With everything else on the board about him, it sounds more and more like he is now a silent commit and will become a verbal commit on April 15th when he makes his "announcement"
March 29th, 2011 at 11:41 AM ^
If that's the case, he's not being all too silent about it.
March 29th, 2011 at 11:44 AM ^
Can you blame him? He is excited to become a Wolverine, but as an 18-year old kid he wants the glory and spotlight on him at a press conference to announce his (albeit already known) college decision.
March 29th, 2011 at 12:00 PM ^
Every time I see people talking about him being a silent commit I think "shut up, shut up, shut up". Would be nice if people weren't so nosey and would let the kid have his moment.
March 29th, 2011 at 12:22 PM ^
It was on Twitter, which is public...
Well, what the hell are you reading twitter for? That's his news and it's private and he should be able to announce it publicly when he wants to announce it.
Look what you did, ya little jerk. /s
March 29th, 2011 at 12:24 PM ^
Have his moment? The kid is Tweeting the news. I don't think he cares too much about keeping it "silent"...
March 29th, 2011 at 12:35 PM ^
the silence is deafening. He is having fun with this. Good for him

I really want some 4 stars to start rolling in. We need to beat out the that state down south, not cincinatti, msu, and a bunch of mac schools for the players were getting. I am starting to question the quality of our 136 or so offers.
March 29th, 2011 at 11:43 AM ^
Kaleb Ringer is ranked 10th in Ohio by OSU's Rivals site. That is a holy lock to be a 4 star right now.
Satisfied?
March 29th, 2011 at 11:45 AM ^
I got my info from Scouts. I like Rivals more, but there wasn't a ranking so I went with availible info.
March 29th, 2011 at 11:57 AM ^
I normally get my rankings from my magic eight ball. Ringer came in at a strong 'Absolutely!'. I'm pretty pumped.
Last time I did that I woke up in a gutter dressed in women's clothes.
So you're saying theres something wrong with that....
I thought he meant that as the conclusion to an average Tuesday night...
You need an answer ... YOU ASK THE 8 BALL.
March 29th, 2011 at 12:06 PM ^
many of its high ratings. They only set 11 guys as 5 stars thus far. They usually end with 50 or so. Some of their current 4's will become 5's. I think you can probably figure out where I'm heading. Ringer is probably going to be a 4 star when they get a more complete ranking done.
Also, he's a Sparty legacy, so there's that we can make fun of our enemies for.
March 29th, 2011 at 12:53 PM ^
Isn't he more of an Iowa legacy considering his dad played there? His ucle Javon played at MSU. I am actually curious to know what people think a legacy recruit is.
I was not aware his father played college ball until I read that post. I guess he'd be more of an Iowa legacy, but I think you're somewhat of a legacy or have some connection to anywhere your family played. Unless of course he just doesn't like Uncle Javon or something.
March 29th, 2011 at 12:20 PM ^
He is the #1 LB in Ohio for Scout. He will be a 4 star. Also, watch players film before you start speaking against recruits ya troll.
I was saying he will be a 4 star because of the persons concern. I think my point about watching his film seemed clear that I could careless about his stars.
Especially Grand Stars...
March 29th, 2011 at 11:06 PM ^
go for the Grand Stars!
March 29th, 2011 at 11:43 AM ^
who wants the top rated linebacker in Ohio?
March 29th, 2011 at 12:00 PM ^
But, but, he wasn't offered by OSU, so he can't be good, right?
March 29th, 2011 at 11:44 AM ^
Kaleb Ringer is the 16th best player in Ohio according to start and will be a 4 star when they release their actual full first set of rankings. It baffles me why people get all hot and bothered by the initial sets of rankings by any of the recruiting services when they are not even complete.
March 29th, 2011 at 12:01 PM ^
Exactly. Neither Scout, Rivals or ESPN have released an initial ranking yet. Not sure why people are getting upset about lack of star ratings, since you know, it hasn't been fully released yet...
And that's not even getting in to the whole 'does star rating matter' argument which has been rehashed over and over again.
What I find most interesting is that people have been asking about where the 3* star mafia went and we're having the star rating discussion about a possible commit who by most accounts WON'T be a 3*. Mind bottlin'.
