Big win IMO. Love the return to the block #s and similar look to the 90s uniforms. And it will always be a debate, but I always liked the black jersey even though they were never good while they wore it last.

While these are less (and even not) visible, I like what they are doing here:

  • A patch will be sewn inside official game jerseys, which include Ford's signature. "Mr. Ford was always really well-dressed, sharply dressed," Facchini said. "This was inspired by a custom suit label. … It's just a classy way to remember him. And having it live inside the jersey gives it a different feel."

  • Another inside-only jersey embellishment will be wording sewn into the collar of the three jerseys. The home blue will include the team's "One Pride" slogan, while the road whites will have "313," Detroit's area code. The black alternates will be stitched with Detroit's "Motor City" nickname.

As long as that WCF isn't prominently on the jersey, I'm good. I truly believe that he loved the Lions, but him and Gores are the worst owner in Detroit sports history, with the nod going to the venture capitalist.

I find it ironic though that most people love how WCF's daughter is running the franchise and many people can't stand how Mike Ilitch's son is running the Tigers and Red Wings. Odd how things flipped between the generations.

I'm not sure the Lions needed a jersey redesign. Still, the new home unis are awesome, they knocked it out of the park on that one. The away jerseys are just ok, like others have said they need to ditch the "Detroit" on the front. Also prefer the road combo to be white tops / silver pants. The black jersey, well let's just say I'll need time to warm up to that one.

I love them going back to the 80s/90s look. We're not afraid of embracing the past now. Love it, especially the black uniforms.

Side note: The NFL is the king of marketing. They keep their league relevant all year long. The season only ended two months ago, and they're still grabbing headlines. Free agency, uniform reveals and now the draft. And once all the teams have their new toys to play with, we'll have the schedule release in early May and betting futures galore. They'll let the NBA and NHL have some time to market their finals in June, and then it's off to training camp and pre-season football.

The blue and silver looks great. The black looks kind of interesting, if a little ugly (black and light blue not the greatest combo). The white is boring. Black should be the primary alternate, resorting to white only when on the road and the home team is dark blue (e.g., Seahawks, Titans).
