Stop doubling average players in the post and leaving guys wide open. How many 3s and subsequent free throw to bone head foulfouls do we need to give up before we get out of this thing?,,

This has all the makings of a classic Beilein loss.  Awful three-point shooting, letting one guy beat you, and getting almost zero frontcourt production.

Question

Has any basketball team, NBA or college, ever won the national title without any emphasis on big men or such reliance on perimeter shooting?

Beilein's system may be effective, but it feels like the Phoenix Suns of the mid 2000s...

Isn't the saying that guard play carries you in the tournament? I mean McGary only had 6 points in the MNC and we barely lost that. I think you're grasping a little bit, as Beilein's system has taken us to places we haven't been in 20+ years.

McGary didn't carry us through the tournament. He added an extra threat to provide another scoring option in addition to Burke, Hardaway, and Stauskas (mainly just the Florida game). Safe to say if we had McGary but had to replace Burke or Hardaway, we wouldn't have been nearly as successful.

Actually that reverse was a bit underrated.  Not for style but because it shows how good of coordination and court awareness Doyle really has.  Can you imagine Morgan doing that?   I can't and I'd imaine he'd turn to square up to the hoop (not for lack of athleticism).

Our identity is a perimeter oriented highly skilled team. I really expected more from guys like Chatman and Donnal. Both of those guys are hurting us with their slow development. Doyle and Audrey look like finds at least. Such an underwhelming season thus far.
