Submitted by meechiganroses on

Per Tim Sullivan's twitter. Though he thinks UM is in good shape.  Interesting to say the least...

@TimEmmitt They're mostly just gut feelings. I think M is in good position.

Hmmmmmm.....I'd buy what Josh was selling if he hadn't basicly crapped all over Wormley despite the fact that his stats were on the same levels as Washington and company.

The reality is that nobody really knows anything at this point, including Josh.  He is an 18 year old kid who will change his mind dozens of times between now and Thursday.  Anybody with "gut" feelings or who assigns a percentage to our chances of getting him is just making stuff up.  Go back to work.

2007 was the last time Michigan was ranked ahead of Stanford in football.  While I love Michigan, Stanford's academic reputation is superior.  Palo Alto's weather is better than Ann Arbor's.  All that makes me very pessimistice, but then I'm a half empty kind of person.  Of course, our coaches may be better and come off as nicer guys and Michigan's not on an active earthquake fault.

important to Josh, recruits generally consider the overall package. If academics were it, Josh would probably go play as a walk on at Harvard =) Also, when it comes to academics, yes Stanford is ranked higher but U of M is not far behind (Superior seems to insinuate that Michigan is chopped liver compared to Standford). It is not like you are comparing Stanford to Central Alabama Junior Community College for the Academically Challenged. Stanford's med school is ranked 5th and Michigan 10th, and in most of the different world rankings (The Times, etc.) Michigan is right there in the top 25, not too far behind Stanford. The weather, well, that is a different matter, but who the heck wants 12 months of perfect without any snow =)

I could imagine lots of people enjoying the 12 months of perfect weath... wait a sec. Is this one of those sarcastic posts? One without a /s to make it painfully obvious you are being sarcastic. Well my friend, damn you, damn you to hell*!!

*hell- A city located in Central Ohio named after a guy who kinda discovered America.

but Palo Alto is an awesome place and last time I checked, Stanford was ranked 5 by US News and Michigan 28.  Are these rankings somewhat arbitrary, yes, but those are the numbers.  Stanford can't compare as a historical football power, but girls in shorts almost all year round.

The reason why they've been so highly ranked, and ranked higher than Michigan ... he's coaching in the same area still, but doing so for the 49ers!  A recruit is going to where something is, and for the next four years, not where it's been the past four years.  That's why I think Garnett goes BLUE.

There must be a reason why the analysts think it'll be stanford over us, but all the signs seem to point to it being us.  *shrug* we'll have to wait and see

I just saw that as well and was puzzled by the prediction of Diamond to UM. Seems like Garnett is more likely to end up a Wolverine than Diamond at this point.

Edit: Did you see how many guys they have predicted committing to Rutgers? RUTGERS?!? Oh, and Monty Madaris to MSU...ugh. They have already got Burbridge and UT transfer Deanthony Arnett. Three highly ranked WR's in one class for Sparty. Double ugh.

Stanford -- ALL THE TIME, it's all he does!!  Oh, wait ... no, he doesn't.  Heck, if you followed him and didn't know better, you would assume two things - 1.) he's a Michigan lock, and 2.) stanford isn't in his top 2.  Magnuson has this, it's a done deal.

Dicky McGilacutty just predicted Garnett to UM. He has a magic 8 ball that has been 100% right 60% of the time. Expect to see him writing for ESPN insider in the near future.