March 29th, 2011 at 12:23 PM ^
I would only accept commits from star rated recruits in my program. The only 12 rated recruits Rivals has as 5 stars. /s
March 29th, 2011 at 12:49 PM ^
gets about 50% right anyways. Sam Bradford was a 3 star prospect. In 2010 NFL draft, there were 5 first round picks that were rated a 2 star.
"It baffles me why people get all hot and bothered by the initial sets of rankings by any of the recruiting services when they are not even complete."
It justifiable why people get all hot about it, because of the notion of "Carr's last few year the recruiting really slipped" recieves more credibility. It should not baffle you, at all. Its been said by many insiders that Michigan recruiting took a hit ever since Les Miles and LSU staff told Jai Eugene that Carr had onset of Parkinsons... and RR classes haven't helped the notion that M recruiting isn't what it used to be. This will change, with Hoke, however. It'll start with getting the big Ohio recruits this year, including Dunn, away from tSIO.
But Ringer is a top player in Ohio. He is the #1 rated LB in the state regardless of recruiting service, and will be a 4 star player when, you know, the actual rankings come out. My point was that complete rankings are not even released yet on any recruiting service to pass must judement on them.
I realize that we need better players to get back on top again, but at least wait until anything other than pre-camp season watchlist rankings come out before freaking out about where a player is ranked, no?
Your are making TOO much sense! (+1)
March 29th, 2011 at 11:48 AM ^
but knowing who these kids are and how they fit your program is more important. look at WI recruiting. they rarely have much of a "star" class, but they are consistently good because they recruit people who fit their system and are coachable. then look at Justin Turner or Demar Dorsey, and realize that all the stars in the world mean nothing if you are not somewhat serious about school and willing to work to exploit your natural talent. everyone wants to see a bunch of 4 and 5 stars, but those stars are no guarantee of success.
March 29th, 2011 at 11:55 AM ^
hmmm....is that you BWC???
March 29th, 2011 at 11:50 AM ^
Just have to be patient, it is still early. Coach Hoke and guys are still catching up after a late start. And once the season starts and we start playing well then things will look even better.
March 29th, 2011 at 12:26 PM ^
...then make your decision. I am not an expert at breaking down game film, but looked to me like he played downhill, was aggressive, loved to hit, and was good in zone coverage. Yeah, I know, highlights are highlights. But, if I see a video of last years linbacker play and any of those attributes are displayed by anyone other that #25, it will be the first time I see it.
Hey look everybody....it's Trolly McTrollovich trolling in his trolley down Trolling Trail.
Wave Hi kids.
I really don't care how many stars he has at this point. His video says one thing, "beast."
March 29th, 2011 at 11:43 AM ^
yeah I found that earlier but wasnt able to create a post. But its definitly a good pickup, nice to see the commits start coming in.
March 29th, 2011 at 11:45 AM ^
Tom's posted several times (and I've noted in Wednesday Recruitin' posts) that he plans to make a public commitment the day before the spring game.
As far as whether that commitment is to Michigan... things certainly look promising, no?
March 29th, 2011 at 11:48 AM ^
6'0" 220lb linebacker, YES PLEASE! I mean, he just screams deadly linebacker ready to take your head off

Kid sounds excited about Michigan, which I absolutely love. Great news if true.
March 29th, 2011 at 12:08 PM ^
And if you have any question about his athletic genes just look to his cousin. He must REALLY love michigan to not even give State a few months of attention to appease his cousin.
March 29th, 2011 at 12:36 PM ^
MSU slow played him and only upped the attention once Ringer got really interested in Michigan. I believe they thought he was in the bag.
March 29th, 2011 at 12:42 PM ^
Now there's the Sparty we all know and love.
IIRC, the main reason Javon Ringer went there in the first place was because he never got an offer from us or OSU. It's not like he turned everyone down to go to Sparty. They should have realized that kids just don't normally do that, especially from out of state.
"MSU is coming off an 11-2 season and a share of the Big Ten championship. That should allow the Spartans to be very selective about whom they offer. U-M is in a rebuilding stage and new coach Brady Hoke is being aggressive and stirring early interest." FREEP, 3/24/11 - Matt Dorsey is a recruiting analyst for SpartanMag.com and Rivals.com
They're just like Texas now dude
How great is it that State's coming off their best season in recent history (granted luck, convicts and a JV schedule helped that greatly) and they're off to a nothing start with recruiting. No big names are coming out of Renaissance, the SE pipeline seems dry and (back to the norm) no one cares about State.
