Prediction for rest of season

Submitted by Magga Saraivah on

So, I think we need a distraction from all the Fire Everyone posts.  Here is my gut feel on how  the rest of the season will play out.  You may not like the End. I don't either. Feel free to disagree:

11-1-14:
We beat Indiana 31-28. Devin looks good against the offensive Indiana defense.  Our record edges up to 4-5.  The best highlights shown by ESPN are the students all wearing #fireBrandon t-shirts.  Hoke says he feels happy for the kids.  They worked hard for this win.

11-8-14
Tough road trip to Evanston.  The Wildcats are motivated when they rememeber last year's last minute win on a FG.  We all know how well Hoke prepares for a road game. The Wildcats win 28-21.  Our record drops to 4-6.  Hoke says the kids will go back to work this week and focus on winning the rest of their games.

11-22-14:
Maryland comes to town.  They are pumped to play in the Big House.  Unfortuantely, the Big House is only 80% full. The announced attendance is 104,887.  The team plays hard but the season has worn on them.  Maryland looks like a completely different team then the one Wisconsin curb stomped.  Terps win 27-24 when Michigan misses 2 field goals.  Record drops to 4-7. Hoke says we are all dissapointed.  He needs to coach better, but kids will now focus on our biggest rival.

11-29-14:                                                                                                                           Team travels to Columbus.  Buckeye fans dig up their old "We Love Rich Rod" posters and white out Rich Rod's name and replace it with Hoke's. Before the game, Team plants a pitchfork on the big O as a show of unity.  Urban Meyer ends up planting a pitchfork in Hoke's ass.  Buckeyes win 42-21.  Two of the scores are on picked off JT Barrett passes. Hoke apologizes for the interceptions during his post game press conference.  Season ends at 4-8.  When asked about his job status, Hoke replies "well..stuff like that you cant worry about.  Its about the kids and the ability to execute with physicallity".

12-1-14:
Atletic Department releaes a statement that Dave Brandon has announced his resignation.:When the press contacts Brady Hoke he says "well..I'm not fully aware of any resignations, but I am partially aware".  MgoBlog "bad gateway errors" make it impossible to post new AD search rumors.

12-8-14:
Michigan announces the hiring of Uconn AD Warde Manuel as Brandon's replacement.   Says "he has not yet made a decision on Hoke's status and needs further time for evaluation".  This is the kiss of death.

Early January 2015:
Brady Hoke announces his "resignation". He restates his love for Michigan and says that the decision was all his and he feels he was too much of a distraction to the Kids. Coincidentally, this coincides with the buy out reduction of $1 million in Hoke's contract. Warde Manuel says the buy out did not come into paly and that the decision was all Hoke's.

Warde Manuel announces the promotion of Doug Nussmeier as interim Head Coach and says he will be given a full shot at the position.  The coaching search commences.  Flight Tracker goes wild....

2-2-15:
The day after the SuperBowl.  Miami Dolphins fire their Head Coach.  A  few days later a blockbuster trade is announced with the 49'ers that sends Jim Harbaugh to the Dolphins. Dolphins also announce that Dave Brandon has been hired as VP-Marketing.  Brandon & Harbaugh get to work work together after all.  Commence Mgoblog suicide alert..

2-6-15:
AD Warde Manuel announces that Doug Nussmeier has been signed to a 4 year contract for $4 million per year.  He states that he is a great young mind with the passion to lead the Wolverines to success.

TO BE CONTINUED......

We will not win another game. We will be forced to watch Devin turn the ball over repeatedly as we drop all the rest of our games. We cannot score with IU. Their running back is better than anyone on our offense by far. NW is on super revenge mode, Maryland will be happy to kick us while we're down and OSU will take us to the woodshed. The faster we get another staff in place the quicker they can save our recruiting year and start teaching new schemes. Our staff is dead in the water.

We scrape by Indiana, but Tevin Coleman has a good day anyway. We win because we at least have a somewhat serviceable defense, and because Indiana is down to their 89th string QB, we load the box and dare IU to beat us through the air. Also, IU's defense can't stop a nosebleed, so we'll be able to get something resembling points.

Northwestern beats us because its a road game, and after the way we've beat them the last 2 years, they're foaming at the mouth to get a chance to give us some payback.

Call me crazy, but it think we beat Maryland, because its senior day, Maryland is meh, and Gardner wants to end his last game at home on a high note.

OSU absolutely cobblers us 50-21. Meyer channels his inner Woody and goes for 2 at the end just to rub salt in an open wound.

End up in the Pizza Bowl, the Lions Bowl, or whatever it's called these days. We get a very sloppy win against a MAC team that should by all rights beat us, yet we somehow hang on for a disgusting 21-19 victory.

Hoke is canned after the OSU game, Nuss coaches the team for the bowl game, and after that, who knows.....

I am probably a bit optomistic to say 5-7, but I think they will scrap together 2 wins in the next 3 games, and then Hoke and Brandon are both broomed after seasons end.  I have no prediction about who coaches.  Best guess is it won't be one of the Harbaughs or Miles, it'll be some successful coach from a lessor college program.

To generous with the offensive points, I can't see Michigan scoring 3+ touchdowns on anyone left on the schedule. The offense has no energy, and that's not going to improve as this season wears on. Mentally, physically, and emotionally this team is drained.

