perrin doesn't have a huge range, but their black lager is one my favorite beers and I don't know of another Michigan brewery with that offering. im a fan of Saugatuck too. Brown ales are my jam and snow wizard is king amongst them in my opinion

Perrin's offerings that are available for purchase are indeed limited. But go to their brewey just north of GR, which is HUGE, and they have a ton of stuff on tap.  Their No Rules Vietnamese Porter is fantastic. Two years at the Mich Winter Beer Fest, they had a nitro version (15% ABV!) that was to die for. I also love their Cosmic Appartion (NEIPA). I find it better than M-43 which has been all the rage of late.

Between the two, f I had to choose a beer for a last meal or something, it would more likely be a Founders. Just all around better big and specialty beers, great for nightcap sipping.

But if I had to choose one brewery of the two for the rest of my life, it would be Bells. Just all around better "beers for beer drinking" - Two Hearted and Best Brown are beers you can put away all day without getting sick of them and without feeling like you're wasting something. And Expedition Stout might be my all-time favorite.

My favorite breweries in the state are definitely odd side, Greenbush, and old nation. Also, one of the most underrated beers around is Gonzo's vanilla porter.

I love Red Jacket Brewing Company but I think you have to go to Calumet to get it.

Keweenaw Brewing is ok and available around town.

Schlitz is far better than you might imagine for a regular beer.

Anchor Brewing Christmas Ale is a  holiday tradition

I will use the information presented above to broaden my horizons.

Thank you for the thread.  Most interesting opinions.

Bell's over Founder's for me. Two hearted, best brown ale, third coast beer, lager of the lakes, amber ale, oberon..plus octoberfest and christmas ale...they literaly have a beer for all occastions. Plus I love the Michigan outdoorsman theme. Little dissapointed with the brewery selection here in AA unless I'm missing something. Homes brewery is a cool place though.

I'm just a guy who's had a ton of Michigan craft beer, but both Bell's and Founders have lost a bit of their luster.  I'm really digging Cedar Springs Brewing right now, but none of their stuff is bottled.

Bells for me and it isn’t close. I can drink them, but I don’t really like IPAs and I don’t like bourbon. So the only thing I really drink from Founders is Dirty Bastard. Bells has so much more variety. They make a dopplebock I really like, although it can be somewhat hard to find. Not enough breweries make bocks and it’s a shame.

Founders for me, although I may be jaded since I live down the road and have a mug club membership. Their beers resonate more with my tastes and I'm a fan of a lot of their taproom only and firkin beers. That being said, both populate my fridge regularly. Right now I've got CBS, KBS, Hopslam, and Black Note hanging out in there. Doesn't get a whole lot better than that. West Michigan is truly blessed in beer.

But it's still early out west. Enjoying some Bodhizafa from Georgetown Brewing. My favorite local brewery is by far NoLi, they craft some awesome brews. Founders came out here and did a few 'tap takeovers' last year. Seemed pretty good, but it's beer Mecca out here. Cheers all!

both Bell's and Founders.  Win Win.

Really like Railtown Brewing Company in Dutton, Mi.  Very good beers.  Had a double IPA with blood oranges called Bloody Warrior and it was one of the best new beers I've had is some time.  They do not bottle beer- so you know they are still a smaller outfit.  Well worth the stop if ever in the area.

Was at Odd Sides last night. Mug Membership since 2013. Local since 68. That being said, I couldn't live without my All Day and Two Hearted. Those are my boys. Wife loves Red's Rye from Founder's and I love Centennial out if the tap (it's different in cans). Lately Fresh Squeezed IPA (out of Oregon) has taken a dent out of my Two Hearted addiction. Oberon is still the only wheat beer I can tolerate, let alone love. West Michigan Rules.
