Nate Brink Injured, Probably For A While
Official release:
Michigan football senior/junior defensive lineman Nathan Brink (Holland, Mich./Holland Christian) suffered an undisclosed injury during practice last week and will be out indefinitely. Brink has appeared in all four games this season and has two tackles, including 1.5 stops for losses
I take that to mean his season's over since The Fort doesn't release any injury information it absolutely doesn't have to. If they're telling people it's because they know word will get out anyway once Brink is spotted on crutches or whatever walking around campus or on gameday.
Brink's not a huge loss but Michigan's thin DL just got thinner. This means more playing time for Keith Heitzman and… well, Keith Heitzman. Also Jibreel Black, who will probably take some of the snaps Brink was getting as a rotation 3-tech.
UPDATE: Heritage Newspaper is saying it's a neck injury, so Brink will transfer to MSU and play next weekend because he's just had the wind knocked out of him.

I'll give you disparaging, but irrational--not so much.
It was also very funny.

Still trying to figure out how you don't think he was knocked unconscious..

For those who are wondering about Brian's shot at our friends in E. Lansing, it seems worthwhile to imbed the video here (pulled from BleuxJay's link). I was terrified that we had a Mike Utley situation when I saw this on live TV, and astounded to see that MSU would put someone back on the field after they plainly had been knocked out:

Does he? He looks pretty motionless to me. If he moves it's very slightly, like a twitch, which you can do while unconscious. Hell, you can move that much when you're dead.

Seems like the topics of coaches and injury reports has been in the spotlight this year more than others. This release doesn't do anything to change that.
I'm of the opinion that if you lose a game because you disclosed a particular injury, you never deserved to win the game in the first place. Additionally if disclosing the injury puts the kid at risk, he shouldn't be playing at all. Why are coaches so hesitant to disclose injuries from the public?

Does it somehow affect the fans' ability to root or tailgate such that this information must be disclosed?

I agree. People are making a huge fuss about this in LA too because Kiffin decided not to release injuries this year and told the media they weren't allowed to report on any injuries they see or hear about. Now the media and a handful of fans are up in arms that Kiffin is keeping things from the fans and that he's acting like an asshole (ironically, this is one of the only non-asshole things the man has every done).
Why do we need to know about this stuff? Won't we find eventually? Why do I need to know what his injury is? Either I'll see him play on Saturday or I won't.
