12/07/2017 - 4:26pm Delayed payment

I think in many cases payment is delayed on these, because in a few months he’ll either have a huge contract or, if injured, his insurance policy would pay out, and he could pay for the premium with the proceeds. I think when LeBron had a Hummer in highschool (remember when those were cool?) it was likely the same situation.

12/05/2017 - 10:13pm Actually...

I think RR is a great fit for Oregon. He may be the best available option for them, and they could almost certainly outbid Arizona, with sugar daddy Phil Knight’s help.

10/25/2017 - 11:10am So sorry.

I am heartbroken for you and your wife, and wish you peace and healing. God bless.

10/16/2017 - 9:31pm Alber’s

Tiny, out in the country, beautiful drive, old-fashioned Press that you can watch, usually not very busy at all (although I last went about 4 years ago, don’t live in MI, anymore). Lots of varieties of apples. Good donuts. Doesn’t have big corn mazes, etc., but I want to go to an apple orchard/cider mill, not a cheesy state fair. Recommended.

Long time compared to what? Bone? Ligament? C'mon, man...

I think you're up to 6 cents at this point, buddy.

08/12/2017 - 10:04pm '04 PSU game

Heard the Manningham TD catch on the radio in the parking lot at Randazzo's. I screamed in my wife's face and freaked her out. She had no idea why I was screaming, lol. I still have never seen that play.

07/15/2017 - 8:45am Others

Frank Sinatra and Aretha Franklin aren't "Rock", but they are the best popular vocalists of the 20th century of any genre. So if all these other names are best in category, they're best in show.

Other greats that I haven't seen mentioned: Mick Jagger, Elton John, Billy Joel.

I'm not as old as I sound, I promise...

09/15/2016 - 4:44pm Exactly. I'm from Utah.

Exactly. I'm from Utah. There aren't that many die-hard Oregon fans in Utah, but plenty of Utah/BYU fans. Major flaw in the way they did this that makes it pretty inaccurate for a lot of states, I would think (probably explains, at least in part, why ND is so over-represented in the n)ortheast.

07/20/2016 - 2:15pm Passed up partial scholarship

Passed up partial scholarship at OSU Med (YTOSU), to go to U of M full price. No regrets whatsoever.

06/07/2016 - 1:33pm Kind of... But on the other

Kind of... But on the other hand we've entered an era where long term conference allegiances and tradition are for sale because the money is so big. If the tv dollars disappear, they'll realign again, based on whatever the market forces are in the future, but in the meantime they have to go along with it. If they don't, they'll get killed by the competition, both on and off the field.

04/26/2016 - 10:04pm It has to be a LITTLE hard,

It has to be a LITTLE hard, right? Ivy League schools don't give athletic scholarships. You could play at Stanford or Michigan or UCLA on a full ride.

04/21/2016 - 12:45pm Almost all TV-related stuff

Almost all TV-related stuff listed here (except Seinfeld and Simpsons). Just not into tv shows, for the most part. Never smoked or drank or used any drugs. Except Michigan football - that's my drug.

11/25/2015 - 2:57pm freak athlete

He is acrobatic even when he's picking himself up off the ground.  I noticed that early on this year.  It shows how athletic he is, because you just don't see that very often.

Awesome. Rudock looks like a completely different player, throwing with confidence. Great profile of Chris Wormley, too. Seems like an outstanding kid.

Darryl Dawkins preceded my fanhood by a few years, but he was featured in a basketball dunks and bloopers movie I watched about a million times as a kid. He was taking about breakaway rims, that were introduced because of his proclivity to shatter backboards, and said "they can still be broken! If you hit it from the side, it's gonna break!" He seemed like a really cool dude. RIP, Chocolate Thunder.

08/22/2015 - 2:52pm BYU undergrad and UM med, so

BYU undergrad and UM med, so I root for BYU just as much as Mich. Honestly not sure how I'm going to resolve that one this year. I think I'm going to be sad regardless what happens...

05/10/2015 - 12:17am As I said in my post, I'm

As I said in my post, I'm glad I don't have to make that decision, but if you're pressing me for what I'd do, then no, I don't think I would have drafted him. It's not a "punishment", it's a business decision. And people face ramifications in employment beyond what the legal system would impose all the time, so equating the two is silly. People get fired for offensive tweets on a regular basis, for example.

05/09/2015 - 10:59pm Seems like maybe you are the

Seems like maybe you are the one who doesn't get it. This information is relevant not because "OMG he said rude things!" but because A) it provides additional evidence that he actually did hit her (the Seahawks have tried to imply he didn't), and B) he lied to police afterward and tried to manipulate his way out. Both should be relevant to anyone trying to judge whether they should take a chance on the guy. I'm glad I don't have to make that decision, and I don't pretend to know all the facts about this case, but if these things are true, they just make Clark look that much worse, and the Seahawks' position that much more dubious.

04/28/2015 - 8:33am The Horror. And it's not

The Horror. And it's not close.

After that, when BYU (my college alma mater) lost 3-0 to arch rival Utah in a 3 hour blizzard.

After that, when Oregon took us to the woodshed the week after the Horror.

After that, the Nebraska game last year.

After that, BYU loss to ND in ND stadium last year, coldest game in South Bend in 20 years.

Come to think of it, I've been to some pretty crappy games...

