Zack Novak to Play Pro Ball in the Netherlands
Congrats to Zack Novak for signing a deal yesterday to play professionally in Europe for Landstede Basketball, based in Zwolle, Netherlands. He confirmed the news on Twitter:
Heading to Holland to play for @LandstedeBasket next year. Can't wait!
— Zack Novak (@novak3159) July 23, 2012
Landstede competes in the First Division of the Dutch Basketball League, the top pro league in the Netherlands. Patrick Beilein played for them in 2006.
For those who might have missed the earlier news, Stu Douglass signed a deal to play in Spain.
Always nice to see our former players land somewhere interesting
Good for Zack. Nice place, the Netherlands. Somebody make sure to hand out GRITBOMB helmets so the Dutch aren't taken unawares by aneuryisms of leadership.
With Novak on the roster, Landstede needs to resurrect their old nickname (per Wikipedia)—the Hammers.
Congrats to Zack.
Soon he will learn that the Dutch are the greatest people in the history of people.
So THAT'S why they can fly.
Well, that and I think their “coffee houses” help them fly. /s
(Plus the shop windows along the canal in the RL district.)
"Soon he will learn that the Dutch are the greatest people in the history of people."
This statement helps me put the events of today into perspective - because its true.
Home of the carillon. Zach will get to hear lots and lots of bell music!
According to Wiki Stu has to wear green and white jerseys...awkward
...and Zack gets to stay in Maize and Blue!
My only question: when will they start selling Landstede Basketball jerseys with Zack's name and the number zero, and how do I get one over to the States?
I'll keep an eye on it and repost when the jersey is out. The team's website is in Dutch, which would make ordering online a bit difficult for most.
Yes do. If you see something you like I have Dutch friends that can translate here or pick up there.
The Dutch site is a non issue... Just let me know if I can help...
I hope he does well there. Weather sucks 3/5 of the time, but summer at the beaches is a lot of fun.
I have one more reason to go to Amsterdam.
Euros, mostly.
22 years old, living in Europe, making a living playing basketball.
Yeah....that wouldn't suck.
Congrats Z
