Allen Gant Scouting Report: 1 catch for 5 yards, not much else
My highschool's football team played Allen Gant's Sylvania Southview Cougars yesterday. Because of a season-ending torn meniscus, I was up in the box doing stats (side note: the game was at the University of Toledo's Glass Bowl. The boxes are sweet). As far as Gant was concerned, there was nothing special. I only did offensive stats, but I know he had no interceptions. He plays offense too, and he had one catch for 5-ish yards and one jet sweep-like substance for around 7. Nothing else. Although to be fair this isn't really his fault, since Southview was running QB draw after QB draw after QB draw; they threw 5 passes all game. My team (Toledo St. Francis de Sales) went 4-10 passing, with 3 drops and a touchdown.
Also, Southview won, 23-21. I kicked the table with my bad leg. Agonizing pain.

I was on the field before the game, and Gant looks like a monster up close. I swear, he could go down to the liquor store and buy a round of Newport's without flashing an ID. Dude looks he's 28.

I agree with uniqenam that this is not OT.
Did anyone know that the Glass Bowl was originally a WPA project?

Now that Appalachian State is on the schedule, we can begin talking about the Toledo rematch, right?

I do not understand the OT thing since usually the topics, within their name, one should be able to decipher if it is on topic or not. Just seems like an unnecessary step.

but numerous posters bitch and moan about it, and so i understand the conservative placement of the OT label on his post...And now people are bitching about the incorrect placement of the OT...Can't win

Thank your coach/training staff. As a pretty arthritic guy who is still well short of middle age, I would have been much better off sitting out my senior year with my torn meniscus.

Sound like a funny young person.

So what your scouting report on our future strong safety says he had one catch for five yards and "not much else" even though you don't keep track of defensive stats and he's a defensive player? He didn't have an INT, big deal. Did he tackle anybody? Did he get burned on a pass play? Did he look good in run support? We're not bringing him in to play offense, so the fact that he had an unproductive game offensively means little.

It originally just said "Allen Gant." And I just did the offensive stats for both teams, not the defensive ones. And both teams were heavily run oriented, so Gant didn't have an opportunity to do much. We (St. Francis) only passed in the 4th quarter since we were down. Gant didn't have many tackles since most of the plays were just up the gut for 3 yards. But like I said, St. Francis was only 4-10 passing, although there were 3 drops.
On a side note, stats are damn hard. Everything moves so fast. Especially when you have to mark down who recovered a fumble (since there's a spot for that, even in the offensive book) and you can't tell who did since a fight breaks out.

Saw the replay of the game on TV ... Offensively: 1 Rush for 5 yds ... 1 Reception for 7 yds. Played Slot Back and TE. Had several great blocks to spring the QBs.(Their 2 QB's rushed for almost 300 yds combined)
Defensively: 3 Solo Tackles, 3 Assists, 1 Broken up pass, 1 touchdown saving tackle, 0 missed tackles, did not get burned on any pass play. Their defense played mostly man-to-man. Gant looked very good.

Haha these gameday updates are GREAT. I am 100% serious when I say I really enjoy the game notes like these:
"Also, Southview won, 23-21. I kicked the table with my bad leg. Agonizing pain."
