I thought most of the forum was supporting the idea of a one year suspension of Stonum, where he redshirts.  That implies working out with the team, which is a good thing since it provides structure and accountability.  You have all the duties to show up, stay in shape, keep your grades up, stay clean with the coaches while not getting the privilege of wearing maize aond blue on Saturday.

So far it seems like Floyd is on the same path.  He has things required of him but no one has indicated he'll take the field for the Irish yet.

It seems a little hypocritical for most of the forum to flame Kelly for this while wanting Stonum to redshirt.  You have to give the kid some kind of sign he can work his way back onto the field, if you just cut them off entirely you also lose all control of them.

This could be a very interesting supplemental draft this year for the NFL.  Is Floyd staying in shape for ND or the draft plus Pryor pretty much a shoe in for it.

If any of you really thought Brian Kelly was going to keep Notre Dame's best player suspended when he has a chance at a great season this year in only his second year of coaching you're crazy.

This is the same guy who managed to take his involvement for the death of Declan Sullivan from about one third of the responsibility to one thousandth.

and be consistent.

2 DUIs + probation violations (with jail time) >> 2 minor in possession of alcohol + DUI

Stonum's offenses are clearly worse and he is still with the team.  The claims of "Kelly = Dantonio" are so hilariously misguided I don't even know what to say.  It's OK to be a Michigan fan but being delusional is not a good quality.

IMO, 3 alcohol offenses and a player should be kicked off the team permanently, particularly if once of the offenses is a DUI.  The disciplinary message is clearly not getting through so it should be made tougher.  Floyd and Stonum should be removed from the programs and serve as a message to the others that they take discipline seriously.  Both are setting a dangerous precedent and may now have to deal with serious problems later.  Life generally does not grant 4th chances.

And yes, I know both aren't technically "with" the program at this point, but the fact that they have been given a path back to the team at all means the punishment is already too light.  Again, IMHO.
