The announcers keep saying how excited the coaching staff is about DG. Hmmmm, so excited they had him 3rd string only 2 weeks ago.

He wasn't better than Denard. And he was our #1 or #2 WR...the coaches did nothing wrong.

"Wasn't" or "isn't"? I'm a huge Denard fan but I'm starting to question if this is a better team with Gardner.
November 10th, 2012 at 1:10 PM ^
You realize who Denard has played and who Devin has played...right?
Denard DOMINATES lesser comp. Devin's played lesser comp.

I think Gardner's biggest strength is that he understands down and distance...and knows how to just get first downs.
Not saying Denard doesn't, but I just think Gardner is better at saying "too risky, I'll pull it down or take my checkdown"
I don't think he was looking to get a first down on that last play, but pull it, and see what happens. If anything, he picks up 6 yards and we kick a FG.

Devin is overall a much more composed player. Doesn't really seem to get rattled by pressure, 3rd and longs, broken plays, etc.
November 10th, 2012 at 12:58 PM ^
Denard wasn't playing Minnesota and N'Western's defense. He typically destroyed lesser teams.
November 10th, 2012 at 1:10 PM ^
with his feet, not his arm and decision making ability.
I'm not saying devin is the better player, but he's far and away the smarter player

What's up with all these "King Coulter" lines? Are ESPN announcers contractually required to dole out funny nicknames?

Sheesh we can't run the ball to save our lives.

Thomas Rawls seems to get things done with this offensive line. Maybe he has better second-effort than Fitz? The size difference is certainly a factor. When the offensive line is shoddy, I think a little bigger, stronger runner can play more effectively.
