Conley to visit Dec. 14

Just like Dawson, the ship isn't completely submerged. He's visiting December 14th, same day as Dawson.

There seems to be some chance that he'd play WR at Michigan. Michigan needs help at that position more than they do at CB, IMO, though I'd be happy to have Conley play either as long as he's a Wolverine.

At this point, Michigan is really just looking for the best football player, period. There aren't any glaring NEEDS right now from a numbers standpoint.

How many years has it been since we have been able to say that?

That period is measured in angst, not time.

That's what she said.

Hard to see Dawson not re-commiting before his visit. Sounds like he has a little regret and can't see him missing his "second chance".

I agree. I can't imagine he'd go through all of this if Michigan was just one of his top options. And I don't think he'd get re-offered if the coaches thought he like a couple other places just as much.

Except that he is a special case, in view of his father's death. Was his offer actually pulled after he decided to take all of his officials? I don't remember hearing that. Since he feels the need to apologize, we can assume he handled it badly in some way, but it's hard to imagine the coaches giving him a hard time about whatever it was, given his personal story.
I think they just decided to give him some space, a strategy that seems to be working.
Dawson is good enough that you have to wonder what they'll do if another OL commits. I don't think it's a given that they'll pull his offer. In my mind, at least, he warrants ☆☆☆☆☆ treatment.

Thomas Wilcher said that Dawson's offer was pulled.

Dawson has mended bridges with the M coaches, but he also has other official visits scheduled, including Alabama and MSU in January.

This was in response to an iPhone troll. My apologies. I am a donkey.

Question about the official visits: have these two not taken official visits yet? I'm assuming this means they have visited, but did not get the official scheduled tour, meetings, etc.. that other recruits get. If this is the case, why not require a recruit to take an official visit before "officially" committing? That way, at least the team has done its due diligence.
November 30th, 2012 at 4:07 PM ^
Because you can't take an official until fall of your senior year, and we have a lot of guys committed before then. It's not fair for a kid from Colorado who can't schedule a flight to AA until his season is over, or something like that. That policy would really hurt us with non-Midwest kids.

Makes sense. Thanks for the info.

I'm old school too - I like reading with punctuation. I know you're new, this is my first tip - find the period key.

Allow me to translate:

Ok, I'll take a crack at it.

of all the leaving and then thinking of coming back all within a month. They looked confused, but I don't care, I'm old school. One or two certainly represent the entire generation.

"Old School" is one of those terms that has a positive connotation, but people think that any aged way of thinking can be made positive if you call it "old school" and that's just not the case.
I just beat my wife, but that's fine because I'm old school. I just wouldn't let a black guy eat at my restaurant. No big deal though, I'm old school like that.

But I am not new to recruiting and I think this is completely normal for any recruiting cycle. Yes, it sucks to have our players decommit but compared to other universities, who allow visits, our recruitment at Michigan has much less drama than other places like USC or most SEC schools. At schools who allow visits, their commits go on every official visit and give another school a shot at flipping them. My friends at UGA sit on the edge of their seats literally EVERY week not knowing whether a kid got "blown away" by a visit they took. So I say relax because we are Michigan "For God's sake".
