And all boxers would get destroyed in an MMA arena. I don't see your point , most football players would get destroyed in a soccer or a basket game against a pro soccer player or a pro basketball player.
Boxing is on life support anyways. How else can you explain the ammount of over the hill boxers still headlining cards. The only thing keeping boxing up right now is the chance of Mayweather vs. Pac man. After that fight then what....
James lights out Toney was a recent ( yea he is over hill) boxing champion who got destroyed by Randy Coutre ( yea he is over the hill ) and yet Kimbo Slice is ( a joke of an MMA fighter) is winning in professional boxing. Boxing is not the same sport it was 10 -15 years ago

I don't like hockey but I don't hop on the hockey threads and complain. If you're not a fan don't watch
April 22nd, 2012 at 10:30 AM ^
Exactly this.
I leave the hockey threads alone. I leave the baseball threads alone. I even leave the soccer threads alone.
I don't see why you fuck heads have to come inside every MMA thread and be dicks.
If you don't like the fucking sport just stay out and do whatever it is douchebags do.

I took a risk. It didn't pay off.
I cheer for the guys with the most tattoos.

Evans quit after the 3rd round pretty much. Jones won easily in a fairly boring fight

are you talking about? bad HS wrestling match?? You do realize that the majority of these guys are former NCAA wrestling champions as well as olympic wrestlers, right?

Yet again this. So many critics of MMA are just clueless.

I think Jones easily proved why he's the LHW champ. Hopefully now Henderson will be able to take a crack at Jones as that would be a fun fight to watch.
If not Henderson ( one of my favorites BTW) then Jones vs. Silva. Jones vs. Silva would be absolutely huge, fight of the century type of billing
That's gotta be the real prize for the UFC. The UFC LHW division is traditionally the best division. It usually has the best fighters. The thing is...Jon Jones has destroyed everyone. There really is no one that Jones has to fight that he hasn't beaten before. He needs new challenges. He could probably eventually move up heavyweight, but before he puts on the weight, it'd be worth it for all parties if he fought Anderson Silva.
(Also, the suggestions for Hendo might be a bit optimistic. While Hendo's power is unquestioned, he's going to have to work to get inside of Jones's massive reach and he's going to have to deal with Jones's power to get there. I just don't like that fight for him)
I don't know Dan Henderson has fought as a heavy weight but, the heavy weights in pride where not as big ( tall with a long reach) as Jones. I'm pretty sure if Henderson wanted the fight on the ground he could take down jones and if it stays up Henderson's right hand is ridiculous.
I'd still rather see Silva vs. Jones more than any fight in the history of the UFC and a lot more than Silva / St. Pierre.
Jones is a beast man.
It will be interesting to watch McDonald. He was absolutely dominant, and if he continues to beat people like that he could get a title shot before too long. That division has two champs right now since GSP has been on the shelf, but you have to think eventually McDonald's path to the title goes through GSP unless someone changes weight class. There have been cases of training partners fighting one another, and that often gets ugly (like last night with Jones and Evans) but that would be the first time I can think of where a guy is trying to take out his mentor.
Funny thing is Jones will be able to take Henderson down with ease, put it down in ink.

When they put boxing gloves and helmets on, it is an open invitation for "subconcussions" leading to CTE later (and even not so later) in life. Boxers lose more of their health and well-being in sparring than MMA fighters do. MMA looks more brutal, but the training doesn't cause nearly as much brain damage, nor do the fights.
A "one punch knockout" can kill someone. A "rear naked choke" just makes them submit, or a few brain cells get killed if the ref doesn't stop it fast enough. Besides, nobody actually forces anyone to watch MMA.
The fighters are consenting adults who are in the ring voluntarily. I don't see anything wrong with that.
The MacDonald vs. Mills fight was awesome. I also enjoyed Hominick vs. Yagin. Rashad Evans is a cocky prick, and I wish that Spartan had been knocked silly by Jones. I liked watching Evans getting staggered by those elbows. Hah.
