Peter King had a pretty good interview with Brady in the latest Sports Illustrated.  He went to Brady's place in Montana and talked about how Brady stays healthy and takes care of his body.  Brady absolutely believes he can play at a high level through his mid-forties.

I love Tom Brady, but I think this storyline about his conditioning and diet helping propel him to play into his forties is nonsense. I think his ability to play into his 40s has more to do with the new NFL rules protecting the QB. He is not a mobile QB who takes a lot of hits outside the pocket. And it is much easier to avoid catastrophic injuries in the pocket with the new NFL rules protecting the QB.

Drew Brees is a 6'0 QB who is probably going to play into his 40s as well. I think this is may become more commonplace moving forward.

Brady is selling magical pajamas and has a shady fitness guru guy, so of course he's going to talk about the conditioning side with Peter King. He certainly takes care of himself but so do most of these other guys. I agree the rules are reducing the number of big hits QBs take every year, but luck deserves a lot of credit for anyone playing football into their 40s.

Oh for sure it's extending his career and I'm not taking anything away from Brady. I'm just saying Brees, Peyton and most of his peers also work their asses off and have great nutrition programs. It takes that and more than a little luck to be playing football for that long.