04/02/2015 - 12:09am Here's a "cool story, bro",

Here's a "cool story, bro", but it pertains. I went to BYU undergrad, and knew a guy named Todd Mortensen. Great guy, backup QB on the Football team, but rarely saw the field, and when he did he made everyone groan. He subsequently transfers as a fifth-year senior to San Diego and plays under a first-time head coach named Jim Harbaugh, blows up, and spends a few years as a backup on the Lions and Patriots. Point is this: Harbaugh has a track record of taking guys others have failed with, or who have flown under the radar, and turning them into really good players. There is plenty of reason for optimism that at least one player on the roster next year will be a solid-to-above-average QB by the end of the year.

01/08/2015 - 11:27am Cool story, bro: I went to

Cool story, bro: I went to BYU in the early 2000's and Todd Mortensen was a casual acquaintance. Great guy, really smart, but I never thought he had ANY future as a quarterback. Whenever he got limited PT at BYU, he sucked. That Harbaugh turned him into a beast as a fifth-year senior who got roster spots on pro teams is very impressive to me.

01/22/2014 - 9:58pm Wow.

Just wow.  He could have killed that guy.  He hits his head the wrong way, or snaps his neck the wrong way, he's dead.

11/06/2013 - 9:47pm Opt out clause

These types of deals are common for independent schools, so they know they have something set up, but they will generally have an opt out clause in the event of, say, a BCS invite. It's similar to mid-major conferences that have deals with certain bowls but if they get a BCS invite they can go to that bowl instead.

10/27/2013 - 1:29pm Very interesting play. I

Very interesting play. I think the call was clearly right, as most have said, and I think it was mostly Saltalamacchia's fault (I think his play has been shaky at best in the WS, starkly contrasted with Molina, who is a rock behind the plate). No one has commented, though, about Molina's timid slide home. He didn't even get to the base and barely made any contact with the catcher. The right play for him in this instance is to absolutely truck Salty so he can't make the throw in the first place. The Cards were lucky how things worked out, but not knowing the outcome beforehand, Molina should have blasted him. Wonder if he didn't do it because he's also a catcher...

09/04/2013 - 7:30am Paging Alfred Taubman

Your move, Alfred...

09/02/2013 - 10:14am Nice post

Thanks for the post, agree on pretty much everything.  Sorry to hear about your Dad, sounds like an awesome guy - nice tribute, too.

04/02/2013 - 12:03am Whatever.

Any school in America will fire their coach without thinking twice if they have a couple of bad seasons. Why should coaches be more committed to the school than the school is to them? Yeah, I know, the kids, but the players know that's how it is, and heck, even the best players take the opportunity to leave early when they can.

03/28/2013 - 7:06pm Agreed

I've only owned one bball jersey (when I was 17), and felt like a tool whenever I wore it. Not doing that again.

03/07/2013 - 12:06am Zags

See my comment above - BYU could beat Gonzaga in their tournament. I'd give them a 30% chance.

(full disclosure: I'm a BYU grad as well as UM grad, so yes, total homer. But this is definitely NOT outside the realm of possibility for the reasons stated in my other post, namely Vegas is practically home court for BYU in the WCC).

03/06/2013 - 11:59pm Gonzaga

It's a bit of a long shot, but BYU could potentially beat Gonzaga in the WCC tournament. It takes place in Vegas, which is practically a home game for BYU (tons of Mormons, and close enough to Provo that their students will be well-represented). BYU lost to the Zags at home by five last week. If Gonzaga were to lose in their tournament, I think they'd lose their #1 seed.

03/06/2013 - 11:42pm Crean

And Tom Crean will be telling his players it's all about "The Team, The Team, The Team" and crediting Harbaugh for the phrase. When he said that after they beat us earlier this year, I wanted to reach out and choke him through the TV set.

03/06/2013 - 11:20pm DVR

That's why you never, EVER record a sports event without an extra hour of record time, because they do sometimes run long, and occasionally very long. Speaking from sad experience.

02/27/2013 - 1:26pm Jazz

Jazz, yes please. Jazz fans are still mourning the loss of Deron Williams.

09/07/2012 - 4:44pm Denard is not running 30 times

I think Brian is right on most of the time, but the prediction that Denard will run the ball 30 times in this game is ridiculous, IMHO. If Michigan really is going to blow AF away, why in the world would Borges risk Denard's health and run him repeatedly, especially if Fitz is back?  Historically with Borges we mostly see heavy deployment of Denard dilithium only when the rest of the offense isn't working. Otherwise it's just sprinkled in here and there.

I predict Denard runs the ball ~10 times, and comes out of the game in the late 3rd quarter if we have a comfortable lead, at which point Bellomy straps on his helmet and we get our first real look at him, which will be interesting.

12/22/2011 - 10:31pm Nice one

We have a recruit (Houma) coming from Utah this year, smart guy.

12/12/2011 - 9:07pm Comment

I don't think that picture is Denard's staph "boo boo". Wasn't it near his elbow on his throwing arm, not his left hand? Remember the big bandage he wore on his arm for a while?

11/27/2011 - 11:46am Love this guy.

If I had a son looking to play college ball, I'd want him to play for Hoke. So many people have commented this season about what a great group of guys this team is, and how loyal they are to each other, and that starts at the top.

04/04/2011 - 2:49pm Ain't that right.

With you 100%, brother. What a schmuck.
