So what am I supposed to do with the picture I took next to the trophy back when BTN was in Ann Arbor? Photoshop it to just say Stagg?

Not to be a homer, but The Schembechler Championship Trophy has a lot of merit.
He ran a clean program, had an amazing on-field record, and was a mentor to 15 future NCAA head coaches. He, too, is in the coaching hall-of-fame. He also took the UM-OSU rivalry and made it into the greatest rivalry in sports history (well, he and Hayes, but Hayes punched a guy, so...).

This was an easy decision. Should have happened sooner.

I suggest the "Leaders/Legends" Championship Trophy. We got a good thing going, why not roll with it?

How about the "Big Ten Championship Trophy?"

Fielding Yost was a hard-core racist. While not shocking given that he was the son of a confederate soldier, the Big Ten is clearly not going to go there.
Given his pioneering contributions to college football and the Big Ten, I would not be at all surprised to learn that is why nothing was named after Yost in the first instance, while a coach with middling success in the Big Ten like Paterno was honored.

Yost should have been on the trphy int he first place if they think Stagg is worthy.

Man, the hits just keep on coming for Joe Pa. I don't blame them for the change, though the Stagg trophy sounds a little two Bachelor Party for my tastes.

Hoke on reaction to Big Ten removing Paterno's name from trophy: "My reaction is we'd like to be playing for it."

lol... I love how Hoke is so good at shutting down reporters who ask stupid questions without coming off like a jerk. That truly is a skill.

I didn't think Paterno should've been on it in the first place. Being that at the time he was still an active coach, and he won only one sole B1G Championship.

...you shouldn't name things after people until they're deceased.
The entire Big 10 naming excercise was a debacle. This is another example of why.

Zook-Brewster Championship Nacho and Chili Cup. There. No problems with that at all.
