OT: Good Comedies
I just finished rewatching the movie "What About Bob?'. I forgot how good of a comedy that was.
I need more suggestions for comedies. Good ones. I want to roll out of my Lazy Boy and wretch my stomach muscles.
We are entertaining a group of about 12 and have headlined the party as "A night of Comedy". We have loaded the bongs and prepared REALLY good food.
We need IDEAS for good DVD Comedy and we need this from the likes of MgoBlog. So, please rummage thru your wonderful brains and come up with a comedy or 2.
Thank you for your consideration. Blessings!

I must have watched that movie at least 25 times during the last two football seasons with all the dong-punches we've absorbed.

Just skimmed through and didn't see Chappelle. Some outstanding memories from the suggestions on here. Love me some Chappelle Show.
In 2000 the AFI came up with a list of 100 funniest American comedies. Here's the Top Ten:
1. Some Like It Hot
2. Tootsie
3. Dr. Strangelove
4. Annie Hall
5. Duck Soup
6. Blazing Saddles
7. M*A*S*H
8. It Happened One Night
9. The Graduate
10. Airplane!
that puts Some Like it Hot, Tootsie and The Graduate in their top 10 comedies. Dr. Strangelove? MASH? Sure it was a movie, but it wasn't much of a comedy AFAIC. Duck Soup is good stuff though.
I wouldn't disrespect those who felt otherwise.
Gentlemen, you can't fight in here, this is the War Room!
- President Merkin Muffley
Major TJ 'King' Kong : Well, boys, I reckon this is it - nuclear combat toe to toe with the Roosskies... I reckon you wouldn't even be human being if you didn't have some pretty strong personal feelings about nuclear combat.
Life.
The Big Lebowski OVER THE LINE!!!
Caddyshack, The last time I saw a mouth like that it had a hook in it
Ace Venture: Pet Detective, I came to Confess, I was the second gunman on the grassy knoll
Liar Liar, I've Had better
Also would agree with Super Troopers and Trading Places, and would also suggest the Hot Shots! movies, a hilarious documentary called American Movie, and all the Naked Guns, Machete is also ridiculous.
Gotta have The Big Lebowski, it's a classic, and there's reason to believe The Dude attended Michigan as he claims he is one of the authors of the Original Port Huron Statement (not the compromised second draft) and we all know SDS started in Ann Arbor, damn hippies.
More intelligent humor than the dumbed down stuff they are putting out today. Can sorta make the comparison that the 80's was Michigan humor. Then it got dumbed down to OSU humor during the 90's and into the 2000's
Back to School
Strange Brew
Weird Science
Real Genius
Ferris Bueller's Day off
Revenge of the Nerds
The Sure Thing
FLETCH
Porky's
A Christmas Story
Stripes
Airplane
I saw my pimp today.
for apparently being the first to mention Real Genius, Weird Science, Ferris Bueller AND Fletch in a thread with 150 replies. How could we all miss Fletch??
Aside from the fashion trend, some good things came out of the 80's.
Try the The In-laws, but for goodness sake the 1979 version with Peter Falk and Alan Arkin. It isn't slappy like Airplane, so maybe it's not the number one choice for what you're setting up. But, I thought it deserved a mention.
BTW, how the hell is The Graduate a comedy? That movie deserves to be on a top-ten list, but not that one.
Accepted and while it's not a movie do yourself a favor and watch the Jim Gaffigan stand-up. It's hilarious and at least one is available streaming from Netflix

Grandmas Boy- hilarious Kung Pow- So stupid that it is great. The Other Guys was funny as hell too. Coming to America, Caddyshack, Naked Gun, Airplane, Black Dynamite, Team America, Step Brothers, Beerfest and Super Troopers. just to name a few.
Some Tv Shows- South Park That's my Bush- made by the South Park guys. I thought it was hilarious as it's a send up to all cheesy sitcoms, and also rips on George Bush in the nicest way possible. Spaced is another good one. It is a british comedy from Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg. Hilarious and Warped.

Beverly Hills Cop.
(And Cannonball Run II, for the cleavage if nothing else.)
Anything with Will Ferrel.
I would have to go with Orgazmo and Team America. I also love both of the Fletch movies and any of the Chevy Chase National Lampoon's Vacation movies.
