He did?

I definitely believe he did. For a couple reasons.

Very good news.

since "Durkin hired a minor staff member". Makes sense that would hire Partridge in his place (on the payroll; not position coach).
January 7th, 2016 at 8:31 PM ^
Partridge was already on staff, just not as a coach. This would be for an open coaching position (e.g. the spot Baxter just vacated).
January 7th, 2016 at 9:56 PM ^
The minor staff memeber was not a coach, so it had no effect on Partridge.
January 7th, 2016 at 10:05 PM ^
was to make Partridge an analyst in addition to his recruiting duties. There's no limit on how many analysts we can hire, but Partridge could possibly fill that opening.

Jay Harbaugh is already listed as the assistant ST coach in addition to TE coach. It is possible Jay takes over ST and Partridge is strictly LB coach. Or they both split it. I would prefer an experienced ST coach, but I have faith Harbaugh knows what he is doing or has a plan.

John was the ST coach with the Ravens before he was promoted to HC. He must know something about the position.

previous to 2015 did the punter give up a game losing fumble? ST have been servicable for several years now, 2015 isn't a particular stand out from years 2011-2015 except for the punty spready thing. And, well, that didn't require a dedicated ST coach to implement.

Maybe he apprenticed and learned Baxter's system and can maintain it. If there were a 26 year old coach who could do it, wouldn't it be spawn of Harbaugh?

Jay was Baxter's assistant. Jay will become the ST coordinator unless Zordich leaves (I dont think Jackoson will bolt), and Partridge will be either THE LB coach, or ILB or OLB coach (since Brown can coach LBs or secondary).

BlueVod just mentioned "Bush" on twitter. Something the line of "Partridge in a pear Bush".

Why? He was a LB when he played and coached LBs while the head man at PC. Might as well, and he gives a certain energy that Durkin did.

He isn't going to be ST coordinator. And Partridge is too important as a recruiter to not let be the LB coach, which according to Harbaugh he's good at. So I will not question Jim.
January 8th, 2016 at 8:40 AM ^
How do you know he won't be the ST coordinator? He was an assistant special teams coach at Lafayette and The Citadel, and Harbaugh made "ST coordinator" a job for Baxter.
Also, I don't see why being a special teams coordinator would prevent him from helping with recruiting.

Not that you are obligated to answer my questions, but...that doesn't answer my question.
January 7th, 2016 at 10:33 PM ^
Look at our roster for the coming season. There's no group more in need of high level coaching than our LBs. Don Brown is going to coach LBs, isn't he? I feel good about that.
It's hard to say where Partidge fits on the staff. I think ST makes the most sense based on the makeup of the rest of the staff. He'll have a lot of work to do to get up to speed, but that would be true wherever we put him.

Baxter's leaving does not create a need for another defensive coach.
January 7th, 2016 at 8:45 PM ^
Partridge to LB Coach
Jay Harbaugh to ST coordinator/TE Coach
Unless Zordich bolts Jay is going to be promoted from assistant ST coordinator to the main job.
