Scoreboard movement
Quick! They are putting a piece of the scoreboard in place

I tried to use my mouse to help put it in place, and I think I did actually help.
i knew maxis was up to something.
heat index is currently 113F.... hope they have plenty of water up there.
pretty anticlimactic.....well it was fun while it lasted.
p.s. why is the live feed fast forwarding?
are both scoreboards at the same level of completion? or do we not have an update on the other one?
thank you for the link.
So is it safe to assume Mgoblue isn't doing the Countdown to Kickoff videos like they did last year? Didn't that start 50 days out or am I mistaken?
I thought they did them a month before. If they're not doing them it'll be a very long august...
can't edit from my phone but last year they did 30
Thank goodness, I'm dying to know how the rest of Calvin's internship went!
Some info on fall practice would be nice, too.
Calvin?
Jesus, I played against Kelvin in high school...
Hmm, are they going to border the square with something? Or will it be one giant screen?
based on this image..
and the press release, which says the actual screens will be 47 feet high and 85 feet wide, i'm assuming what we see now is the (almost) complete screen size. If you count the levels of the frame, the current screen is almost exactly 4 stories, which aligns pretty well with the 47'.
Interesting question. I had been thinking that the video screen would cover the entire area of the scoreboard frame, but if you look at the original rendering of the new scoreboards (below), there’s a border all the way around. It seems like they have just three more sections to go, and the video screen portion of the scoreboard will be complete.
Seems like we had the same idea. Also, think they're going to use the old michigan stadium letters for the top part of the board?
Boo to the letters being wasted in a concourse! They'd be great on the top of the board.
Side note...anyone know the reason that we didn't go for "BIGGEST BOARD ANYWHERE!"?
The new boards already look ridiculously large. I think if they were much larger, it would look pretty tacky from the outside.
Fair point. I haven't seen them in person yet but if the guess is correct that the sides and top will be "paneling" of sorts (or maybe that will be audio housing), then the screen size might be smaller than earlier thought. In any event, can't wait to see them...or, better yet...can't wait for the season to start!
That looks extremely stupid
That's what she said. To you.
Why would it say "go wolverines" instead of "go blue"? I don't think I've ever said that phrase in my life.

Also, why use different block M's in different spots, and why EVER use the stupid one with Michigan written across it? I have oh so many questions.
I have my doubts that the bottom part hanging off is totally accurate. The Yost one had a different font for the Yost lettering so we've already seen that the renderings weren't perfect.
Comparing to the bottom part of the Yost board (rendering v actual), it seems like that bottom panel might be an attachment to the board which is also a "video screen"...so they could change wacky things like the "Michigan" line-M and "Go Wolverines".
Here's hoping that's true and that the text they show never appears there. Let's all start emailing DB with suggestions like:
"Hide your coolers, show your tats" when OSU comes to town
"Sparty nooo" when MSU visits and does something ridiculous
We should start small and just hope it isn't used as a scroll for the lyrics to "Who Let the Dawgs Out" or "Sweet Caroline".
Anyway, here's the Yost board before it was raised:
...and then after it was raised, they added the ring to the bottom. Seems like that is what might be coming in the football situation as well.
The block M's on the sides look totally out of place. Plus the font of "Michigan Stadium"...well it sucks.
How about night time scoreboard installation under the lights?
Are MASSIVE
TWSS.
To Chef last night...
at 3:37 pm, it has got to be hotter than Columbus up there!
If the real cost of the scoreboard were calculated, particularly the lost hours from us lost souls who sit at our desks watching the thing go up, it would be staggering.
But Damn you know it's a slow week in July when we're jonesing for panels going up on a board.
I hope they forget and keep this cam up during games. Or do so on purpose. That would be cool.
Do you think they need whip line?
IT MOVED, JERRY!
is a monument to summer boredom.
Ooooh, I see the moths flying in the floodlights!
only one more to go!
Any idea on the cost to install that in my house? I am willing to take out a load bearing wall.
