#Michigan has commit number 20 for their 2012 class. GBW will have more shortly. 3 minutes ago
I honestly dont know who it can be, Wormley finally pulling the trigger perhaps?
EDIT: Its Fullback Sione Houma, welcome to Michigan!
I was just going to start a thread. It's on the front page of Scout. Looks like it's a fullback.
Hopefully he smashes his helmet off of his forehead like owen schmitt did.
couldn't wait for the bbq?
Please, sweet Jesus, let it be Dunn.
It's a fullback.
Edit: Damn ya'll are fast
I want Pipkins. Or Diamond. Or Danny Obrien (wouldnt expect this one so soon after saying he was coming out with a top 5 soon) or Banner. Or Ron Thompson. Or Banner. Or Washington. Or MM. Or Stanford.
Man...
Its awesome when you will be psyched with any of the names on this list.
And... if its a name not on the list?
Still psyched?
They were determined to pull a FB, might as well have been him. Seems like he will be a good battering ram with the ability to tote the rock on occasion.
It's a fb. Sione Houma.
Id have to assume the same..smart money is on Wormley ...but im going with Sione Houma... excited to find out for sure...momentum just keep rolling into the season ... Go Blue
Shake and Bake!!!! That just happened!
Woot!
Welcome to the family Sione! We're glad to have you. Can't wait to see you start busting some linebackers up before they get to Morris or Dunn (speculation is awesome isn't it).
I have to be honest, if we were going to spend a schollie on a FB, I was hoping it'd be Fatu. I'll trust the coaches, though.
wants to play LB not FB IIRC. I would have perferred two DTs in this class and skipped the FB, but the young man made a wise decision. Welcome to the Michigan family.
We now have 6 spots left if they are going to get to 26. Looks like there will only be 1-2 open spots left after a DT, OL, 1-2 WRs, and Wormley.
Gotta admit I was hoping for Fatu in that spot if only for the fun connections with his family of wrestling Samoans. Not surprised this staff wanted to take a fullback. Hope Houma is a good one.
Glad to have him, if not for the name but also it proves that the new staff is really going to put in the power run game, which really excites me.
Congrats Sione!
How do we pronounce his name?
with difficulty!
because that's something Hank would say.
And there go my nipples again!
6'0", 211 is a FB?
get offa my cloud!
Hes a Junior in HS (im taking it these size stats are from last year)..give him a break sheeesh ...id like to see you wrestle Sione Houma ... he will give you a diving Samoan headbutt and we would chant his name ... ok im done
His W/L record versus a 33 year old with a little bit of a belly is, unfortunately, not extremely correlated with football success.
yea I don't get it either... definitely not fullback size.....
Pacific Islander fullback = Manball
He's pretty fast for a fb. I like this.
he's also pretty small for a FB.
I'm okay with a 6 1 frame. And do you really think he wouldn't add weight to that 215? Again, I'm okay with this.
I'm not truly "upset" - I don't care that much. But the other FB we were going for was 235. This just seems small for a FB.
Breathe, in through the nose, out of the mouth. He'll gain weight, he's going to be used as a west coast type full back. He'll be catching passes out of the back field, and doing rollout blocks. He can be a little smaller, he'll be 230-245 by the time he graduates regardless.
Exactly.
Kerridge is bigger and if his knee is healthy Houma will have some competition.
Hoke did say that he wanted his FB to be shorter by the time they graduated.
Nice explosion at 1:31
pretty well - or at least, he catches it
Nice to see him catching the ball and looking good doing it...If we do in fact ease into a West Coast O then the FB will be a part of the passing game .... and kids grow ...6'1 maybe 6'2 225-235 in a few years
I was one who wanted EJ Fatu rather than Sione Houma, but after watching the film I liked that was always the lowest to the ground and always carried forward momentum. That will be great in short-yardage situations. Although I would have liked to see more blocking than running (for a FB standpoint), I am not doubting that the coaches liked him enough to offer and accept his commitment in a tight class, and he will be a heck of a FB.
It's nice to see this kids ability to take it to the house. Based off of the film, it seems like he has good strength, speed, agility and quickness. I am really looking forward to seeing how Coach Hoke will utilize this young man.
Manball . I trust the coaches and I trust that name. Bust open some holes!
Does this mean "Goodbye 5* RB Dunn"? I know the coaches wanted a FB, so um....yeah. Hard call with such limited scholarships available, but they seem to have had a plan from the start.
we get Dunn. I'm sure we can squeeze him in if he wants to commit at the BBQ. We need fullbacks more than RBs anyway but a 5* is a 5*. If the coaches think he's that talented they'll probably take him if he wants to come IMO.
I see your point, but on the other hand, now they can show Dunn that they will have a good scholarhsip FB blocking and paving the way to the endzone for him instead of a walk-on.
No. A FB was always in the cards (we've offered 5). 26 seems to be the total number and based on what we know, that's probably 1 OL, 1 DT, 1 DE, 1 WR and a couple others. Still room for Dunn or any other elite kid who wants in.
Don't get me wrong; I love a FB in the offense (Che Foster being one who comes to mind). I just hope we have enough room for all those who want to get in this class.
See: Sevon Pittman + Wayne Morgan
and see eventually: Peat/Garnett/Banner/Shittu write us off b/c we're full
Tim, are you taking a vacation or something? It's been 20 minutes! :-)
Based on his name, he should be pretty good. It seems like every Samoan fullback in the PAC-12 is pretty good.
It's very possible that Houma could put on 20-25 lbs in the next two years and be 235-240 by the time he's ready to contribute.
