NCAA Tournament Open Thread 3/15/16
Two 16 seeds in Fairleigh Dickinson vs. Florida Gulf Coast in the first game.
FGCU 96 F Dickinson 65
The two 11 seeds play tonight, this game will have a major impact on brackets.
Vanderbilt 30 Wichita State 30
At halftime
If Wichita State wins I think I will pick them to move to the round of 32, I don't think Vanderbilt has it in them.
Fucking hell. Apparently I do not have TRU in my cable package. Which means I can't watch tomorrow's game either. FUCK!
Requires a cable login, and I get the message that I need to add TRU to my package.

Michigan was almost the first 1 seed to lose to a 16 in 1985 against Farleigh Dickinson.
We won 59-55. Was a two point game until we made free throws with 2 seconds left.

Michigan would be the school to almost lose to a 16 seed. It's just so Michigan.
Seems like it would happen to us. Up by 3 we would accidentally foul a guy who, as he was falling, would throw the ball over his head at the buzzer, sink the 3, and then make the FT for the win.
More like a Bill Frieder thing. First Round scares were common.
Six point win over 15 Akron the following year as a 2 seed.
5 point win over 14 Boise State as a 3 in 1988.

I just noticed Oregon State is a 7 seed with a 19-12 record. How did that happen?

The tournament starts on Thursday, mate.

I'm just stating the truth. I heard that the NCAA people themselves have decided to not call these play in games the first round, which is smart, because they're not the first round.
they're still part of the tournament so you're wrong.
I disagree. The teams that win these play in games are part of the tournament, hence the term "play in game."
Putting Fairleigh Dickinson in the Tournament is turning out to be a Fairleigh Dickinson idea on the part of the committee, although they are kind of creeping back to within less than 6 or 7 possessions, if you want to call that creeping back into a basketball game. It might be for them in this case.
They did, although Wagner came in first in the regular season, I think. This is a terrible matchup for them though. I realize the conference tournament champions get bids, but unless FGCU falls asleep, they will be in and out of this tournament very quickly.
Shouldn't these play in games be between the worst teams? 4 games with 16 seeds
"NCAA torunament open thread"?
These are just play-in games. It's not the real tournament. Who cares about play-in games?
Oh, wait . . .

please explain how these games aren't part of the tournament

Your opinion would be wrong. We were in the selection show, we are on the bracket, we are in the tournament.
Happy Dance . . . I just found out I get TruTV on one of the 900 channels I never watch. Who knew?
And while searching through the channels I saw Ohio State in the NIT.

Comcast in the DC area.

Just a heads up guys. If you have a Roku; there's a NCAA March Madness channel.
Bought a TCL Roku smart TV from Costco and love the thing. 41 incher for $299. Connect it to the internet, plug in a friend's Direct TV password and watch a ton of channels. Sling TV would be a killer option if one didn't have a friend with cable. 20 bucks a month for all your basic cable channels.
It's the NIT. Feel free to root against the Bucks.

FGCU being the first 16 seed to knock of a 1 seed would be so much fun.
doesn't officially start until Thursday.
