Dave Brandon has a Clone
At fan day I ran into the clone of Dave Brandon.
I thought I ran into Dave Brandon on the field... I did not. This was his clone! I watched a fan come and say "Hello Mr.Brandon, nice to meet you" The guy was like "Yeah I am not him.. We do look a lot alike don't we?" The fan agreed and walked off a bit embarrassed but really I thought it was him before I heard him say he wasn't. My pic isn't the best but they are freaking clones.
The Clone of Dave Brandon
The Real Dave Brandon

No way the top picture isn't Brandon.
August 15th, 2011 at 2:00 PM ^
I think so, too. And if it is - and if he pulled that on Fan Day - what an asshole.
August 15th, 2011 at 2:04 PM ^
Turd true and that made me laugh
August 15th, 2011 at 4:18 PM ^
It is, in fact, David Brandon. Look at the shape of the earlobe in this picture compared to the picture of him on Slide 23 in this slideshow at MGoBlue. There's a weird dent in the earlobe. Guaranteed that is him. Due to your encounter, I really think this puts him safely in the arrogant douchebag category.
August 15th, 2011 at 4:25 PM ^
Did I think at any point of the day that I would be analyzing another man's earlobes. Life truly is a wonder.
August 15th, 2011 at 4:26 PM ^
I had a feeling I might be, but I definitely wasn't sure about it...
August 15th, 2011 at 1:58 PM ^
That's DB for sure.
August 15th, 2011 at 2:02 PM ^
I swear on my life that isn't Brandon. I can't imagine why he would send away a fan and say he isn't.
I mean I could be wrong but just the interaction between clone Brandon and fan made it believable
August 15th, 2011 at 2:02 PM ^
It was clearly the fan's mistake. Mr. Brandon is his father. They should have addressed him as 'Dave'.
August 15th, 2011 at 2:59 PM ^
Look at his ear in both pics. Nose, neck, mouth, eyebrows etc.. It's him.
August 15th, 2011 at 2:02 PM ^
I saw that guy too and was puzzled a bit. It looked like him, but he was standing with "nobodies." Made me wonder if that was him.
August 15th, 2011 at 2:03 PM ^
ooohhhhh and the plot thickens
August 15th, 2011 at 2:03 PM ^
That's definitely him in the top picture. I saw when he was riding in the golf cart going threw the gate. He was wearing that same shirt. Funny post nonetheless.
August 15th, 2011 at 2:11 PM ^
August 15th, 2011 at 2:14 PM ^
Well then the interaction I saw with the fan was truley bizarre then.
August 15th, 2011 at 3:00 PM ^
He is known for being kind of an asshole to the plebes.
August 15th, 2011 at 6:47 PM ^
You're all assuming he was being sincere. Maybe he knew the guy and they were messing with each other. Unlikely but possible. Or maybe he was making a joke and it fell flat. Maybe you misheard. Maybe it didn't even happen and you're just trying to mess with us.
August 15th, 2011 at 2:05 PM ^
everyone has a clone. the preferred nomenclature is "doppelganger". the rules are simple: 1) one of you (but only one) must wear a mustache or goatee at all times and 2) any face-to-face encounter must end in a battle to the death. ye be warned.
August 15th, 2011 at 3:01 PM ^
HA HA...
August 15th, 2011 at 3:16 PM ^
The evil twin always wears a goatee and usuall comes from an alternate universe.
August 15th, 2011 at 2:15 PM ^
I'm not sure. That guy looks a little younger than Brandon. Here's a photo of DB from last fall:
It also seems hard to believe a guy as focused on PR as he is would deny who he is to a fan. I think it may just be a coincidence.
BTW, I saw a guy that looked a lot like Mike Barwis at the garage sale. Anyone else see him?
August 15th, 2011 at 2:21 PM ^
So I guess if that guy WAS Dave Brandon, then he definitely dyes his hair.
August 15th, 2011 at 2:44 PM ^
When Brandon showed up at the hockey alumni game last week, it was pretty damn obvious he had recently dyed his hair. And probably went too dark. So, yeah, that's Brandon.
August 15th, 2011 at 2:20 PM ^
This is a hoax, right?
That top photo has to be the real Dave Brandon. There's a photo of Brandon in mgoblue.com's Media/Fan Day photo gallery; photo #23. The hair looks almost exactly the same in both photos. How likely is that?
August 15th, 2011 at 2:21 PM ^
that's awesome. TWINS!
August 15th, 2011 at 2:40 PM ^
The picture on MGoBlue.com's photo gallery is of the same guy, so if it isn't Brandon, he even tricked their own photographer. I saw this guy talking to a group of about 10 people, right about the south 40 yd line, commenting about how cool his tennis shoes were, and that you should be able to get them from MDEN (they were white addidas runnning shoes in maize and blue). I was struck by how tall he was in real life. My world view is now crumbling given the interaction Shredder saw, and the fact that i am convinced this is Brandon.
August 15th, 2011 at 2:58 PM ^
It's DEFINITELY the same guy as on mgoblue -- there are visible red marks along the side of his nose, correlating to having worn glasses just moments earlier.
August 15th, 2011 at 3:05 PM ^
Go to pic # 23/30 in the first "fan day" gallery. It is him. No question. What a dick.
August 15th, 2011 at 3:05 PM ^
there's pictures of him posing for pictures with babies and children, it may have been an attempt at humor on his part that went badly. makes zero sense he'd be doing stuff for some people and then dick off to others.
August 15th, 2011 at 3:06 PM ^
Maybe he had to be somewhere and didn't want to take the time...
August 15th, 2011 at 3:27 PM ^
And it's not even a defense of him. Doesn't DB come off as a guy who would try and tell a joke that would completely fall flat, not realizing before it came out of his mouth how unfunny it would be?
From the guy who dropped the MASCOT BOMB...
August 15th, 2011 at 3:46 PM ^
My thoughts exactly. This sounds like the type of nerd humor that often falls flat. It's just strange that he wouldn't follow it up with a "Hehe, i'm just joking" and a big, dumb smile.

