OT: Obligatory Friday "What are you doing?" Posbang Thread

Submitted by profitgoblue on

Its that time again!  Time to find out what everyone is up to this fine Friday morning/afternoon.  What are you up to?  Any good plans for the weekend?

Me, I'm sitting at my desk as usual.  Trying to stay awake.  I've been up since 12:30am taking care of child-rearing obligations and I'm exhausted.  Staring at a computer screen does not help keep the eyes open either.

Still trying to sell my car and get a new one.  Selling a car as a private seller is a lot of damn work.  Not to mention the fact that I've gotten 2 scam emails thus far.  They are hilarious.  The respondent is claiming to be at sea without access to cell phone but access to email.  They say they'll pay asking price and ask for my PayPal account because that's the only way they can pay.  Idiots.  I responded to one saying "Nice try.  Go scam someone else.  Oh, and I just reported you to the authorities."  F-ers.

P.S.  I'm going to posbang my own thread again because its fun and it feels good.

P.P.S.  Chick-fil-A for lunch today!  Mmm mmm good.

I'm in Paris so I'm watching the French Open a bit before dinner. Being 6 hours ahead of the East Coast is super weird for my Internet and tv habits

I used to think being a dentist was the best way to go.  You have the hygenists that do all the work and then you just swoop in and poke around for 30 seconds, look at the x-ray and then you're done (other than the surgeries, of course).

But now I'm convinced that being an eye doctor is better.  I went in this morning because my eye was bothering me, feeling like it was scratched.  He looked around, put in a few drops, and diagnosed me with very dry eyes.  Several hundred dollars to learn I have dry eyes.  Nice!

I thought about it for a minute during 3rd yr of med school. Only problem was the incredible dexterity they need to do their procedures. I can suture with the best of them but suturing an iris? Or slicing an opening to insert a lens? Not with these big mitts!!

I had a lunch beer which was nice. Now I have a friend in from out of town and when I leave work, we will commence more serious drinking and citywide drunken activities.

Trying to put together a rational value proposition to finish up a product requirements document I've been working on for the last 2 weeks.  Ah, the joys of defining new products for a technology company.

But...just realized I am about to experience a severe beer shortage in the beer fridge, so need to go to Binny's and rectify that problem.  So many choices, but what to choose?

Maybe Binny's first, drink beer, then write value prop?

Trying to save my butt by turning in something today that I forgot 2 weeks ago and realizing that the higher up that will approve what I've turned in is leaving for London next week so everyone depending on what I forgot will have another week to scream at me.

Sweet. Happy Hour starts now I guess!

Today: Running through different regression models on some fascinating NSYR data and comparing differences in religious views and practices at different types of colleges.

Tonight: Laundry and grocery shopping, watching NBA Playoffs with housemates

Saturday: Stop by an open house for two new apartment buildings that some former colleagues (from a recent internship) have worked on

Sunday: Date night.

I searched the site, but couldn't find the post where it says when HTTV will be shipped.

Can anyone enlighten me?

Hitting up the Sylvania Maple and Main art fair. I'm moving to the area this month, and hopefully I will be signing a lease today (I've already had two landlords back out of their verbal agreements to me for one reason or another -- the challenge of moving to an area when you live 4 hours away). If anyone on this board knows a thing or two about cool things in Sylvania/Toledo, especially regarding outdoorsy and social stuff, I would much appreciate any tips.

I'm not going to lie, there isn't much to do out here (I live about 20 minutes west of Sylvania). However, Mudhens (Tiger's AAA team) and Walleye (hockey) games are fun and the casino just opened (have yet to check it out).

If I lost my ring AND got a titanum ring, my wife the nurse would be super mad (She's seen some gruesome stuff). I think I am going stainless steel ring. Cheap, can be cleaned with vinegar, and will cost so little that I can probably take the wife on a date. I mean, she's not super mad, but these things build up and I would like to clear the register, so to speak.

I am working on digesting pizza before I go work out and go home. Also hacking into my friends computer at work because our office is stalled out because Maymester+preparing to move across campus + summer malaise+bosses being gone +friday means that as a Grad Assistant, I have nothing to do.

I am currently working on some real estate purchase agreements, which is not too bad actually.

This weekend I'm visiting my newborn niece for the first time, and hopefully enjoying some good micro brews later on.

Moving cross-country 3 days from now. Also plotting ways to spend the unused portion of my summer housing stipend. Right now, I'm debating between new backpacking equipment, and just saying "screw it" and spending it on a summer's worth of beer. Three cheers for corporate America, pun intended.

This is the longest afternoon.  Ever.

Heading to One-Eyed Betty's in Ferndale after work for dinner and some delicious, delicious beer.

Then it's off to pick up the wife, go have a couple cocktails and then grill up a couple wicked ribeyes on the grill. (and like Tom Brady I'm also not from Bastan, but these steaks look incredible!)

Trying to finish up my junior year of high school. Hard part's over, now I just have to take a few exams next week, then it's summer! Which means strength and conditioning for football! Woo.

Am usually the one with laid back, coach-potato or diy plans but actually headed off this evening to the Santa Cruz Tannery Art Center opening, a little art, some wine, and will see what develops after that. (read: wife gets really worked up with a martini or two!) /s
