Desmond could get his 2nd EA NCAA cover
http://content.usatoday.com/communities/gamehunters/post/2012/02/robert…
EA revealed today that RG3 will be on the cover of NCAA 13 this July, but he won't be the only person. He will share the cover with a former Heisman winner who wins a poll (the choices include Barry Sanders, Charlie Ward, of course Desmond, and that one running back from Ohio during the mid-90s). Voting begins March 13th.
Get the MGoBots ready, time to make Desmond the first 2-time cover athlete in the NCAA series (way after he was done playing at that).

about being in San Diego for some sort of EA promotion or photo shoot or something.
I was kinda hoping it wasn't for NCAA, but just a full blown DESMOND HOWARD: THE GAME.

The entire game is just you running at your television as fast as you can and then stopping at the last moment to do the heisman pose. The closer you get, the more points.

The only reason I bought NCAA '06.

I bought it because of that as well. In previous years I had gone with Madden, but then after purchasing NCAA 06 I stopped buying Madden and started buying CFB games.

Dear Desmond:
Please don't pay a bit of attention to the alleged EA Sports cover jinx. As a retired player you are immune from such nonsense (if it ever really existed) so you have absolutely NOTHING to worry about here.
Sincerely,
The people who select the cover at SI

How would a retired player be "jinxed" by being on the cover?

You fancy dancer, you!

Wonder if Drew Stanton will rip the cover off this one as well. That was one of my favorite sideline interviews.

With Desmond being all over ESPN, he is certainly the freshest of these four in any fans mind.
Charlie Ward has no shot.
Eddie George has a shot because of the OSU fan base, but doubtful.
Barry Sanders is the biggest competition IMO since he was so dominant and amazing.
With ESPN, the diving catch from Grbac, and the heisman pose...Desmond will be tough to beat.

but won't putting him up against barry split the (state of) michigan vote?
February 27th, 2012 at 2:39 PM ^
Do you believe any of them spartan fans will vote for Desmond? That would require objectivity, and level headedness. By the way they get so fired up when their coach goes on a 3rd grade tangent, i doubt it.

Although for Sanders lots of Lions fans are UM fans so many of those who would vote for Sanders happily would likely vote Howard instead since UM>Lions for the majority of those who like both.

I dont know how safe of an assumption that is. Pro sports are still way more popular than college (only god knows why...), so someone who is a U of M fan but didnt attend the university, and also long time Michigander may lean towards Barry.
I would love for Desmond to win this, but Barry would be pretty sweet too; my 1B to Desmond's 1A.

A Denard cover would be huge!
You know every recruit plays the game- and Denard epitomizes awesomeness- it'd be nice for recruiting and UM image of being cool for that to happen.
Plus awesome for UM pride and game sells for UM fanbase

I'll vote
In case he doesn't win, get Photoshop ready and print out your own custom covers :)

Whoooooooooooooooah Nelly

I'm sure Drew Stanton would just love another Desmond cover of EA NCAA Football.

heisman trophy winner @ U of M in the last couple of decades, I ask - where's the love for me? Didn't you see my one-handed interception against State? Wasn't that impressive / cover worthy?
Sincerely,
Charles Woodson

Cherry Coke never really took off (edit: I think he meant NEW COKE). On a side note, do you think Erin Andrews has added Dez to the belt yet? Pat White and Herbstreit might get jealous.
