Charlotte, North Carolina - Open Thread
Is anyone going to be in Charlotte on Friday for the game? I ask because I work about 3 blocks from the Time Warner Arena and am looking for someone to accompany me (or vice-versa) to the game. I plan on going regardless of time - Michigan hoops only comes here to Charlotte once in a blue moon - if its an afternoon game, work can wait! Let me know and maybe we can set up a group of MGoAttendees.
Also, for those of you coming from out of state, use this thread for any questions/concerns that you have about the area (lodging, food, sights to see, etc.) and I'll do my best to be your MGoTravelAdvisor.
Will you fly me down there and pay for my ticket? If so, I'd love to be your MGoDate.
If I wasn't going wedding venue touring all day saturday up in NY I'd for sure be there. Enjoy and be loud.
Plane tickets from Detroit to Charlotte are well over $600 dollars for the weekend. Are there any wealthy alums who want to subsidize student trips to Charlotte? I will pay for my own Bojangles, Chick-fil-a, and Lexington style BBQ.
BISCUITVILLE, man
Cook-Out is a great chain too. Mind-blowing shakes.
Friday breakfast at Biscuitville (I know the founder's daughter), lunch at Chick-fil-a, dinner at Bojangles, and Cookout as a late night victory celebration. Then drive to Greensboro to go to Stamey's on Saturday.
Great call. Gotta go with a chicken & pork combo plate. Peach cobbler for dessert is NOT optional.
Just don't stop for anything but gas....
I'm in Columbia SC. Any idea on pricing yet? Wife and two year old might come with as well depending on price
I've got a wife and 3-year-old at home but I'm thinking I'll do it sans family if its an afternoon game. Lets check the time when its posted and hammer out some possible plans. Yes?

$87 . Sans family i agree. Was thinking they might be a bit cheaper. Not sure if non-season ticket holders will have a chance tomorrow, but worth a shot.
be attending...any early word on where to buy tickets?
I would assume MGoBlue.com
Live it Fort Mill. Work in Rock Hill. Got no problem taking work off. Problem is paying for the ticket to get in. It wouldn't be so annoying if they weren't gonna be so close!
If I wanna watch it with others I'll probably have to head down to Tavern On The Tracks.
I'd say its nice to see some M fans in the area, but I've been to Tavern for a few football games so I know the fans are here. Unfortunately, I see far more Buckeyes down here than Wolverines.
Go Blue!
then hope Duke and UNC are in the evening session and sell your one day ticket for $$$. That's if they still do all-day tickets.
I used to go to Tavern for games but I couldn't take it anymore. Hence the need for my MGoInvitation this evening - I'd much rather watch the game with internet friends that I've never met that the majority of the Tavern crowd.
My own need for Tavern (to see the Big Ten Network games) went away when I got DirectTV.
Are you asking me out?
I'd say yes.
Jealous and would totally have gone, if I hadn't planned a weekend trip to Nicaragua. No seriously.
I live in CLT and will definitely be going Sunday against Duke!

My buddy and I are planning on driving down from Detroit on Thursday so that we can relax and go bar-hopping Thursday night. I plan on buying the tix tomorrow via MGOBLUE.com once my buddy gets the green-light from the misses. Any suggestions on a reasonable hotel in the area? Go Blue!

Are you looking to stay in walking distance? The hotels in the city are going to obviously more expensive than outside. What is your price range?

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but I can't start a new one yet--I created an account just to post this. Any season ticket holders on here (student or otherwise) who are not able to make it to Charlotte and who might be willing to help out some fellow fans? I am an alum living near Charlotte and would love to be there to support the team, but the Athletic Dep't is giving preference to season ticket holders with its allotment, and Carolina and Duke fans are snatching up any publicly available tickets. My wife (also an alum) and I would be eternally grateful to anyone who'd like to help increase the M presence at the games. Thanks.

If there are any season ticket holders out there willing to buy an extra two tickets, please shoot me an email at [email protected]. I would really love to get a chance to go and sit with the Michigan faithful. Kansas City was the best sports weekend in recent memory, and I would really love an opportunity to top this experience.

Here's what they responded with when asked if there was room for non-hoops season ticket holders:
"We won’t know until after 2pm but will respond to you this afternoon if we are able to take an order."

I really cannot imagine hoops season ticket holders taking the entire allotment. I'm a season ticket holder for football. I mentioned that in my inquiry. I'll let u guys know if I hear anything this afternoon.

I'm an alum currently living in Chapel Hill and trying to go to the game. Looks like session 1 includes the UM/Tennessee game and Duke/Hampton afterwards. Does anyone know if you can leave after the UM game and sell your ticket for someone else to re-enter for the following (Duke) game?
As a UNC employee, I doubly loath Dook, and will likely attempt to re-sell my ticket even if re-entry is not permitted.
Also, if anyone is in the Chapel Hill/Durham/Raleigh area and interested in going to the game let me know. Up for getting rowdy beforehand.

No sir, that is a no-go. Once you're in, you're in for good.
