OT: New Texas lockers

Submitted by jimmyshi03 on

Aside from now getting checked for their championship hydration levels, Texas players prove once again how much money their program will toss down a hole for them.

At #Texas UT's new lockers are pretty hi-tech. Each has a 43-inch flat screen & locker doors glow. Cost: $10,500 per. pic.twitter.com/P4je7D4LQq

Seems strange ergonomically - to be watching tv facing backwards - where do you put your legs?

I do find it rich WD is complaining about this stuff when he giggles to himself over this many million spent on locker rooms at UM, and this much soon to be spent on weight rooms, and this much for that and this much for this.  If Harbaugh did it all we'd say is "genius" - same with lazy rivers or whatever.

As someone else said above - it's reaching the point of stupid but this is basically a pro league in the top 15 programs at this point.

1) How many players want to watch tv in the locker room? Better off having a back of 20 large tvs in a players lounge outside the locker room.

2) that locker tv should be on some mechanism that allows it to pivot lower and have some angle adustments.

They're over-priced and ugly as shit, but Michigan has a swankey lockerroom, also.  I don't begrudge UT having nice things, but UMs things are still better...

Honestly those look like crap. The lights would be annoying, and the big TV is a distraction - what's going to be on there? Shouldn't you be watching coach, or getting your ass ready for practice/game? Don't they have a lounge or something for just hanging out, instead of craning their necks up to see ESPN while surrounded by their stanky teammates?

The total cost of these would be about $1.2M.  They make a bit more than that on ticket revenue.

This is about what they'll make from beer sales at their stadium, which they claimed was an indispensable source of revenue.
