OT- Tebow Does it Again
It makes no sense. Down 10-0 in the fourth quarter with 45 yards passing and a pick. The game was over multiple times. The announcers were stunned. I am in shock. I love every minute of it. TEBOW!
[ED:BISB - Gonna go ahead and lock this one at this point. Broncos/Bears may or may not have been too OT... but the role of Jesus Christ in football is probably a bridge too far]

Unless she's named her assets "Tim" and "Tebow," I don't see him.

From what the only guy I ever met who attended UF tells me, that is what the ugly girls there look like. No hyperbole

They do tend to run and control the clock. You can win with defense, limited turnovers and running the ball. They have good specials teams as well. The only number that truly counts is the 7-1 record. They probably aren't winning the super bowl, but they went from 1-4 with no hope this year to a potential playoff team. Not bad for a guy who isn't good enough to be an nfl qb.
Also, major props to Tebow for nailing that long fg...that was also clutch.

We got Marion Barber'd!!!!!!! All props to Tebow though. Love the guy, but hate losing to him...
December 11th, 2011 at 8:11 PM ^
I'll say this about Tebow - his throwing motion has improved - it's obvious he is putting a lot into getting better, which is all you can ask. If I were a Bronco fan I would love it.
December 11th, 2011 at 8:22 PM ^
His motion has regressed to where it was in college. He still drops his hand way down and has a painfully slow release. It works because he gets about 30 seconds to stand in the pocket every play.

I'm shaking my head at the Bears offense in their last possessions of the 4th quarter. Three straight possessions they ran it up the middle every time and went three and out. 10 points is an awfully small margin on the road to be playing that conservatively. The inner game theorist in me is wincing at the decision to play not to lose on the part of the Bears.
Then the Bears prevent D gave up first down after first down through the air and fumbled well within field goal range. 13 unanswered points and that was all she wrote.
December 11th, 2011 at 8:21 PM ^
NFL coaches are conservative in almost every facet and almost to a man in terms of game management. How many times it has bit them seems inconsequential.
December 11th, 2011 at 8:28 PM ^
They were 2 of 15 on 3rd down and didn't even average 4 YPA passing--and that was Hanie's best game to date. After seeing him the two games prior I can understand why they were happy their offense hadn't already thrown the game away; I'd have been happy to sit on it too. And if they'd done it again, run up the middle all three downs their last series in regulation, Barber wouldn't have gone OB and they would have won.
December 11th, 2011 at 8:15 PM ^
Quite a few drops by the Denver receivers today, somewhere around 6 or 7.
Not saying it totally excuses the 0 points for the first 57 minutes of the game, but its not like Tebow was flailing around totally incompetent as he has in some of his other performances.
December 11th, 2011 at 8:17 PM ^
Tebow is like the anti-Lebron. Fascinating.
December 11th, 2011 at 8:17 PM ^
he tweeted tounge in cheek he didn't know Denver had a kicker, thought Tebow just kicked and did everything...funny stuff. Have to agree it seems like Tebow mania but he seems to have the team on a roll..it's as much him controling the ball offensively as it is the other guys getting it done...THE TEAM THE TEAM THE TEAM...and he's one of them.

Tim Tebow. He blows the Broncos haven't played anyone. I live in Denver, fans know very little about footbal. I want it to end although I am happy with outcome of game today as we the Lions needed Bears to lose.

Chicago just bent over, spread their cheeks and said come on in!
December 11th, 2011 at 8:32 PM ^
I'll put money down with anybody that wants to bet on Tebow winning a playoff game this year. I'll even pay out 2:1. Doesn't matter who they play ... and they will probably have a home game if they get in. Any takers? Remember, God is on Tebow's side.
December 11th, 2011 at 8:35 PM ^
These folks are doing some wonderful work these days:
December 11th, 2011 at 8:47 PM ^
Lol. Just making a point. Everybody is connecting Tebow, faith, and winning football games... but if you ask them to bet $50 on Tebow they wouldn't do it. Faith < Rationality.
December 11th, 2011 at 8:49 PM ^
Tebow cannot win in the NFL....wrong
Tebow cannot get his team to the playoffs...wrong
Tebow will not win in the playoffs...pending
What's next?
December 11th, 2011 at 9:18 PM ^
Tebow offense is just like the wildcat offense. It wins a few games, its a new approach to offense, but there is a glass ceiling on its success... and in a season or two it will be gone.
December 11th, 2011 at 9:21 PM ^
They haven't made the playoffs yet. Premature on that one...

