Today's Schedule of Games
November "playoff" football in the Big Ten is here. Win and advance.
At noon: Michigan - Penn State (ABC). Even with injuries, Michigan matches up pretty well with Penn State. Especially if Clifford is not 100%. And especially, especially if Clifford is not 100%, but thinks he is. This will be a game Harbaugh was born for: run the ball, play-action pass, play disciplined defense, limit turnovers. Learn from the mistakes of others (Hi Maryland) and keep Dotson contained, contained, contained. Clifford will try to run, healthy or not, so don't leave open lanes for him on third downs. On the road at Penn State is a hard place to play, and our recent history there has not been good. Things can and do go south in a hurry. So I am nervous about this game. But still, my gut says this will be a sound methodical win for Michigan.
Also at noon: Oklahoma - Baylor (FOX). Oklahoma had been living on the edge for a while, until the switch to Caleb Williams at QB. Now they look like a complete team. But Baylor will be a challenge in Waco. They got caught looking ahead to this game against TCU, but they will be fully engaged for this one. In the end however, Oklahoma will have too much fire power for Baylor to keep pace.
In the afternoon at 3:30: Purdue - Ohio State (ABC). Can Purdue do it again? They have beaten #2 Iowa on the road and #3 Michigan State at home so far. Now #4 Ohio State looms. David Bell can have a field day against the Ohio State secondary and put a scare into the Buckeyes. I doubt it will be enough, but you still have to watch just in case.
Also at 3:30: Minnesota - Iowa (BTN). Two teams you had written off weeks ago are actually stil alive for the Big Ten West title. So this is a (really bad) playoff game of sorts. But even bad meaningful November football is good football. Minnesota will beat Iowa by scoring actual points, something Iowa has not yet considered.
Also at 3:30: Georgia - Tennessee (CBS). Tennessee is starting to show a pulse. That's nice, but it will take a full on aneurysm to beat Georgia. Still, Tennessee will give Georgia some fits early on before Georgia pulls away in the second half.
Also at 3:30: Miami - Florida State (ESPN). Oh how the mighty have fallen. This used to be the game of the year in its prime in the '80s and '90s. Now, not so much. I blame it on tearing down the Orange Bowl. But I'll take a peek at it for a bit anyway, just for nostalgia sake.
Also in the afternoon at 4:00: Maryland - Michigan State (FOX). I don't like watching Sparty any more than I have to. But thanks to overturned video review shenanigans, here we are. Maryland can test Sparty's porous secondary, so it could get interesting. But they can't do it enough, so I will ultimately be wasting my time. Oh well, consider it a Maryland scouting exercise.
In the evening at 7:00: Texas A&M - Ole Miss (ESPN). I don't really care about this game all that much. I just like the idea that by the time it starts, people will have been tailgating at the Grove the entire day. Bucket list. Ole Miss will win the tailgate, but Texas A&M will win the game. Kiffin will say something stupid.
Also in the evening at 7:30: Notre Dame - Virginia (ABC). Virginia will typically plod through a season in unspectacular fashion, but every once in a while they will rise up and bite someone in the ass. This could be one of those games. I think this will be a fourth quarter game, but Notre Dame pulls it out in the end.
Also in the evening at 7:30: NC State - Wake Forest (ACCN - no I don't know how you get it either). If for some strange reason you can actually get this, it should be a pretty good game to stay at the top of the ACC Atlantic division (no I don't know who is in it either). I'm going with NC State. I may have to read a newspaper on Sunday morning to find out who won.
Late evening at 10:30: Your Pac 12 After Dark Special - crazy meaningless football just for the fun of it - Washington State - Oregon (ESPN). If this was at Pullman it could actually be a meaningful game. Weird juju stuff happens at Pullman in the Pac 12. But at Eugene, the Ducks will get along just swimmingly.

I was at the Iowa - Northwestern game (Parents weekend, son goes to NW). Yeesh, talk about a rock fight: 17 -12.
We left early to watch the end of Michigan - Indiana which was exciting in comparison.

I’ll be at the Oregon-Wazzu game tonight! Making the drive down from PDX. My father-in-law is a huge duck fan, so I’m going with him.
As of now, looks like temps in the 50s with no rain, which is a minor miracle for this time of year in the PNW.
Go Blue!

" Virginia will typically plod through a season in unspectacular fashion, but every once in a while they will rise up and bite someone in the ass."
Virginia is not very plodding. They pass for 400 yards a game and average 540+ total ypg. Their QB leads all of CFB in total offense. Unfortunately, Armstrong got hurt in a 66-49 loss at BYU and his playing today is in doubt.
Hopefully he can play and test ND, if so it might be decent game to watch

Pretty good slate of games today, including the MBB game tonight. Also interested in Maryland-MSU and Purdue-OSU. Very excited about Saturday football.

In 1997, Judgement Day was huge.
To be honest, I thought Michigan St. weekend was more like Judgement Day because you had OSU/PSU. It felt like a huge weekend and I'd been comparing this season to 1997 (for example, losing a co-captain in the opening game).
But technically in 1997, Judgement Day was November 8, 1997. Aligning with this weekend, the second Saturday of November.
And technically in 1997, we were in the road in Happy Valley.
Then this happened: https://youtu.be/3YFOcfwWgqc
Let's get after it, Go Blue!!!

It was also a breakout game for a freshman running back ?.

I was at that game. That game and Lloyd's last game in the Cap One Bowl were the only times I was in awe of my own team.

Wow, this is a lot. Maybe not UFR level but still a bunch. Thanks.

How about Florida?! Is the the end for Dan Mullen?

I know he fired his defensive coordinator. Did he forget to replace him afterward?

Taking New Mexico St +66.5 -- Saban doesn't like to run it up in these situations

Michigan game on 1 screen and the F1 race at 2:25 on a second screen. Wanna see if Lewis gets stuck in the midfield lol.

Floyd of Rosedale is up for grabs. Not a fan of PJ Fleck so I will probably root for Iowa.
