I used to think Charlie Weis was an smug, incompetent idiot. Now he looks like a genius. He's got two schools paying him to sit on his ass and do nothing.

Granted, his reputation as a football coach is now deplorable at best, but the kind of money he's getting paid from both Notre Dame and Kansas allows you to not have to care all that much about what other people think about your reputation.

Lord knows theres plenty of them around. But the way this guys is such and asshat about it is what grinds me. You hear him interviewed you'd think he was the greatest coach ever. I know most coaches are arrogant, but at least have something(anything) to back that up. This guys a tremendous joke, albeit a really rich one.

People talk about "the system" in various places around football and it means different things to different people. Weis, on the other hand, through the process of building a name, getting hired, getting an extension, taking a team to a new low, getting fired, laying low and then repeating everything elsewhere, has earned the right perhaps to have what he does termed "The System". One day, I can only hope to be that good at getting paid to fail in most things that matter in a given field.

Remember, Charlie bullied ND into that extension. Right after the USC game he almost won, the rumors started flying that "NFL teams" were very interested.

ND took the bait when it could have said, "If you don't want to be here, see ya." But that is pretty slimy to leverage yourself right in the middle of your first season. Hey, it worked.

I saw the title of this thread and said to myself before clicking on it, "Oh, I hope it's Charlie Weis" and sure enough, it's Charlie Weis!

Had me a chuckle.  Miss ya, big guy.
