"Hello Kicker Matt Goudis?"
according to scout.com Matt Goudis flipped from Boise State to us and is now listed as a commit...Rivals however has not broken any such news....
Any further confirmation? Didnt see anything on the board.

Those spinning stars on Goudis' profile are giving me a headache.

This is awesome, there is probably not a greater need at any position.
Welcome, Matt! Go Blue!

Every FG is a booming kick! Welcome aboard Matt Good-is!!! Can't understand how he generates so much leg power only weighing 160lbs.
December 24th, 2010 at 4:46 AM ^
does this mean we can pull a Saban and medical scholarship Gibbons?
/s
Kid seems solid, welcome aboard!

What a boot! Kid looks pretty legit. Lets hope he's on par or better than Garrett Revis, the last decent kicker we had.
December 24th, 2010 at 8:07 AM ^
didn't everyone HATE Revis his first year because he kept missing field goals at the start of the year?
I'm still holding out on Gibbons/Broekheziun (the longer I type the worse this spelling becomes) being a 4 year starting kicker that we'll all laugh about how bad they were in the first year during their next 3 seasons.

played with Butch and Troy Wolfork. You lads are thinking of Garrett Rivas.

Wasn't aware the snake oil worked on kickers.

This is even better than the pair of Wings' tickets my wife bought for me for X-Mas.

Here is a article on the commitment from LA Times. It uses scout.com as a source so it all hinges on scout being correct until we hear more news.

I'm guessing he was feeling heat since Conor Loftus seemed interested in us. I'm guessing that he doesn't visit us anymore.
December 24th, 2010 at 11:07 AM ^
He was just getting excited about us. Guess now he'll have to settle for an education at Harvard.
December 24th, 2010 at 7:25 AM ^
I'm so excited about this! Woo, snake oil!
December 24th, 2010 at 11:27 AM ^
...snake oil.
December 24th, 2010 at 7:30 AM ^
I can't believe I get aroused by the possibility of touchbacks. I usually touch fronts.
December 24th, 2010 at 8:49 AM ^
I wonder how much his meltdown influenced the Goudis decision. Talk about pressure for a kicker.
December 24th, 2010 at 8:54 AM ^
I wonder if Goudis could be a 4 star
December 24th, 2010 at 8:57 AM ^
congrats guys, a much needed addition to special teams to say the least
December 24th, 2010 at 8:59 AM ^
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!! and I thought Christmas was tomorrow.

I love Christmas...Such a magical time of the year.

I would be nice not to have to go for it on every 4th down on the opponents side of the field, because we have that certainty that no field goal will ever be made, even at extra point distance. Though maybe once the D gets better, Michigan won't be multiple td's behind and have to go for it just to keep up.
December 24th, 2010 at 9:36 AM ^
Best news in quite a while (and yesterday was pretty great).

My brother thinks that you don't use a block in college to kick field goals. Is this true?
December 24th, 2010 at 10:25 AM ^
I believe college kickers can kick off the ground or they can use up to a 1" kicking block.
December 24th, 2010 at 9:24 PM ^
...not correct, Magnus. See this:
ARTICLE 4. a. A field goal place kick is a kick by a player of the team in possession while the ball is controlled on the ground by a teammate.
b. A free kick place kick is a kick by a player of the team in possession while the ball is positioned on a tee or the ground. It may be controlled by a teammate. The ball may be positioned on the ground and contacting the tee.
c. A tee is a device that elevates the ball for kicking purposes. It may not elevate the ball’s lowest point more than one inch above the ground (A.R. 2-15-4-I).
So, only free kick place kicks may use a tee, and tees cannot exceed one inch in height.

This news is as goudis it gets
December 24th, 2010 at 11:14 AM ^
We could use the help in the kicking game.
December 24th, 2010 at 11:18 AM ^
I've never watched Kicker highlights before, much less 6 minutes of them. That being said, the kid looks great and i'm stoked! That 57 yarder at the end is off the ground, so i don't think we have too much to worry about with that. As with all kickers, it will come down to the mental side once he gets to campus, which we just can't evaluate til the time comes.
We're behind you Matt! Thanks for going blue. May you bomb field goals and kickoffs for the next 4 years!!!
December 24th, 2010 at 11:52 AM ^
Isn't it kind of rare to have two kickers (FG/extra points) on scholarship so close to each other eligibility wise? I could see having a sr and a frosh but Gibbons and this guy are only separated by one year. Should Goudis or Gibbons establish themselves as the kicker next year does the other possibly lose their scholarship?
December 24th, 2010 at 12:24 PM ^
......info lists his strength coach. This kid is hitting 50+ yard FGs. Just imagine what he'll be able to do after Barwis gets hold of him!
December 24th, 2010 at 12:50 PM ^
4th down on the our 10 yard line? Go kick that FG Gouidis!