Huge win for the Lions

Looks like the Lions, Bears and Falcons for the 2 wildcard spots. Come on Cowboys take out the Giants!!

It's interesting going through this thread after reading Klosterman's article this week. He really hit the nail on the head.
The crux here, the issue driving this whole "Tebow Thing," is the matter of faith. It's the ongoing choice between embracing a warm feeling that makes no sense or a cold pragmatism that's probably true. And with Tebow, that illogical warm feeling keeps working out. It pays off. The upside to secular thinking is that — in theory — your skepticism will prove correct. Your rightness might be emotionally unsatisfying, but it confirms a stable understanding of the universe. Sports fans who love statistics fall into this camp. People who reject cognitive dissonance build this camp and find the firewood. But Tebow wrecks all that, because he makes blind faith a viable option. His faith in God, his followers' faith in him — it all defies modernity. This is why people care so much. He is making people wonder if they should try to believe things they don't actually believe.
This whole thing has gotten very annoying, but mostly because so many people have missed the forest for the trees. When you look at what's really happening here it's one of the most interesting things that's happened in sports in recent memory- it's a story about the way we think these days, and it's not a cumbersome Terrence Malick movie- it's unfolding in the language of football.

I always find it interesting how people like to rag on Tebow. The guy does nothing but win wherever he goes, over and over again. His fault is he wants to give Christ credit for his success. If he was Muslim, Gay, New Age or just about anything eles, nobody would say anything. It would be socially intolerant to do so. His teammates never trash him, they just follow his lead and yet many in the media or general public ridicule him for being to good. Meanwhile he just keeps winning. Crazy to me! Time will tell, but personally I think he made Urban Myers. Without Tebow and his leadership, in my opinion Florida has a good record under Myers, but doesn't win the National Championships it did. I don't think he is half the coach he's made out to be, but time will tell over the next couple years. I'll take Hoke and his staff over anybody right now unless Meyers pulls another Tebow out of the hat. Just an opinion!

I notice that he doesn't thank Jesus when he loses. Why not? Isn't it all part of the grand plan?
December 11th, 2011 at 9:27 PM ^
You are wrong! Show us where he doesn't thank Jesus. Win, lose or draw the guy is consistant. He has ALWAYS thanked Jesus. Have no idea whether he will in the future, but so far he always has.
December 11th, 2011 at 9:32 PM ^
How can I show you something that doesn't exist??
December 11th, 2011 at 9:56 PM ^
If there was a divine being, it's highly doubtful that it would give a flying rat's ass about the outcome of a football game when thousands of children die every day of starvation on some desolate continent.
December 11th, 2011 at 9:30 PM ^
why would you thank Jesus for losing? im sure he thanks jesus for giving him the opportunity to try and win. its about giving the glory to god. unless you think losing is glory. thats like if your dad bought u a car and you get in a accident. than you thank your dad for helping u get in a accident.
December 11th, 2011 at 9:17 PM ^
It would be pretty funny if he claimed being gay made him win more football games. That's the kind of craziness I could definitely support.
December 11th, 2011 at 9:41 PM ^
Could not agree more. Your right on. If Tebow said he was gay he would have unlimited support and anyone who trashed him for being gay, would be banned for life. LOL, but say your a Christian and acknowledge your faith and you are fair game. No holds bar
December 11th, 2011 at 9:46 PM ^
Dude, what?! This isn't really a conversation I want to have on this blog, but claiming your gay in professional sports is definitely not more supported than thanking God for your accomplishments (which happens after every game).

It's sad that you can't have a disscusion about Tim Tebow/the Broncos without religon being brought into it. Who cares if he is very religous?
December 11th, 2011 at 10:17 PM ^
I have a brother in Denver who tells me that there are Tebow fans out there who are hoping to draft Denard in order to have more spread qbs in the system, to keep things going if anything happens to Tebow. He is not a Tebow fan, and I don't know how may people he thinks have that hope.
