Pickin' and Grinnin' NFL Games + Open Thread

Submitted by xtramelanin on

Mates,

Beautiful sunny Sunday afternoon to you all.   Rocking out with the family and thinking of the NFL playoff games later today.  I think they set up to be the best games of the weekend. Both home teams are favored.

@ Dallas      5        Green Bay   4:40 pm   Fox

@KC             1         Pittsburgh    8:20 pm   NBC

I pick up on a lot of distaste for Aaron Rogers, curious why.  I am a Lions fan, but maybe it's the yooper in me but I have always liked the Pack if the Lions weren't in the playoffs - a sick 50+ yr legacy of failure.   And man, that KC v. Pitt game could be a dandy.

So the question is this:  Who do you pick, with or without the points, and why?

Enjoy the day,

XM

Heavy, heavy money going down on the over (53.5) Dallas/GB and the under (45) KC/Pitt so I went counter and parlayed the opposite play. I've got under 53.5 and over 45. We'll see.....

Yesterday's games were quite good. Looking forward to today's games.

I'll take GB and Pit to win outright. Which is why I never bet. GB is in a zone and never count out BigBen and Antonio Brown, especially when the running game is working. Stop Tyreek Hill and Pit wins by 7

Intriguing matchups today.  IF the Pack can hold Zeke Elliott from big plays...then they have a chance because Rodgers will make some for sure.

Im taking Pitt to edge out KC.  KC gives up a lot of rushing yards and Pitt rolls on the ground.

I'm riding with the Packers and Steelers (ugh). Cowboys D kind of sucks which won't be great for them. KC has a few really nice players but I look at their schedule and they really don't impress me. Can't stand Ben and Steelers fans shouldn't have nice things, but they're gonna win this one.

Can't stand Aaron Rodgers. He comes across as a cocky bitch with that stupid smirk always on his face. Tom Brady wins more than him and you don't see anything but competitive fire out of him. He doesn't run down the field, turn sideways and do some ridiculous championship belt move when he throws a TD pass.

As for liking the Packers when the Lions aren't in the playoffs, well, you sort of get a small pass on this I guess because being a Yooper probably puts you closer to Green Bay anyway. But still, come on man. It's like trying to be both a Wolverine and a Spartan at the same time.

I don't like Green Bay or Dallas so I will rooot for Matt Ryan and Atlanta on that side of things. Fuck the Packers and especially Rodgers.

some of my favorite people, never jerks about the pathetic lions, no sparty stuff going on.   went to a couple of games at lambeau including the '97 NFC championship game v. carolina and the packer fans were great, great hosts to the carolina fans (walking arm in arm, drinking, singing, etc.) and just an all around pleasant experience.   i guess that's why i don't compare sparty to the pack, even though they both wear green...

Well, as a Lions fan, I could do with Dallas and Green Bay going down to asteroid, but since this is not a realistic possibility, I will go with Dallas in that game. As for Kansas City and Pittsburgh, I think the Steelers can pull that one out on the road, although I expect that one to be very close.

But a beautiful day nonetheless!

Today I take GB, because Jake>Zeke

Also take Steelers, because I just can't see KC with the win.

Have a great evening up north and thanks for posting!

My favorite bet is GB-Dallas over 53.  I also like the under 44 on Pitt-KC.  Not sure who is going to win either game but I've got less money on GB +5 and KC -1.5.

Predicted scores:

Dallas 35, GB 31

KC 24, Pitt 19 -edit- although this one could easily be flipped the other way Pitt 24, KC 19 (or less) and I wouldn't be the least bit surprised.

see Green Bay in the Super Bowl but not because I like them at all. I just want the biggest audience watching Brady and the Pats humiliate them. I feel the same way about Dallas.
