Today's Schedule of Games
This isn't just a bye week for Michigan, it's also a bye week for quality matchups. Not much to plan on ahead of time. This is a week to do chores, er, a week to keep an eye on the scoreboard and see which matches wind up actually being compelling as they are already underway.
So today is a day for some creative watching:
At noon I will be doing the same thing as the entire Michigan coaching staff and all of the Michigan players: Watching Michigan State - Indiana to see how good MSU really is / really is not. Indiana is not a useful surrogate for Michigan as a comparable opponent, but it's all we've got.
Also at noon, a random stew of curious ingredients: Oklahoma State - Texas could be interesting. If nothing but to see what Mr. Worthy does. *sigh*. I'll check in on UCF - Cincinnati to see how the Bearcats handle success. I will also keep a side eye on Florida - LSU. I sense a surprise there. Meanwhile, Texas A&M - Missouri is the trappiest of trap games. But sometimes a team is just better (A&M) even at a half-assed pace. Also Nebraska - Minnesota. Nebraska will beat Minnesota even though they will still trip over themselves in the process.
At 3:30, the "headline" game: Kentucky - Georgia. But I'm not sure if the headline-level interest of this game even lasts until halftime. Georgia slowly and methodically strangles Kentucky.
At night at 7:30: TCU - Oklahoma could be a surprise. Oklahoma has still not come down to earth. And they will have to deal with the off-the-bench-QB thing where a QB comes off the bench with no notice, wins a big game, and looks like a star . . . and then gets a week to think about it when he realizes he is the starter now. A lot of those don't end up well.
Also at night at 7:30: I think I'll check in on the first 5 minutes of 'Ole Miss - Tennessee to see how pleasantly the Vol's welcome back their 'Ole buddy Lane Kiffin.
Also at night at 8:00: I will NOT watch Army - Wisconsin. If for some bizarre reason I feel the need to check in on it, I will listen to it with my Grandpa's 1952 vacuum tube RCA radio, the way God intended.
Late night at 10:00: Your Pac 12 After Dark Special - meaningless, crazy football just for the fun of it - Arizona State - Utah. This is the kind of game where Utah gets them in 3 OTs.

IU has a drive stall at the 5 and has to settle for a field goal and then can't take full advantage of a short field. That is how you lose these games.
October 16th, 2021 at 12:55 PM ^
NEB tackles really bad. MN RB is slippery
October 16th, 2021 at 12:58 PM ^
Someone who understands football better than I, is MSUs offense that bad or is IUs defense playing lights out today?
October 16th, 2021 at 12:58 PM ^
MSU offense looks like ass
October 16th, 2021 at 1:01 PM ^
Many here keep saying how good their offense is. They have some big plays but most other plays were average or below average. Their RB does well against bad teams. I am sure they will bring it for M but their offense is just so so
October 16th, 2021 at 1:03 PM ^
So this is where I get lost regarding MSUs offense....are they actually explosive, or have they benefitted from busted coverages/bad defense? I don't know football well enough to tell.
October 16th, 2021 at 1:06 PM ^
Their WRs are really good. They can easily turn a bad drive into a good drive just because their WRs are that good. That is just my opinion. Still a dangerous team but their offense as a whole is not that good
October 16th, 2021 at 12:59 PM ^
Sparty’s offense looking like dog turd. Sadly, Indiana won’t do anything about it.
October 16th, 2021 at 2:13 PM ^
I bet Sparty pulls this out with some improbable, ridiculous play late in the fourth quarter after IU blows another chance at a TD.
Aaand Sparty already has the lead.
The annoying thing is that you know Sparty will play like a completely different team in two weeks.
October 16th, 2021 at 1:05 PM ^
First time watching Sparty this year and… they don’t look so good.
October 16th, 2021 at 1:05 PM ^
Fryfogle is another one of those guys who has been in college forever. I think he played on the Bill Lynch team when he threw his gum.
October 16th, 2021 at 1:06 PM ^
I'm surprised that wasn't PI on MSU, but they also let them mug a receiver earlier so maybe not that surprising.
October 16th, 2021 at 1:09 PM ^
That is just an excellent play by CB when MSU plays. That is the way it goes.
October 16th, 2021 at 1:07 PM ^
So… is Nebraska just really bad on the road? Or is MSU bad? Are we bad? Is IU better without Penix? So much confusion.
October 16th, 2021 at 1:14 PM ^
Nebraska threw the kitchen sink at us and still lost. They probably weren't in a good emotional place this week. I expect them to lose to the Gophers (in a one-score game, of course).
October 16th, 2021 at 1:07 PM ^
Get a TD IU
October 16th, 2021 at 1:08 PM ^
Indiana OL moving MSU DL. Good news for October 30th.
