Me lucky charms: Notre Dame's shamrock uniforms
We know all about Michigan's cool duds planned for the game on Saturday night:
Just a reminder that Notre Dame too will be sporting new football helmets with a shamrock on them, plus white jerseys with green stripes on the shoulders and green numerals:
Some nice history collected here on Notre Dame's affection with green in their football uniforms. They are considered lucky.
"Pink hearts, yellow moons, green clovers...and BLUE DIAMONDS!!!!"
An historical night all around from a football fashion perspective.
I just hope both teams play better than they'll look.

The only shamrock I like is a shake.

Will be Magically Delicious.

OMG, I just realized the unis have the Adidas logo on them, so that means Brandon has suceeded in his evil plan to bring university revenue enhancing advertisements INSIDE the confines of the bowl!

I know you're just kidding, I think.
But don't all Michigan's and every other teams jerseys have a company logo on them?
Nike, Adidas, Under Armor, etc.

Yes, they do.
I do think it's kinda cool that they went with the old school Trefoil logo instead of the modern 3-striper.

I actually think the ND unis are nice, even the helmet. ours are growing on me.

I'm already insanely psyched for the game, but I have to admit the two teams wearing special jerseys has me a little extra psyched. I know this makes no rational sense whatsoever, but there it is.

are going to be awesome under the lights. I can't wait. Go Blue!!!
September 5th, 2011 at 11:29 AM ^
You do realize that ND is wearing those because we chose to wear throw backs ourselves? It's kind of hard to make fun of them for this but anything else works for me. I can't wait to watch this game and am somewhat angry at myself for not splurging for the tickets to be there in person.

There is nothing "lucky" about ND's occasional green and/or white/green trim jerseys in the last 30 years or so? I think they have a losing record when they show up in green. Isn't it like 4-5, or something like that? Worse, maybe? Actually, I remember some ND subway alums (accounting for 9.8 million of the 10 million Irish fans) wondering if green had become cursed.
[Edit. - Sorry; the info was in one of the OP's hyperlinks. And yeah, I think I was right about the relative un-luck of the Irish green. Not sure about updated numbers. Anyway, there's been no Irish magic associated with green.]

Their gonna need all the luck they can get.

Lookin at that picture I never knew Denard was as big as Teo.....it's nice to see Denard put on that kind of mass this offseason.
September 5th, 2011 at 1:30 PM ^
I'm pretty sure that isnt ACTUALLY Denard and Teo..
September 5th, 2011 at 2:29 PM ^
you'd be able to tell if it actually was because Denard would be stiff arming T'eo if it was really them.

There's a picture of 'Denard' running above the MDen on State Street (as well as the profile picture on the Michigan Football Facebook page) that shows just how much Adidas knows about ball security: nothing. Not exactly Mike Hart-esque.

In full stride, you're not realistically going to run with the ball pressed against your chest. You should just focus on keeping it in your outside hand, with your palm covering the nose of the ball. If he's in the clear and the sideline is to his left, "Denard" is doing an okay job protecting it.

Really hate our jerseys. At least they didn't mess with the color scheme like the Nike folks love to do.
ND just looks ridiculous.

I do like the pants ;) and I'm fine with the authentic helmet.
But I'll still watch

I've started to accept the sleeves (you have to do something if you are going to cange it up). The Leatherface stitching on the M is what kills it for me. Without that I think it would look okay (though the whole idea seems unnecessary in the first place).

I love the ND Clover helmet. It's great, as are the thick white face masks that the Michigan helmets will have.

Should be a great, memorable game.

Aren't 4 leaf clovers supposed to be the lucky ones? ND's only wearing a 3 leaf clover. Uh oh, ND.
Good for us, we're wearing the 'ole lucky yellow Block M from back in the days when we had 550 - 0 point seasons.

I like the vintage adidas logo as opposed to the three stripes one we have on our normal jerseys
