Will Johnson wavering?
Not great, Bob...
Five-star Will Johnson is concerned about his future with the Wolverines should coach Jim Harbaugh leave.
February 1st, 2022 at 6:53 PM ^
It just seems odd that Jim would labor so long and hard to get this team/program "right" again... just to risk letting it collapse again now.

Especially since Extra Melanin shouted from the rooftops he wasn't leaving and condescended to anyone with a strong opinion otherwise.
February 1st, 2022 at 8:39 PM ^
Obsess much? He wasn't the only one saying that.
February 1st, 2022 at 9:17 PM ^
SDW, you are dead wrong and i challenge you to find a post of mine that does anything other than state my opinion and the reasons for it. no name calling, no snide comments like, 'only an idiot would think otherwise'. never and that's not my nature or my posting history. when anyone made a comment along the lines of asking if i was sure, my response was always something like, 'i realize there is a non-zero chance' or 'i know its a possibility, but...', etc.

Oh goodness, they let him back?
February 1st, 2022 at 10:35 PM ^
even better. seth was gracious enough to help me sign up.
how you doing 1606?
February 1st, 2022 at 7:40 PM ^
Why does it seem odd he would prioritize himself above all else when push comes to shove?
February 1st, 2022 at 7:59 PM ^
This isn't exactly a "him or us" scenario. He has a better situation here, now, than perhaps any other time in his tenure - with pay comparable to any NFL team (not like he needs the money anyway). How long would Minnesota stick with him if he doesn't win the division and/or conference?
February 1st, 2022 at 8:00 PM ^
Did push really come to shove right here at this point though? That was last year. This year the program has the most momentum it's had since.... '97?
More likely, he realizes this may be his last chance to jump to the NFL because his stock is high right now and if he signs his UM extension he's going to have a significant buyout if he leaves.
Complete conjecture on my part, but I have to think he's not pleased with the contract he worked on this past year and is reluctant to agree to huge buyout on his end as his reward for getting UM to the playoffs when he wasn't valued a year ago and knows he'll never have much influence on admissions, NIL, etc.
I hope like hell we don't find out down the road that his UM offer was significantly less than Tucker, Franklin, etc. just signed, but with a higher buyout on JH's end. Something tells me that's a real possibility though.

When Harbaugh says he loves Michigan and would coach for free, what he really means is, this is what the fans want to hear, but he couldn't give a rat's ass about them. It’s all about him and what he wants, and if it screws Michigan over, screws recruits over, upsets the fans, he obviously doesn't care.
February 2nd, 2022 at 6:23 AM ^
- Solution: just hire Tom Brady to replace Harbaugh. I heard Brady isn't doing much these days. Recruits will line up.
February 1st, 2022 at 6:53 PM ^
Don't read Detroit newspapers....
February 1st, 2022 at 6:54 PM ^
I don't blame him at all.

IF true

Earlier today, I sent a threatening email to the Board of Regents. This is all going to work out fine

February 1st, 2022 at 7:26 PM ^
Scrambled or over easy?
February 1st, 2022 at 6:55 PM ^
This is the kind of stuff I'm worried about.
Hopefully it's much ado about nothing, but if Johnson ends up leaving, Harbaugh's name is going to be mud with a wide span of the Michigan fanbase.
February 1st, 2022 at 9:28 PM ^
The people whose names should be mud are Warde Manuel and the university administration. Manuel created this train wreck starting last year with his incompetent decision to embarrass Harbaugh by cutting his pay in half. It's become clear that Michigan's ceiling is beating OSU once a decade and winning the B1G once every 15 years only to get crushed in the CFP and the university and athletic department are just fine with that.
February 1st, 2022 at 9:53 PM ^
Meh - the same people screaming at the roof tops for Harbaugh to be fired last year will be the name is mud people this year.
Whatever. They can’t be pleased.
Hopefully, Warde has a succession plan, and it is a good one.
February 2nd, 2022 at 10:20 AM ^
This is the appropriate take. This is on a University that can't get out of its own way. Arrogance with nothing to be arrogant about behind it.
February 1st, 2022 at 11:06 PM ^
That's bad, people will want him fired!
February 1st, 2022 at 6:56 PM ^
I doubt it.
February 1st, 2022 at 7:26 PM ^
NIL deals can't legally be an inducement to signing with a team or staying with a team so why would it matter?
February 1st, 2022 at 7:42 PM ^
wait, what do you doubt?
only doubt I see here is that I doubt you understand how NIL deals work.
February 1st, 2022 at 6:57 PM ^
And some people think that Harbaugh is still doing his job here and recruiting his butt off. He is hurting Michigan.
February 1st, 2022 at 6:59 PM ^
None of us know what he has told the players and newly signed recruits
February 1st, 2022 at 7:07 PM ^
We know what he told Clemons but I’m curious to see how these 2023 pitches have gone. Hard to trust a coach who so is so openly and publicly ready to leave.
February 1st, 2022 at 8:06 PM ^
According to the article he told Will's dad he was gone if he gets an NFL job.
February 1st, 2022 at 6:58 PM ^
I thought players committed to a university, not a coach...
February 1st, 2022 at 7:02 PM ^
Have you seen the mass exodus from Oklahoma to USC?
February 1st, 2022 at 7:42 PM ^
And I thought we were beyond people being this naive and stupid but here we are
February 2nd, 2022 at 6:32 AM ^
That phrase could potentially apply to a position coach. If the head coach left, you could end up in a system that doesn’t suit you at all.
February 1st, 2022 at 6:58 PM ^
with all of the chatter and "expert analysts" giving their opinions, I still believe Harbaugh will be back coaching Michigan for 2022
February 1st, 2022 at 7:57 PM ^
Would you play in a band on a large passenger ship?
February 1st, 2022 at 9:31 PM ^
Harberg dead ahead!!!
February 1st, 2022 at 7:01 PM ^
Hopefully Jim will be in-home with him tonight. Oh wait, He's in Minnesota.
February 1st, 2022 at 7:02 PM ^
This sucks. It's sort of hard to tell how good you are, or even how much to enjoy each victory until the year is over. Had we lost to OSU and our bowl game this would have been a 10-3 year. Good but not great. ...but we beat OSU and then Iowa and it was a great year. When you have a great year, you really enjoy for most of the next year until you either win or lose to MSU and OSU.
I hope Harbaugh stays and that he brings us another decade of great years and I will sing his praises.
If he leaves F him. Not even getting to enjoy this great year for more than a couple of months sucks. Gattis might be a great coach, but he has one good year as a coordinator. Gattis is not a HC coach-in-waiting. If we get a new coach our recruiting class and coaches scatter to the wind.
February 1st, 2022 at 7:05 PM ^
Why wouldn't he be wavering? Harbaugh has just set fire to the program.
February 1st, 2022 at 7:06 PM ^
Of course he is.
February 1st, 2022 at 7:09 PM ^
I'd imagine a large part of the class will be doing the same.
February 1st, 2022 at 7:15 PM ^
Will Johnson is a Michigan Man.
February 1st, 2022 at 7:16 PM ^
He committed to Michigan. He will stay the course
