It's time for Clemson to do what they do best.. Clemsoning

Submitted by ThatGuyCeci on
I know people are tired of playoff talk, but regardless of your opinion, we need Clemson to lose tonight. Why? Besides the obvious, "we could still get in the playoffs" angle, Clemson losing would guarantee us a matchup with USC in the Rose bowl at the worst. That assumes the committee takes the B1G champ over us for the playoffs, but I have little doubt the Rose bowl would take us over the loser of the B1G championship game. I think most Michigan fans would covet a matchup against USC, much more so than an Orange bowl appearance against FSU. So without further ado, it's time for Clemson to revert to their old ways and do what they do best, Clemsoning. Go Hokies.

Clemson wins:  Michigan v Florida State in the Orange Bowl.

Virginia Tech and Wisconsin win:  Michigan v USC in the Rose Bowl

Virginia Tech and Penn State win:  Michigan v Alabama in the Peach Bowl

I still think it matters a lot whether it's Wisconsin or Penn State.  I'm pretty sure Wisconsin will jump Michigan with a win.  It's not so clear that Penn State would jump Michigan, though.  I think it's silly to claim that you "know" what a committee of 12 people will decide tomorrow--this is just a guess, as is everything else anybody is saying right now.

At this rate I think we want Wisconsin to jump us and make the playoff.

Let's be honest: barring the miracle of miracles we're not making the playoff. And I'm okay with that. We don't deserve it. But if Wisconsin wins tonight and jumps us, that means we get the Rose Bowl. And that IS NOT a bad deal at all. That also likely gives us a shot against USC.

If we don't make the playoff, I hope Wisconsin wins BIG tonight. And for a Clemson loss. I'm hoping for:

1) Alabama
2) OSU
3) Washington
4) Wisconsin

If Wisconsin gets in, we make the Rose Bowl. I despise PSU, but I respect the hell out of Wisconsin. I don't mind seeing them in the playoff. Would love to see us in Pasadena. Give us revenge for all the heartbreak Carroll bestowed on this program.

Well, if we're going to hope for Clemsoning, let's hope for something epic like Deshaun Watson lining up in shotgun AT THE GOAL LINE in that game against Florida State a couple years ago, only to have the snap sail past his head and back to the 24 or 25 yard line. That was AFTER a holding call on FSU gifted Clemson a spot mere inches from the goal line, as I recall. If they are going to do it on a big stage, let it be something like that play with the chance to go ahead in the game.

My gastrointerologist told me to stop watching college football for the next four to six weeks effective immediately.  So I could care less about this "clemsoning" concept you have.

Not gonna happen. Not going to watch. I've finally started to get over last week and this will just make me mad all over again. Michigan football really wears on you through a whole season. May be a blessing in disguise not playing Bama. They could womp on Michigan I think. Would hate to get blown out like MSU last year!

Clemson's been a contender the past 5 years. If that's Clemsoning...99% of the country would take it.

Outside of Pitt this year...every single game they've lost in the past 5 years has been to a ranked team, and all except 2 of those were on the road (and one of those two was to undefeated/national champion FSU - the other was to #13 S. Carolina at home).

.....which Clemson player will get punched by V. Techs coach? (....for those that remember the original Clemsoning.) Btw.....whatever happened to Coach Ford?

That's such a bunch of shit that UCLA and USC get to play that game in their backyard. Not much advantage there with your whole crowd and not having to barely travel. Why was this ever allowed? Why couldn't it ever have been in a dome in B1G country or anywhere else but there? Unbelieveable I tell you and to go along with it for so long and yet to this day? Fuck that noise. The only thing these bowls have to do with college football is tradition and the old clucks who cant handle change. I could care less about bowl games being the playoff settings. Give Michigan some home games when the playoff goes to 8 teams. Watch everyone else besides myself bitch and moan then. Why do these companies and whoever involved with these bowls get any kick back from the NCAA athletes. Too many damn bowl games it's ridiculous. Five to ten would be enough.

Edit: The Bison win their games here and are rewarded for it in the playoffs, getting home field advantage most of, if not the whole way the past 5 years. Has worked out good for them I'd say.

Although they had one less loss than we do now, their loss came in November to the worst possible team. Lost on a last second field goal and just like that their playoff hopes were basically nuked... Just like them last year, here we are KNOWING that we're one of the top 4 teams in the country yet won't be playing for a championship due to some hard fought losses in November.

PSU and Wisconsin are a tier below M but the extra top 10 win would likely propel them over us if Clemson were to somehow manage to "clemson" this game away tonight. What a cluster fuck this has devolved into.

I agree with you.  It would take a hell of an effort, but they could.  That Floriduh defense, I thought, was suppsoed to be good.  They had poor positioning, piss poor tackling, horrible pass coverage, and no answer for constant run plays.  And they looked slow.  I suspect they quit, like they did against us last year.  But jeez...

Hurts didn't impress me throwing it.  I think our secondary could stop the pass, and the DL and LB's clean up run plays fairly well.  And I trust that Harbaugh would come in with a great offensive plan.  I think we could win a close one, or at least keep the game tight - tighter than Bama would be comfortable with.  I don't see anyone else matching up nearly as well with Bama as UM would.

We would be a tough out for Bama...

My cool story bro... I had a chance to talk to a group of older Alabama fans last week and they were sorry we lost to OSU. Then said they were so happy they wouldn't have to face us in the playoff. Several said Michigan was the only team they believe could compete with them and now they have no concerns and I believe them