October 16th, 2021 at 1:08 PM ^
will Indiana piss away yet another great opportunity?
October 16th, 2021 at 1:10 PM ^
Yes, yes they will. MSU is going to weasel their way out again.
October 16th, 2021 at 1:09 PM ^
"Also at night at 8:00: I will NOT watch Army - Wisconsin. If for some bizarre reason I feel the need to check in on it, I will listen to it with my Grandpa's 1952 vacuum tube RCA radio, the way God intended."
That game has the potential to be very......gross and uncomfortable.
October 16th, 2021 at 1:10 PM ^
Come on Indy, you knew they would blitz. Jeez they’re blowing this. They should be up 17-7
October 16th, 2021 at 1:10 PM ^
FFS Indiana. should be at least 17-7
October 16th, 2021 at 1:11 PM ^
Indiana doing what they do . . . showing the rest of the Big Ten how to beat teams.
They should really be up by 2 TDs.
October 16th, 2021 at 1:11 PM ^
IU is going to play well the whole game and still lose. A pick and 3 FGs and two in RZ. Recipe for a loss.
October 16th, 2021 at 1:14 PM ^
Indiana’s offense hasn’t scored a single touchdown against a B1G team this season? Woof.
October 16th, 2021 at 1:15 PM ^
MN is carving out NEB secondary
October 16th, 2021 at 1:17 PM ^
The disappointing thing about that is last week M had many open deep opportunities that were missed by Cade
October 16th, 2021 at 1:47 PM ^
The less disappointing thing is that we still won. You don't get a bigger trophy for winning by more points.
October 16th, 2021 at 1:18 PM ^
That’s what happens when you actually hit your passes.
October 16th, 2021 at 1:16 PM ^
Sparty going backward
October 16th, 2021 at 1:17 PM ^
Come on IU get a pick 6
October 16th, 2021 at 1:17 PM ^
Probably like most of you, I'm watching Indiana vs. MSU. 7-0 MSU vs 7-0 UM in two weeks would be insane. I'd love to see it. But I can't help myself, I'd even more prefer to see MSU lose to a bad Indiana team.
You too?
October 16th, 2021 at 1:19 PM ^
I will never understand the people who root for OSU and MSU to do well. I'd much rather have them suck. I want Michigan-MSU to be a series we win the vast majority of the time.
If some other Big Ten team is good, that's fine, but not our rivals.
October 16th, 2021 at 1:23 PM ^
Yes!
Ours is a big, bad, zero-sum world. The hype associated with a putative “even more marquee” win for Michigan (if our rivals are undefeated prior to those games) is *not* worth more than the benefit of a rival taking a bad loss beforehand.
October 16th, 2021 at 1:19 PM ^
I would love for MSU to lose every game. I think they might end up winning this one. I don't care about SoS and want to beat MSU on the high crap. Will take every loss they can get.
October 16th, 2021 at 1:20 PM ^
I will not cheer for MSU simply to preserve an undefeated matchup. Any loss for MSU is a good thing. Also, is a win over a 7-0 MSU any sweeter than a win over a 6-1 MSU team? In my opinion, it is not. Go Hoosiers!
October 16th, 2021 at 1:21 PM ^
Fuck MSU. Have it be like 1997 where they crapped the bed the week before playing us which kept it from being a battle of the undefeated’s.
October 16th, 2021 at 1:17 PM ^
MSU OL struggling against the IU DEs and LBs. Bodes well for us in 2 weeks
October 16th, 2021 at 1:17 PM ^
Sparty lucky to not be down 3 scores
October 16th, 2021 at 1:18 PM ^
MSU offense looking like Iowa out there. Domination by IU defense
October 16th, 2021 at 1:19 PM ^
Kenneth Walker for September Heisman?
October 16th, 2021 at 1:19 PM ^
Good news for Sparty: Their punter is a weapon.
Bad news for Sparty: It matters.
October 16th, 2021 at 1:19 PM ^
That punt went 15 yards further than Sparty has on offense so far today.
October 16th, 2021 at 1:21 PM ^
Incredible catch by Minnys WR on that TD. Nebraska is getting steamrolled… by Minnesota…
October 16th, 2021 at 1:21 PM ^
NEB Cheaters 9- Row the Boat 20. LOL.
October 16th, 2021 at 1:23 PM ^
I missed it - where is Penix? I can’t find Penix.
October 16th, 2021 at 1:23 PM ^
He’s out. Couldn’t get up for today.
October 16th, 2021 at 1:23 PM ^
Go IU. They need a long TD rather than EZ plays.
October 16th, 2021 at 1:23 PM ^
The pull for the IU QB is there every time. But he won't keep it.
Cyan that guy.
