Not a big deal but I guess T.R. and RJS will take visits.
Per Twitter Terry Richardson and RJS say they are going to take their visits mainly because well why not? lol I dont think its a big deal and TR even twitted they are sold on UM and not to worry but I just thought I'd share. I would post the link not sure how.Just passing along what I saw but don't panic. I think if I was in their shoe's I would probably do the same.
Must be a new one . .
Allen Treiu with the scoop and what the Michigan coaches told him. I don't have an account so can someone paraphrase please?
i don't blame dem one bit.
They are not committed, only interested.
This will get interesting.
Again, I don't like it, and it makes me uncomfortable. But if the coaches are OK with it, then I'm OK with it. They know these guys a lot better than I.
It's interesting to see the different philosophies about commits visiting. I know some coaches don't allow it, while some are fine with it to make you more confident in your decision.
Prepare for more of MSU fans acting as Michigan fans harassing TR and RJS on twitter.
If I was a recruit, I'd pick Michigan then make my recruiting visits to:
1. Arizona State
2. Hawaii
3. USC
4. Texas
5. Florida?
It actually isn't that easy to take an official to Hawaii from what many have said. They know that they would just be a destination, and it costs a lot to bring kids there as well, so they make sure that there is great interest, almost to the point of ensuring a commitment if they are going to fly you there.
I would just keep telling them, "Yeah man I am all in." And after the visit just decommit and tell them I am allergic to salt water wind.
Nah, Central Florida. Good excuse to see Diseny World. Of course, that was too much for poor Willingham to resist. Sigh...how do you keep them on the farm after they've seen Mickey Mouse?
Too many retirees. I'd recommend Miami ... South Beach!
... Tennessee?
Come on, that's only because of Lane Kiffin's wife.
I wouldn't let any of our players near Golden until he gives our kicker back. The thieving magpie!
I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that Hawaii won't accept official visits unless they're convinced that you are seriously considering attending Hawaii, because it's really expensive for them.
Well, that would make sense. You would get an amazing quantity of visits otherwise...
Miami. If you're going to breeze through college in Florida, at least have scenery.
I'm sure Hoke and Mattison already made sure they were certain of their committment before they accepted it.
This is nothing to worry about. These are 17 year old kids who essentially get 5 free vacations (official visits) to some of the best college football programs in the nation. Everyone knows that RJS has wanted to go to Michigan for a while now and there is no reason for that to change. If anything, adding Mattison to the mix would make it even less likely that he would want to go elsewhere.
I look at this as a two friends taking some time to look around to make sure they're making the right decision. They're both solid, but if they see something that completely blows them away (even more than Mich.) then, maybe, they'll open up their recruitment again. I doubt this will happen, though.
GO BLUE
Makes total sense to go on visits. Hopefully this just confirms their interest in Michigan, but it's not the end of the world. I would do the same thing if I was good enough to be in their position
in Florida (summer) for visits (lose too much weight just sweating). And you guys seriously believe they will flip-flop?? They were one of the first to commit and they have, AND still are recruiting hard for UM. And nothing was mentioned about James "Biggs" Ross about visits. from my understanding they are close - like that movie 4 brothers (except 3 in their case)
I gotta call you out on this...couldn't you just have made a Three Musketeers reference? I mean, just so the numbers added up?
lack of brain cells and NCAA '12 (PS3) is on my mind - will 3 amigos suffice?
So long as we get the Amigo Salute, it is acceptable.
I would definitely do the same. Free swag, meet players that I've been watching on tv and party with hot chicks.
No worries at all.
Just so long as they don't visit Miami. For their own saftey, I mean. I swear, Al Golden craves wolverines the way Cookie Monster craves Snickerdoodles.
Golden only hit us hard last year due to the fact RR recruits were mainly Southerners. guarantee you this time around he has nothing on UM especially with Mattison in the fold
RJS tweets:

i want to take my visits to Oklahoma Miami Florida Alabama and Iowa and get a feel for every school.

