OT: Helmet Stickers: What's your opinion?

Submitted by cGOBLUEm on
I was very young the last time Michigan had helmet stickers, so I've only seen them in old photos. I would love to see them come back. I didn't mind the helmet numbers in 2011, but helmet stickers just seem more traditional to me. What are your thought?

I was young when we had them, but I'd be ok with them. As long as it's something small and subtle. The ones he had at Stanford looked alright.

It's the thread every night that is annoying...and not because there are too many of them. It's just because if it's not Friday night, 6 people post in them before the thread dies.

Also, IMO, there generally shouldn't be a drinking thread if there is an open thread at the same time.

Becuase isn't that the point? Watching OSU and Bama, isn't that a drinking thread in itself?

I digress.

So...you're three years old? Haha

I don't care about helmet stickers either way. People spend too much time worrying about it. If Harbaugh wants to use them, he will.

Football program needs a shakeup. This is one of the many ways this can be achieved. Harbaugh had them at Stanford and it worked out pretty well there, in fact Stanford still uses them under David Shaw.

It wasn't the awesome coaching...it was the stickers!

My GOD we have to step away and think sometimes.

Sure they may provide some motivation, but what player is out on the field thinking "alright, 3rd and 4...I have to get this block so I can get me another sticker!"

Let's be serious.

and the rationale behind it having to do with not wanting to elevate individual achievements over the team.   plus there is the pre-harbaugh thought of 'what if we were so bad nobody earned a sticker unless you got one for, say, "shoes on correct feet".

that said, if they came back i wouldn't lose sleep over it, especially if done well.

aren't always individual achievements. Depends how they're rewarded. Some teams give helmet stickers to position groups so all WR would have the same number, all QBs would have another number, etc.

Ahhh there you are my noble helmet sticker foe.  Waiting for me to make my move as I have in so manyhelmet stickers threads beforehand so you can pounce, like the sinister red army you proudly display, and try and stop the invisable hand of helmet stickers with the march of the hemet sticker free prolateriat.

But history is on my side my esteemed friend.  Just as democracy, freedom and manball vanquished communist football, so too will helmet stickers rise proudly and plant the flag of liberty on the backs of your helmet sticker free workers.  Just as it did in the 43 "should we have helmet stickers" threads before this one.

don't care that much, but prefer not to have them. it's cool for the buckeyes bc they have the buckeye leaves... we don't really have anything creative like that besides the best helmet in football as it is... so let's leave the stickers to osu

I think we should bring them back if harbaugh uses them like Bo did. Only giving them for actual good plays, good games, and great academic performance, unlike Ohio state, with players like Cardale Jones that didn't play and still have millions of helmet stickers just for showing up to class

Seeing this just furthers what I said earlier. Backups shouldn't be walking around with a million helmet stickers like they do at Ohio state just for being on the roster. Players shouldn't get 2 stickers for every big ten victory, the way tressel apparently did it. These stickers should be a symbol of pride, respect for the game, and great work ethic (both on and off the field). I would only like them back if Coach Harbaugh were to strictly enforce the distribution of the stickers. Star players should have 10 stickers on their helmet at most
