Pat Forde Responds
I emailed him the link to Brian's long post about eating and drinking in Ann Arbor so he'd have someplace good to write about in his column next week and he wrote me back:
Jim: Thanks for the hospitality and references, I appreciate it. I've been pretty well scheduled by some folks who live there, so I'm just going with their flow. I'm sure I will enjoy the weekend.

Subject: Ann Arbor Bar & Restaurant Review
Hope you are coming in with the GameDay crew for UTL (Under The Lights) in Ann Arbor this Sat. Here’s a link to a very complete review of local establishments for food & drink.
My son and I will be having a couple mason jars at Dominick’s Friday after golf, then dinner at the Red Hawk, then a few cold one’s at Ashley’s. See the article for reviews of each.

How many people use "cool story bro" in real life? I do.
September 7th, 2011 at 9:35 PM ^
It fits so many situations and eliminates the need to paraphrase "Great."

I get the CSB dropped on me more often than I am able to use it.
Sad existence.

Add another one to the list of MGoBlog users who we know by their real name.

I have been duped all this time!

This story is even more amazing than the time Michael Jackson came over to my parent's house to use the bathroom.

Onesie or twosie?
September 7th, 2011 at 4:19 PM ^
Okay, Brand. Michael Jackson didn't come over to my house to use the bathroom. But his sister did.

Say what you will about Forde, but he does have a reputation for answering all his emails. I don't like the guy, but he's not the uppity you-can't-touch-me type that Albom, Sharp and Rosenberg are.

I have mixed emotions about Forde. He is very likable, but that seems to be the only reason he has his job. Ultimately, though, you have to ask yourself a question:
Would you rather sit for a couple of hours and have beers with Forde or Skip Bayless? I'm pretty sure I know what about 95 percent of the answers would be.
September 7th, 2011 at 9:05 PM ^
neither.

You're overstating a little bit.
Albom is a nice guy in person. Sharp has answered emails critical of his columns with reasoned explanations as to his point of view. I've never interacted with Rosenberg, so can't comment on that.

I still long for the post of the guy OMG SHIRTLESS with his kid in a picture -- I believe it got deleted.
Anyone know?

I have my pic in my avatar. I'm not the one on the right in case anybody was wondering......

Speaking of cool story bro, my cousin-in-law was on Storage Wars because she's a self storage manager in Norwalk. The guy Barry is an actor and they stock the units beforehand for every episode.
She has said that their company has made a killing at their auctions since the show started from people thinking their going to find a collector car or something.

Thinks an e-mail reply from Pat Forde is boring.

I think Hoke has changed the tide on the rivalry. Hell people in Ohio are starting to believe him. Never in a million years I would have thought that. Selling Michigan jerseys is a good start.

Cool story bro.

Just curious, why do people dislike the Forde so much, personally the Dash is my favorite part of the ESPN: College Football site.

Articles like this...http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/columns/story?columnist=forde_pat&id=3104000&sportCat=ncf ...where he writes about Michigan just for the sake of bashing Michigan. The best thing about that year is we went on to beat Florida and his SEC who he loves so much

" I've been pretty well scheduled by some folks who live there, so I'm just going with their flow." - Pat Forde
Is it possible to be "well-scheduled"? Would he tell us if he was poorly scheduled?

polite-speak for :
"You poor unwashed heathen, I shall be jetting in expeditiously. Upon my arrival, I shall be whisked away to your poor little town by those of a social strata of which you are unaccustomed. We shall dine on your curious local offerings, and retire to your insignificant American football game, whereupon I'll further my epicurean exploration and wash said down with your delightfully poor local fruit of the vine.
Later, I will halfheartedly and drunkenly compose a scathing 1000 word indictment about the local goings on, and then jet off to another miserable midewestern burg of similar mediocrity.
Cheers, and go fuck yourself,
P"

...I imagine he would then be found wandering naked in the area of Maple Road and Huron River Drive, where they do in fact call the police.

Is there any chance he goes somewhere other than Zingerman's / Blimpy / <insert MSV overrated restaurant here>?
September 7th, 2011 at 8:37 PM ^
He could always head down to Blue Nile for the Doro Wat.....and then talk about what it is like to co-author a book with Rick Pitino.

Eating in a Chinese restaurant is something most of us like, owing to the taste that the Chinese food brings to us. It is also relatively inexpensive as compared to the other food items. Chen`s Garden
