I sure hope Michigan doesn't move up to #18 in the AP Poll
Week 1: Miami-38 @ #18 Florida State-34
Week 2: #18 Notre Dame-34 @ Michigan-38
Week 3: #18 Utah-24 @ Oregon-31
Week 4: South Florida-17 @ #18 Florida State-7
Obviously it will have no bearing on the outcome of the game next week, but that's a CK Award type jinx.

It could happen. So many ranked teams are losing it is nuts. I think the theme of this season might be "Hey, everyone is average!"

I don't think we have to worry about that. I love these guys, but they don't belong in the top 20 right now.

So true. Those lower (15-25) rankings usually just don't mean anything anyway. If we get to a bowl with any sort of record then that's fine by me.

This whole 4-0 start has been fun, but I think it might end up making our first eventual loss hurt a lot more. Before the season started, I would have accepted a loss on the road to MSU or Iowa, but after this start I'm going in to old-school mode where I think we can beat anyone, so the first loss is going to be devastating.

We are the team made to break trends this year....bring 18 on.
September 27th, 2009 at 12:18 AM ^
I am guessing we stay the same or move up very slightly.
September 27th, 2009 at 12:37 AM ^
the underwhelming performance today, we move from 23 to 20 b/c of the following:
#18 FSU loss
#22 UNC loss
#17 Houston loss (if Tech holds on)
If Houston pulls it out, then we will be at 21.
I guess it doesn't matter anyway. We are a team of destiny this year. I can feel it!

I have to laugh at FSU twice attaining that ranking this season, only to go down.
September 27th, 2009 at 12:03 PM ^
FSU is dangerous when they are unranked, they won both games being unranked!I guess the trick is to try to avoid being ranked for the rest of the year.
September 27th, 2009 at 1:00 AM ^
we will probably be 21 since Texas Tech is doing their best to give the game away to Houston. They still have a chance to pull it with a field goal though.

I don't see this as being a problem. We played like a very young team today. The flipside is man, how good could we be when they're all juniors and seniors?

I thought this thread was going to be an attempt at reverse psychology, but those numbers sure are interesting.

On another note, your guys are gonna give Weis a heart attack Irish. If the buffet doesn't get him, the 4 quarter is going to. Enough jokes, they pulled out a good one.

I think Iowa may jump over us though.

check this out:

They are kind of far down the vote getting. You can hold it against me in a couple of days if I am wrong, but they will proabably enter the charts at 23-25.
September 27th, 2009 at 1:49 AM ^
The fact that they didn't have many votes previous is irrelevant. They beat a top 5 team on the road. I think they'll jump to around 17 or 18 at least, sort of how FSU and Houston shot in with their wins previously.
Washington shot in at 24 last week after their upset, and they did not get any votes the week previously and were 0-12 last year. Iowa got plenty of votes this week and were also ranked earlier this season if u recall.

as Iowa is 17 and we are 20. This is why I don't gamble.

Note that 3/4 of those teams actually were victims of the CK Award jinx.
