Didn't Herr play baseball as well?  I thought I heard a story how an OSU player hit a homer off of him, did a little "who let the dogs out" type of celebration, and by doing essentially forced Herr to hit the next batter in the head with a fastball.  One could argue that situation was bushleague both ways, but yo, our helmets have wings.

From all of the rumblings I have been hearing inside Yost is that the favorite is Herr. He is a great coach and I had the opportunity to play against him out East at prep school. He really turned Kent around from his first year there. They were awful, and now they are highly regarded as a East Coast hockey school.

I would prefer Weisman and Herr over Muckalt for numerous reasons. I'm holding out hope its either one of them.

Edit:

Watching Hyman's highlight tape, he looks like a gamer. His skating needs work, he doesn't look like one of those Michigan freshmen (JMFJ, Tambellini, Comrie, etc) that will dominate in year one, but should be a solid role player. I think he has a lot of upside, but people should not expect this kid to come in and give the offense a major boost its been missing for 2 years.

Great to hear about Hyman. Don't know much about hockey scouting, but he seems like a player from what I've read. And the team needs offense something awful.

Can't complain about any of the candidates for the assistant coaching opening. All three represented the school well when they were players, and each was pretty darn good on the ice as well.

First time Hyman scores next season I'm using this call: "Hyman TEARS through the neutral zone, SQUEEZES through two defenders, RIPS a shot from the circle, HE SCORESSSS!"

On that note, any students interested in joining WCBN next year... this is the kind of stuff you live for.  Hit me on the twitters (@amgodd) if interested.

Wiseman would be a great hire. He's currently assistant coach down here for the Houston Aeros. They replaced their entire staff this past offseason, and it seems to have worked as they are a win away from the finals. He's a good Michigan Man.

which ever former player gets the assistant coaching job...it will hopefully work out well. Also good to hear we have a scorer coming in next year...we needed one with all the losses on offense and this is a good bridge to the following year which has some good prospects coming to Ann Arbor
