If it weren’t for Chris Partridge our recruiting would be shit. This class really lacks the quality interior DL that you need to compete with the big boys. 2018 absolutely blows so far

This is honestly embarassing.  We recruited Friday hard since the beginning and "lead" for him for the majority of the process.  He was OSU's backup plan. BACKUP PLAN.  They didn't get their guy so they started recruiting Friday late and are still getting him.  Flat out embarassing.

Wow this sucks. This news coupled with what umbig11 said this morning about our next coaching hire not being to M fans delight, not good.

It was in the coaching rumors thread that's now been deleted. He basically said that mike hart is not coming here and that the 10th assistant is not a "splash" hire and one that fans will not be thrilled about. More of a recruiting coach. He also said he thinks pep is goin to NFL and that drevno is still up in the air as far as he's concerned. Umbig11 if I did not paraphrase you correctly, I apologize. Quickly glanced at what you said...

Goddamit why is it so hard for Michigan to recruit high caliber players? It seems to be so easy for all the other top notch programs (i.e. Ohio State, Alabama, USC, Georgia)...recruiting is so perplexing at times.

Ann Arbor is great, but it's flat out tough to sell kids on playing in the middle of Michigan in the modern recruiting world.  Tradition only gets you so far.  Is it really that perplexing to wonder why an 18 year old kid would want to live in Southern California for 4 years?

On top of that, if you actually sell them on the idea of moving across the country, you have to make sure they can get accepted into the school.  To add insult to injury, Michigan high school football isn't great.

Ohio State has the same kind of climate to sell, but Ohio high school football is strong enough to keep them afloat during any sort of down period.  Then they can pay for whatever they need to fill in the gaps.

Michigan was always at it's peak when we were getting kids out of Ohio, and they have to start winning some fucking games.

I don't know why we start these threads.  Reading through the comments make it seem like Michigan turned into Central Michigan overnight.

This sucks, 10 crystal balls to Ohio State today, including a few of the most reliable national guys.  Otis Reese is 70% UGA and 30% us for crystal balls now.

Reese leaves too and we will have 0 top 100 recruits while Ohio State has 12 or more.  We can withstand that for 1 class and still beat them, but it's not like we were on par with them before this year in recruiting.

We need to win in 2018 more than ever, we cannot afford the incoming talent disparity between us and Ohio State and ever expect to beat them.  The depth their type of recruiting creates is something that really makes a massive differnce when we play them the last week of the season.  They have backups who were top 100 players.

Class will be mostly wrapped before we are showing great results in 2018. We were recruiting 2019 kids with this season. Otis Reese committed in 2016 because we were good then. We will have to recruit really strongly to get ourselves out of this hole in 2019 and I’m not talking about kids committed to us now. Wouldn’t take long before Hinton gets interested in Georgia and his brother could too and that would finalize it. We could keep kids if we have a good season next year but the season won’t affect uncommitted kids that aren’t truly already wanting to go here.

This almost has to be about him. We’ve lead for Friday the whole time and then all of the sudden Ohio St comes out and steals him at the end? Nobody has seen anything confirming any contractual deals in place with Partridge staying here. He’s the primary recruiter with NJ connections and can’t close on him?
