throw so much money at Saban that he can't refuse. Nick could hardly do any worse, and if he failed again we could laugh at him. If he succeeded, then the Lions might be worth rooting for.
December 2nd, 2012 at 8:59 PM ^
Holy shit, you might be on to something there, although it's Jim Schwartz /nitpicking.

and leave Jim in his job as HC.
December 2nd, 2012 at 9:42 PM ^
I've long maintained the Lions are ultimately hopeless because you can't draft a new owner.

December 2nd, 2012 at 9:45 PM ^
With a combined total of 10 turnovers.
That is my frustration with the 2012 season ... what might have been had we protected the ball a bit more. We might still have lost those games ... but turning the ball over that many times is a pretty good way to make sure the game is lost.
December 3rd, 2012 at 12:08 AM ^
Notre Dame 13-6. 7 points
Ohio 26-21. 5 points.
That is 39 points combined.
December 3rd, 2012 at 8:53 AM ^
He's talking about two games: ND and OSU.
December 2nd, 2012 at 9:56 PM ^
I'm perplexed as to why Nebraska is still ranked, or at the very least, ranked above Wisconsin. 10-3 and a nice regular season yes, but they were dismantled yesterday like I've rarely seen.
