He wasn't surrounded by a lot of talent when his Saginaw team came to Hackley Stadium and Muskegon would go on to win the state that season. They had two fast backs, one of them Eddie Brown who somehow, after attending GRCC, ended up in MSU defensive backfield and was the one that raped Desmond on the last play of a certain game we will never forget.
But back to his father. Their coach just put him in the middle of the field about 10 yards off the line and I guess just followed his coach's instructions and his instinct and depending on which of the Big Red backs broke free would just chase him down on the sidelines and if not for him their drives, normally consisting of 5 to 8 plays might have consisted of one. There are only a certain number of players at the high school level when you know immedieatley you are going to get your money's worth. When watching Wheatley and Kinder I knew I was being treated. Watching Shonte Peoples run just made you wonder what he might have done on the other side of the ball if he would have had an offensive line. Regardless, I knew I was watching a special athlete that night. Even more fortunate I guess is that two of those ended up in AA. Let's hope for the trifecta.

When I first looked up the info for this young man, there was a "now" obvious erroneous statement that stated he was the son of former wolverine Shonte Peoples. Your statement caused me to look deeper and besides learning of this error, I learned this young man is special for far more than his physical gifts, which are amazing.
When they use the term special in regard to him, there's little room for argument. In addition to learning who his actual father is, I also became aware this young man is as gifted in the classroom as he is on the football field. Although his father is a Michigan grad of some distinction, he makes it clear the decision will be Donovan's alone.
Damn, he would be a find addition.

Everyone knows that DMC is the father of DPJ.

Actually, I am rather happy I was swayed by the statement that lead to Magnus's correction I also noticed that misleading information was removed by time I went back to do more research. I really knew very little about DPJ other than his althetic prowess. The research lead to some interesting discoveries. Stories such as these, as is the case with the McCaffreys as well, seem to be the exception rather than the rule.
With the obvious privilieges both were born into they could have made some poor decisions, not outside the norm, due to a missplaced sense of entitelement. I don't like to drop names in these situations due to the age of these young men that go through the recruiting process. I will say, however, we've had our share of the others and in large part it came from one family. It's nice to read, instead, of young men who apply the same work ethic that serves them just as well in academics as it does in athletics.
I have no idea what our chances are with this young man. I already knew what he could offer on the football field. It's the other qualities though that turn exceptional players into leaders as well. He would be a tremedndous get.

Has anyone seen the RB out of Canada who has crazy speed and is getting the attention of many schools out west? His highlight film is unreal, is Mich interested in him at all? I know the level of competition in Canada is not up to our level here but, Tim Biakabatuka was a beast in Maize and Blue.

So you can spell out Biakabatuka but you can't put the recruits name, highlight link or anything else but the country he's from?
Hey guys, have you seen that recruit from down south that's crazy fast? All the schools up north are salivating over him?
Do you know who I'm talking about?

if that's Canadian speed, then he's actually faster by a factor of 1.37355.

I'm conflicted. On the one hand, he shoots right to the top of NOTY candidates. On the other hand, he uses hotmail.

I heard the Canadians football season is shorter too, which means the season numbers he's posting are even more impressive.
Thanks for the assist Magnus.

Teenagers are fickle and signing day is a year away...I'll give this some mental energy next January.

Donovan early which would give us another recruiting lift and help to bring in more top end talent. Too bad McCaffery couldn't be in with him and help recruit him.

he is his number one priority. I believe he reached out to him the same day he made the call to Harbaugh. As another poster said, It's much wiser to hold off for about a year when we will have a much clearer picture. That is not so difficult. It is difficult though to not imagine what these two could accomplish in the winged helmet.
