Scouting Houston - Game Thread

Submitted by M-Dog on

If all goes to chalk, Houston will be our opponent in the Sugar Bowl.

I figured this deserves its own thread to get peoples' comments not only on how the game is going, but how they see the potential future matchup for us going.

I think they would. This is probably the 1st game most of the voters have even watched Houston. They're certainly looking like a fraud right now. C-USA sucks

Having watched Keenum before, I feel pretty safe saying he will look a lot better when not in a wind storm. However, his receivers usually have drop issues like this IIRC. I'd be somewhat worried about an OSU passing game except for receivers dropping balls instead of the QB blatantly missing them.

Looking at it Southern Miss is getting constant pressure on Keenum which would make me confident against and Im pretty sure the speed of Denard would overwhelm  their defense

They're going to lose I think and we will only play them if there's a rematch, which if OK St wins, I doubt there will be.

Houston has played one team with a winning record. Southern Miss is by far the best team theyve played.

I feel pretty confident we could torch this team on offense. Serious question. If Houston loses does Boise jump into the top 6 and therefore get an automatic bid? Is that who we would play?

UM will SHRED Houston. Give me a fresh Denard, with no worries about tiring him out for future games. I could honestly see a 300 yard rushing game for Denard if Houston's offense keeps the pressure on us to score.

Re: Houston. Haven't watched them at all this year, but I think Case Keenum's flat sidearm delivery will hurt his NFL chances. Seems really odd watching it. He has a quick release, but he is a product of the spread.

TCU would be at large, but the bowl would not have to pick them? What could happen is that if Houston loses, then the Big12 gets another one in. Okalahoma could beat Okie St, the bowls could switch, and we could face Oklahoma. Fiesta Bowl dude said something of the sort in an interview with Okie State rivals site.