I think we lose out. I think Brandon resigns and Brady gets fired. I want to see us hire Harbaugh, but I think we hire someone who nobody has ever heard of and we do this again in a few years....but with less recruiting success during the next coaches reign and then eventually, I think Jim Harbaugh coaches at Michigan. If we dont hire Harbaugh, I dont think we are a desirable program for any other coach and I just dont see anyone who can save us from ourselves.

Well it's gonna be a pretty bad rest of the season for me, I can see that now.

Today I got picked on by several five year old children as I walked down the street wearing my Michigan hat.

"Like, how's Michigan playing, Mr. Big Loser?" one shouted. I tried to ignore it. But it started again. "I said, how's Michigan playing Mr. Big Fat Loser?" the child continued. I wanted to run away in the face of this torment, but something made me just stand there.

"OK, well like green is a stupid color!" I retorted. "And you're all ugly."

That's when they jumped me, and began to beat me with their tiny fists. As upset as I was I finally pulled myself together and dialed 911 on my cell. When the police arrived, I said, "These ruffians insulted and assaulted me."

The police looked baffled.

"These are five year olds," he said. "And they beat you up?"

"Yes," I said. "Despite all of my training with Michigan's Strength And Conditioning coaches, these bullies beat the crap out of me."

"Maybe you shouldn't have tried to put that stake in their playground," the policeman said. "And if I were you, I'd stop wearing that Michigan hat around small children."

And they call this justice.

Depends on whether or not Hoke decides to go with Morris from this point on.

With Gardner 2-2 (like it or not...still our best chance to win)

With Morris 1-3.

Indiana - W regardless who is QB

NW - Loss (although wouldn't shock me if they pulled this one out)

Maryland - W with Gardner...L with Morris

Ohio St - L

Let me say how pathetic it is that I have more faith in a Browns victory every week as compared to a Michigan victory. This season has been lost since the Rutgers game and it is pretty obvious that the players don't give a shit anymore. That being said, I think we possibly get one more win. That's it, just one more. The shitstorm continues and Brandon and Hoke are gone before December. Who Michigan hires next is critical, but I also have no faith that it will be a homerun hire. Until Michigan makes the football program THE focus, we are going to deal with bullcrap Michigan Man talk, Bo comparisons, and mediocre to crappy football. Oh, and getting our asses kicked by Michigan State and Ohio State. I truly hope that the Hoke/Brandon era was a lesson to all involved and that we get the right people in to change the culture and start winning football games again. Michigan football used to be so fun-I'd love to see it go back to that.

Before looking at the ratings above I figured we could beat one of IU or Maryland (more likely IU). That's pretty much what the stats say.

Sadly I really want to come up for the Maryland game because I have always liked and respected that school. I wanted to see them in the House.

I think I will still go. Don't tell Biff.

It's just insane that we have to win 3 of our last 4 to even become Bowl eligible.  In my worst nightmare I never would have dreamed of thi before the season.

Most of us thought the absolutle floor was 8-4, 7-5 seemed unimaginable, now 7-5 seems unimaginable for a different reason.

We go 2-2 and finish 5-7 missing a bowl game.  I don't think we collapse like we did last season after the MSU game, we were beaten soundly Saturday, but it was not the physical beating that we took yesterday that I think destroyed the confidence of  our offense for good.  They did push our front 7 around more than I thought was possible but that group has been solid all year and will be fine IMO.

Somehow going 3-1 and making a Bowl game is extremely improrant IMO.  Not just for the extra practices, but for the extra contact time for the current players.  The transfer rumors will start flying as soon as the season ends, keeping the team together to practice as a team, no matter who is coach, will do a lot to mitigate potential transfers.  We miss a bowl and we will lose several players to transfer IMO, make a bowl and it might just be the usual 1 or 2.

Right up to the part where Warde Manuel hires Nussmeier. I will personally light a bag of flaming poo at the door of the Athletic Department if that ever happens.

If Brandon is not fired prior, and we go 6-6 (beating Indiana, Maryland and NU but losing to OSU), I suspect Hoke will be let go and Nuss named the interim coach, with the expectation that if he wins the bowl game, he might be named HC. I suspect Brandon wanted to groom Nuss as a successor to Hoke anyway, though the poor performance of our offense this year has largely scuttled those plans. If Nuss were to win the bowl game, he might get a chance to be HC, a la Stewart at WVU.

On the other hand, I'm just not seeing us getting 6 wins. Rather, I'm guessing we go 5-7, beating Indiana and Maryland while losing to NU and OSU. That means no bowl game, in which case neither Hoke nor Brandon can survive. Brad Bates is the new AD, and a search focuses on all the usual suspects.

The issue with Jim Harbaugh, in that scenario, is that UM may need to lock down a coach before the NFL playoffs have begun (let alone ended). Unless Harbaugh wants to pull a Petrino, we'd have to wait, and it's possible no one wants to do that. I really hope we manage to land him this time, but strangely, I'm thinking we may end up with Les Miles instead.

Just a thought, probably thought before below, but why not fire Hoke now and name Nuss interim coach?  What is there to lose?  Nuss gets a short tryout and the spotlight on the program dulls a bit.  If he goes 4-0, he's considered as a candidate.  If he goes 0-4, was he really ours to begin with?

Are you out of your mind?  Why would he?  If he resigned he wouldn't have to be paid for his 5th year, same as Brandon.

These two don't  leave until they are fired.

anyone with info. on these individuals' contracts?

Why would either one of them do anything contrary to their own self-interest regarding buy-outs?