Dave Brandon owes someone child support.
August 15th, 2011 at 11:38 PM ^
I'm sure he saw the cameras when he was with the kids and made sure to be friendly. It is quite disappointing for him to do that if it in fact is true. I mean it is fan dan.
August 15th, 2011 at 3:55 PM ^
5 hotels / 17 cities / 2 days mystery solved??? Nice work Shredder!!!!!!
August 15th, 2011 at 3:55 PM ^
I bet he was incognito doing a straw poll about the mascot.
August 15th, 2011 at 4:02 PM ^
For those who want to criticize Dave Brandon, you are such a joke. I have 3 kids under 10 who got up at 4:30am to drive to A2 for the garage sale. The line was so long we didn't bother waiting so we went to the stadium around 10am. They stood in line until 3:15 and didn't one signature. They were so upset and in tears. I was in Hokes line and saw Brandon pull in and park by the tunnel. He was so friendly and generous with everyone and we chatted for a minute while he signed my football. After I got Hokes signature is when I found out my kids got shut out. We went and watched the kickers hoping for one autograph but struck out again. After getting rained on and figuring out we were out of luck, I then decided to take my kids over to Brandons car to see if he would sign a poster. Dave was sitting in the car with Jan and I motioned for him to roll down the window. I explained to him what happened with my kids. He was so generous and willing to sign items and take pictures. Jan even got some mini helmets out of their car to give to my kids. Then some more families came up and Dave and Jan were so pleasant with everyone. They made my kids day and I will always remember and be thankful for their kindness and sincere desire to do what they could to make our kids experience at the Big House end on a positive note.

This is great news. As a fellow school of education guy, I was hoping he was good with us common folk - and I think your story proves it.
Side note, I don't think anyone is criticizing him. Just having a dialogue. I think all of us are grateful for his love of UM and his desire to make UM the greatest athletic dept in the nation.
August 15th, 2011 at 4:20 PM ^
I cirticize Brandon all the time. Plain and simple, the guy just rubs me the wrong way. This was a nice story though. I'm glad he went out of his way for you and your kids. I'm willing to admit that maybe I don't know as much as I think I do.

We had a similar encounter with Dave Brandon and found him very gracious. We were on the field for the kicking drill and ran into him afterwards. It started to pour and I know he wanted to get out from under it, but he stayed and signed autographs for all three of my boys as well as some other kids. As we were walking up the tunnel I noticed he stopped to sign and take pictures with other fans.

It was Mark Dantonio in disguise, trying to flip recruits.

Perhaps now we have some insight on how Dave Brandon pulls off the Transported Man Trick.

Sorry one of the photos is kind of pixelated. I wasn't able to capture the picture directly from Mgoblues site, I had to screen shot then edit it down

THIS IS WHY DAVE BRANDON DOES NOT LIKE BLOGS!!!
August 15th, 2011 at 5:53 PM ^
If true I question Mr. Brandon's "Michigan Man" status.
August 15th, 2011 at 6:53 PM ^
Your avatar is disturbing.
I've been meaning to tell you that for a while.

That's Lloyd Brady's dad, Mr. Brady. I call him "Mr. B."

I'm thinking a ruler across the back of the knee would be Bo's response to such disrespectful behavior of a "Michigan Man".