i feel like i didnt give anyone a shot so here's their shot .
Well...that doesn't sound promising.
Well that makes it seem a little worse now doesn't it. Guess the coaches will just have to keeper recruiting them...
he takes an official to Michigan or at least unofficially comes to Ann Arbor for a game. It wouldn't be good if his fall only consisted of 5 games on other campuses. If he comes for a game, I don't have many worries about the other trips.
Oklahoma (Before Hoke had offered - Oklahoma was in the lead) and Iowa (Playing time) MAYBE make RJS reconsider. But no cigar
I don't think, on paper, I would be worried about any of them. I mean, look, lets be honest: I'm not worried. RJS seems as solid as anyone, wnyone still taking visits. But in our efforts not to let the mouthbreathers start a panicky stampede, lets not pretend that there's nothing to be worried about. Sometimes these kids go a place and don't come back. Maybe they fall in love with the campus, or whatever. It's just a fact. Other times they just committed to early and miss the spotlight, a la Shittu.
But I mean, am I worried about UO? No, RJS picked us over them, so we must be in the lead. But, yeah, you never know. Nothings set until the letter is signed.
I think there is always something to worry about when recruits visit other schools, though I don't think there is any reason to freak out right now about. We always say "If we get them to campus there is a chance", well the that wisdom goes both ways. There is always something to worry about when your commits visit other schools. But there is also a reason they committed to Michigan, and because they did, Michigan has to be the presumed favorite regardless.
I wish they didn't take officials because it increases the chance they end up elsewhere, but Michigan isn't in a position to tell guys "No, you can't do that." This is part of the gig you get yourself in to when a lot of people commit early, it comes with the territory. I still hope these guys end up at Michigan and I think Michigan still has the best shot at them, but stranger things have happened and sometimes these strange things can work out in Michigan's favor and sometimes not.
No committment is solid until NSD. But even if you want to consider these kids "uncommitted," Michigan at least has a huge lead on everyone else. Like, a GIGANTIC lead. So... yeah. Relax. Unbuckle.
-Chet
If Chet says to relax, I assume the end is nigh. I felt much safer when Chet was ecouraging me to panic.
Maybe you should get up to AA and try and convince them to stay.
Clearly those schools are going to take their best shots, and to be honest, that's cause to be concerned. But what are we going to do, live in fear? At some point you have to aknowledge the risk, take a deep breath and move on.
"You live by the Ghost Pirate, you die by the Ghost Pirate."
I know someone asked before, but I wonder what Hoke had to say
And partying with all the players and girls would make their time there worth it.
The "hard sale" is going to include parties and co-eds, and, when applicable, beaches as well. They know how to sell their schools, and it's not through boring the recruits to death. It's by making them believe their school is El Dorado and the prospect would be doing himself a disservice by going anywhere else for three to five years. Negative recruiting will rear its ugly head. It could get even more unsavory. Recruiting can be a sordid buisness.
back in the day when law firms fawned over graduates of the top schools, it was commonplace for 24 year olds who had made up their minds where they wanted to work to take recruiting trips to other cities and firms to see the cities and be treated royally. Why is it surprising that 17 year olds being recruited to play football would also take advantage of the opportunity? Now and then, someone might change his mind; but generally the trips were just for the fun of it.
Except nobody goes to Norman or Iowa City as tourists. It's not exactly the allure of being wined and dined that would draw you there, it is the football programs.
it amounts to the same thing on a different level. you like football, you get to see the football stadium, the campus, the girls. who wouldn't wnat to do that if you were being treated royally?
never visited other states. And financialy strapped. I know my broke ass would commit to UM less than a heartbeat and tell them I will take officials just to "see/experience" school(s) and a tour around the city. Always wanted to see Colorado. Hell, I take an official to Montana and swing by National YellowStone Park afterwards. Don't blame them wanting to see Miami...Beautiful women, scenery, and more women. Hope they like don't pass out from heat exhaustion tho . . ITS HOT
Eww-
